One of the worst experiences at a hotel ever. Accommodations are very nice, however, staff is terrible. My first experience with the staff was when I called about my heater not working. The front desk staff treated me as if I were an idiot/child and didn’t know how to use a thermostat. After several minutes of him lecturing me and assuring me that it is working correctly, I finally convinced him to send the houseman up. The houseman said«yeah, I know what’s wrong, it’s broken…» Heat was eventually returned to my room. THEN, my laptop was stolen, which I noticed the next day. Not only did the staff take this lightly, they took several days to even get me an answer about whether or not it was turned in to lost and found. I finally was able to speak to the GM(on day 2 after report) and he said he hadn’t heard about it until then. He claimed he filed a police report, but has yet to get me the report number(day 8). They also make a claim to their insurance, who proceeded to tell me «just so you know, we like never pay out on these… You have to prove the hotel is negligent». Despite accommodations themselves being quite nice, I will never stay here or another Hampton Inn again.

I checked into a normal two queens double bed room. When I got to the room there was other luggage already in the room. Apparently they double booked the room. Front desk Staff and Manager were very apologetic and upgraded me to a bigger room with a balcony. Super clean, GREAT staff and a really good breakfast! Update: I changed my review from a 5 to a 3 because of the air conditioning system. I spoke to a front desk worker as I was checking out and told them our air conditioner did not work last night. He then tells me this a green hotel and the thermostat has to detect a person before it will work. So I guess we are not people because that joker never came on and we walked all around that room. I told them he might want to check it anyways and said that it works you just must not of moved around in the room. like ok? really? how do I move around while I’m sleeping? The fact that I like to sleep in the cold and you have to be moving for it to work, I will not come back unless I can figure out how to move around in my sleep.

One of the top Hamptons in Louisiana. New and classy, views of the Mississippi River. We stayed at this Hampton on the way back from Orlando. It appears to be an newer Hampton located downtown and a mile and a half from I-10. Some downtown bars are nearby and a Mexican restaurant is across the street. I liked the room. The beds were comfortable and the view of the Mississippi and the bridge was nice. Standard room amenities, but parking is $ 10 a day in an adjacent lot or parking garage across the street. We stayed on the 6th floor and the elevator was slow at times. Breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, biscuits, oatmeal, cereal, pastries, and pineapple/papaya. Two waffle makers. The seating was open and had plenty of available tables on a Sunday morning. We didn’t see peanut butter or sugar-free syrup that we have seen at other Hampton Inns, but we didn’t ask for any, either. The fitness room is located next to the breakfast area and has dumbells, medicine balls, a few treadmills, two ellipticals, and a recumbent bike. Not a bad fitness room, but it could use a regular bike. We enjoyed our stay and will probably return in the future.

The beds are comfortable!!! Hallelujah! They don’t dip in the middle nor are they too soft or too firm. The sheets are soft. The rooms aren’t too roomy but that doesn’t matter(unless your a 400 pound man or a gorilla :-) The breakfasts are still under par for such a great place: the eggs and meats are not grade A by far, but whatever! The coffee is good. But the BEST part about this hotel chain(and especially this particular hotel on Lafayette) is the staff. The ladies who made the breakfast this morning were friendly and warm and wonderful. They have beautiful smiles and seemed to really like people. The same goes for the staff in the lobby. But the breakfast ladies were the best :-) They should get a promotion. So many staff at other hotels are pissed off about having to be there and they let you know it by scowling at you but it seems like whenever I go to a Hampton Inn and Suites, I am greeted by people who are happy to be where they are. I wonder if HI&Ss treats their employees better than other hotel chains? ps… The ladies today were excellent cooks… they made the Grade E steak in the breakfast tacos flavorful. But imagine what they could do with real meat!

Still has that new hotel smell. Very impressed with this hotel. Bright, clean, large room with great view of the Mississippi. I’m don’t understand complaints about construction across the street. That’s called progress and I could see it but didn’t hear it at all.

Convenient place for an overnight trip. Check-in was friendly but a bit backed up since there are only two staffers on the split front desk during a busy time of day… the hotel was not that busy so I wonder how much longer I would have had to wait when the hotel is at capacity. The usual Hampton Inn perks are included– free WiFi and free breakfast. Two computers and a printer near the front desk serves as the business center, convenient for printing boarding passes. There’s also a «happy hour», which is a hotel staffer pouring wine and opening beer, with some bread from the local bakery. Walking distance from some local restaurants(tried pro boys at a sandwich shop down the street, and tapas at Restaurant IPO around the corner). I paid a couple dollars extra to park in the tiny parking lot in front of the hotel, versus walking to the covered garage. The little turnaround at the entrance of the hotel is not that convenient, don’t even bother using it or you might get stuck behind other cars. Room was clean, fairly large and typical Hampton Inn style. The bed has a Post-it on the headboard that says all linens and duvet are changed for every visit… I know they do this at all Hampton Inns, but I rather they not say and have me assume as much. My room had a mini fridge, which was nice for chilling beverages. Elevators are modern and very fast.

Construction on a large structure across the street continued banging and clanging all night long — did not stop. No one warned me the construction went through the night. I also was overcharged this stay. Not sure I will return here.

It’s a paradox of the hotel business that the lower-end places give you free WiFi and free breakfast. The high-end places charge you for everything — unless you have elite status in their loyalty programs. The WiFi here was free and reasonably fast(2 Mbps downloading and half that rate uploading), but it just barely qualified as broadband. The breakfast was at the same level: everything was OK, but I got the vague sense that the eggs were scrambled in a factory far from the hotel and that some of the foods were made out of cardboard and corn syrup. On the other hand, the personnel were super-nice, and my room looked good. The air conditioning(which you’ll definitely need for most of the year) worked flawlessly and wasn’t excessively noisy. The bed was comfortable, and I slept soundly. My only problem with the room is that the bathtub didn’t drain all that well — I was up to my ankles in water when I finished my showers. The fitness room is «all Precor all the time.» There’s a recumbent stationary bike, two elliptical machines and three treadmills. There are a couple of benches and some free weights. Finally there’s one of those universal exercise machines with ropes, pulleys and stacks of weights that can be set with a pin. Small sweat towels are provided, and there’s a cooler with a tube full of paper cones to use as cups. This is nowadays a pretty standard setup for a small hotel. I thought that the Hampton gym was better than many that I’ve encountered. Conclusion: the quality/price ratio is high enough so that I can recommend this Hampton Inn without hesitation.

This hotel was pretty nifty, I must say. 3 friends and I stayed here over the weekend for a wedding, even though I live 10 minutes away, it wasn’t worth the risk of the police pulling us over after heavy drinking at a wedding reception… ANYwho…the hotel is in a great location in the center of downtown… the garage is very large and next to the hote… walking distance to everything downtown has to offer… mainly the bars. The FREE breakfast is also a must from what I am told. We didn’t make it to breakfast, but another person was RAVING about it to me at a bar the night before. The Hilton and Indigo are more expensive and you get the same accommodations, IMO. I will be back!

Reasonably priced, great location and nice rooms. Walking distance to bars and restaurants. Clean and new. Nice free breakfast. They don’t have bath tubs, just a large shower but that doesn’t bother me. Great experience overall!
