Have been meaning to go to this place since so long but never ended up going to this place. Just one of those things you know!!. Also over the years I think I am closer to what a good italian place might be — or at least my version. So you can’t say how it should be because you haven’t been to Italy actually. Lol. And according to me this is good. The taste is instantly revealed in marinara sauce. Their sauce is not like the tomato purée-ish thing. It actually tastes of spices and how I think the recipes describe marinara to be. TRY their MARINARA. First time and I tried the oyesters don poboy. It was pretty good. Though I read that oyester are best raw, and haven’t actually tried one of those. I think this poboy was nice. It wasn’t like pieces of fried things in between the bread. It was moist and they dressed it optimally.(and obviously I was hungry. ;) but it was really good. Went for lunch and I had to sit at the bar but it was fine. I was in for a quick bite. That’s another thing about this place. It is more of an enjoy your food place rather than a quick in and out place.

I really wanted to love this restaurant. I’ve been craving chicken parmigian and on our son’s birthday decided to celebrate at DiGiulio. I’m sorry to say that everything disappointed. There were 4 of us; all adults. We all ordered something different and no one liked their dish. The basket of brown bread on the table is still a mystery and when we asked for garlic bread we were charged $ 11.95. I will say the place was packed. I just don’t get it.

My first visit and I can say the food was delicious if you are looking for homestyle Italian. I came in on a Thursday evening just before 6 and was able to snag the last table. I highly recommend if you have a larger group come before 6 or make reservations. This is an intimate size restaurant with small and medium tables and bar side that stretches one entire wall. Food: I ordered the portobello with shrimp, tomatoes and provolone. Deliciously cooked and paired with spaghettini. Definitely enough for one or to share with another. The meal came with a choice of house or Caesar salad and warm bread. Service: Good. I don’t remember the waitstaff sharing what the specials were or what the restaurant is known for but did check on me once the food was served. Immediate attention which is always a thumbs up.

To start with I will say we have only dined here once but that experience was enough for us to call it a day for this one. Service was in the 1 star range and the food across the board from three of us was completely underwhelming on this occasion and that includes a young adult who literally adores most any pasta. Top it off with it being way too small and crowded inside and you have the perfect storm for a subpar but fairly expensive meal. We moved on from here to Mon Junis with similar take on the food there too… and that is another review for another day. We will find decent Italian in BR yet.

Great place with awesome food, wine and atmosphere. They also serve local handmade pasta made by the D’Agostino Pasta Company fresh daily. Try the eggplant dishes.

Went for brunch. My husbands chicken and biscuits were great. Mimosas were good, however no special… which is offered most places for brunch. Spaghetti carbonara was mediocre at best. Very under seasoned and became gelatinous very quickly. Same with the grits. They were terrible and could be picked up in chuncks. When talking about brunch, no one has ever mentioned this place, and I can see why. Will definitely not be back when there are so many excellent places to eat in Baton Rouge. For $ 50 + tip I wpuld have expected better.

Oh my yummy, this place is amazing. You wouldn’t know it just by driving by. It’s in a little old building that doesn’t look like much from the street, but oh what a treat! I was visiting Baton Rouge for work and we took one of our clients here for dinner. Everything from the food, drinks, ambiance and customer service was fantastic. I had the veal piccata which was absolutely delish, but our client ordered the lasagna with«one» meatball and I found myself with dining envy. My boss had the salmon and he said that was great as well. We also ordered an appetizer(calamari) and desserts(red velvet, lemon pie, chocolate pie, oh my!) everything, I say everything was fantastic. We went the next night to a very well known restaurant in town from New Orleans. It was also very good, but it didn’t hold a candle to this place. I highly recommend it!!! Why this place doesn’t have perfect stars is beyond me!

I had a great experience here. A great experience is not always a flawless experience, but an experience in which the staff and/or manager are willing to make you feel good and make things right. The food was good, the wine was good, the atmosphere was great but this review is for the management. Thank you for a great service! I will be back!

Simply the most consistently fun and quality neighborhood haunt in Baton Rouge. If you live near it, you will inevitably run into neighbors, friends and city officials alike.

This tiny little restaurant was a great find in BR. We love good Italian food, and this place hit the spot. We stopped in on a Monday night around 7:30. We were drawn to the bright colors and lights on the building just off Perkins by the Underpass. This place is tiny and was packed! We got a table and as we tried to read the menu we realized how dark it was. The candle on the table helped a bit, but I used my phone to illuminate the menu. On the plus side, the place was not smokey. Our server was great, suggesting the Gorgonzola and Roasted Garlic appetizer. It was a great suggestion for a couple of stinking rose lovers. We both had the House Chianti, which was nicely priced at $ 6 a glass. I ordered the lasagna with meatball. Creamy, cheesy gooey noodle goodness smothered in herb packed marinara sauce. On the side was one largest meatballs I’ve ever seen. Hot, juicy and packed with flavor this meatball was a great acompaniment to the meatless lasagna. SO ordered spaghetti with meatball. A huge plate full of pasta, smothered with red sauce and topped with a huge meatball. We both had plenty to take home for another meal. We both loved this little place and look forward to coming back many times.

Dropped by at 6pm and it was already packed. The owner was walking around, helping keep an eye on things which was nice. We ordered the eggplant appetizer which was good. The eggplant was not oily. The batter was light and crisp. The bread and salad that came with the meal were nice. The bread was soft and moist and tastes great with butter. The salad was good, maybe even too much. By this point I was starting to get full. The lasagna was a nice hefty size with a very big meatball on the side. Both tasted good albeit on the sweet size. My mushroom dish seemed a little bit disconnected. The sauce didn’t seem enough for the pasta, and again was a bit too sweet. The mushroom caps were grilled and tasted nice, but I could do without the provolone. Overall, the ambiance is great. Parking is limited and it gets busy quickly, so be prepared to wait. The service is great as well. I would go back after trying a few other places, but probably try a different entrée.

Went by for lunch with a friend and couldn’t believe I’d been missing out! Best. Meatball. Sammich. EVER!!! Perfectly stewed meatballs, the right amount of provolone cheese, and fresh French bread. Good gravy, it was good. That poboy was only made better by the addition of friend eggplant and extra sauce! To have still-crispy eggplant over those giant meatballs was perfection! I’ve been back two lore times for the same dish! Do yourself a favor, get one, hide in your bathroom and eat it quietly so you don’t have to share. Pure gold! The service was a tad slow, being busy at lunch and only having one server. It wasn’t bad enough not to go back, but we did wait a while to order.

I always think it’s hard to give a review based on one experience. I liked the outside patio and my calamari was good. My boyfriend didn’t care for their spaghetti that came with the chicken parm. However, he liked the chicken. The waiter was nice but she seem shocked when we didn’t get wine. It’s kinda pricy but it’s a guess a little fancier than casual imo. Hey should have a semi casual option. I wouldn’t be opposed to going back.

Long-time Italian restaurant located at the base of the Perkins road overpass — -place is small —with patio seating there’s probably less than 15 tables total in a cramped area, but it’s cramped because the tables are usually filled and the place crowded — -food has flavor and great selection of wine. Lunch time has a specific daily special for approximately $ 12 and which includes an entrée and side salad plus regular daily specials or you can order pizza. Dinner has a more extensive menu and at times offers osso bucco which is not found that often in Baton Rouge. Thursday our party“s orders included beef tips which looked awesome and tuna croquette which was my selection — serving size of tuna looked a little small but it packed a wallop and is recommended. Service here has always been professional and efficient – my only issue is that the times I have gone is that it’s always crowded due to space limitations and loud and parking is limited however I go regularly and so do many others so those things are not deal breakers.

After hearing from friends rave about Di Giulio Brothers, I finally gave it a try one evening when I was craving pasta. Disappointingly, I found it to be rather underwhelming. My date and I had the portobello mushroom and the lasagna. I love marinara sauce and mushrooms, so I figured the portobello dish would be right up my alley. The portobello mushroom is smoked and stacked with fresh tomato, provolone cheese, and some sauteed shrimp. The portobello was cooked well, but it basically was just a stack of a mushroom cap, a warm fresh tomato, some slightly melted provolone and then shrimp scattered on top. I am not sure what the shrimp were seasoned with, but it clashed with the marinara that was at the bottom of the plate and on the side of spaghetti that came with the mushroom. Overall, I thought the stack was pretty bland. The red sauce was okay, and some crushed red pepper helped kick it up. My date’s lasagna was good, but I don’t think I would order it if I were to come back. However, the balsamic vinaigrette on the salads that came before the entrees was pretty fantastic. I could come back and just make a meal of the salad. Given how much people rave about this place, I’d like to come back and give the food another chance. The service we received was outstanding, so it was a bummer that the food didn’t quite measure up. I really enjoyed the ambiance as well. I hear that the veal piccata is the thing to get here, but since I try to avoid eating veal, it will have to be something else to try to blow me away.

I don’t know what I was thinking awarding only four stars after my first visit. I’ve been back several times since, and recognize that DiGiulio Bros is a legit five-star operation. Consistently amazing food, great wine and very good service in a cozy setting. What more could you ask for in an Italian restaurant?

Stopped in on a Friday to meet friends for a glass of wine and pizza. We had already eaten so we just got wine while our friends ordered a custom pizza, and devoured the whole thing! The bartender let us taste wines before deciding what we wanted, which was great, and suggested something when I wasn’t feeling my usual go to Cabernet. I got the Barbera, it was very good! The atmosphere is great, a tiny Italian place with great ambience. The service was a little spotty, but not too much else to complain about. Would love to come back on another night for a proper dinner!
