I hit this joint a lot for breakfast. They have grits, eggs, meat pies, smoked sausage, patty sausage, bacon(biscuits can come with those meats too), biscuits and gravy, and oatmeal. They have lunch as well with turkey wings, chicken, white beans, gumbo and more. I’ve only had breakfast. The service is pretty fast so don’t worry about long lines. Usually 3 people at the serving line and 2 registers going. They have gas too, which is usually more expensive than anything else around… if there was anything else around. They win. Not a bad spot. You may have a hobo or gutter punk ask you for change(rarely but does happen b/c there’s a bus station across the street). Either give it to them or keep on walking. They won’t attack you b/c cops are around all the time.

Who would have thought that EXCELLENT gumbo could be had at a Chevron gas station!!! After visiting the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge, I was getting a little hungry. So I asked the security guard at the museum where I could get good gumbo. He directed me to this little Chevron, and boy was he right!!! It was good, it was reasonable(if I recall a big container was $ 4.00) and it hit the spot!!! Go figure…
