I love supporting local restaurants. I definitely recommend the fried oyster salad and the cheese fries. The staff is extremely friendly especially the hostess Kendall who is extremely vivacious !

Very happy to have found this nice little local gem. The service was quick and polite, the atmosphere was pleasant and casual. I had the seared duck breast which was well cooked, and presented beautifully over a locally grown wild rice pilaf. Very simple dish that packed a flavor punch. My wife got the salmon over snow peas. Perfectly cooked, and they even asked for a level of doneness. The desserts were nicely flavored. The bread pudding was a little sweet, but nice. The chocolate pot de crème was rich and just the right level of sweetness.

Came on a Friday of Memorial Day weekend. First thing you notice is the ambiance and live music, which we loved. It was loud enough to listen if you wanted or it could just be nice background music. The girl singing was pretty phenomenal as well, so that certainly helps! Jonathon was our server and was very helpful directing us around the menu and finding me some great local craft brews. Food was delicious and service was excellent. We will definitely be back whenever we are in town.

Very small portions, prices very high. Food is mediocre. Had the shrimp and grits and had to take off the heads and tails before I could eat it. When you are all dressed up the last thing you want to do is have to handle your food with bare hands.

Great great service, very lovely for a weekday lunch. Had the fish which was drum with okra, the person I was with had the quinoa salad with grilled shrimp. Both were light and healthy. Iced tea was on point and we never had to wait for refills.

If I could give negative one star, I would. We ordered small plates. Thank god we didn’t waste money on their entrees. We are normally fans of the truffled oysters– they were soggy. Edible, but soggy. Not browned, no crispness. They sat under the heat lamp for 10+ minutes, and their fryer is a complete moron. Next were -«General Tso’s» pork cheeks — who taught these people how to braise then fry pork cheeks? They were like rubber. Not tender — ATALL. Not to mention they need four buckets of salt. The broth/seasoning mix was bland. Potato Gnocchi — what a joke. First of all they were potato logs. They were NOT gnocchi. They were gummy. Overcooked. Under seasoned. The creamy sauce was too acidic, had a ton of white pepper in it. The royal red shrimp tasted old. We decided to order one last small plate before we tossed in the towel. Fried quail and boudin waffle with sriracha. Sounded good, right? WRONG! The quail was edible — at best. The waffle was undercooked, unseasoned, and not crispy AND contained NOBOUDIN whatsoever. It was covered in globs of pure sriracha. We told our amazing server(seriously David our server was out of this world) what we thought of the waffle and he came back from the kitchen saying that«they mixed the boudin/waffle batter so well it was all incorporated, and you couldn’t see the boudin.» Bullshit. But that’s ok. The cocktails were great and our waiter made up for the crappy food. I might would go back just to have him as our server. We ordered pot de crème as our dessert, which turned out fabulous. I would go there for drinks and that dessert only.

Initial visit on Easter morning proved to be an utter disappointment! Onion rings were ordered as an appetizer, which were warm but slightly greasy. The batter was thicker than the onion and left one wanting in taste and texture. Even at $ 4, the onion rings are not worth it. The main entrée, jumbo lump crab cakes with eggs benedict is an item that must be either removed from the menu or immediately revamped!!! The dish is assembled from bottom to the top: half of an English muffin, crab cake, egg, and hollendaise sauce. First, the English muffin was completely inedible. The bread was more akin to greasy charred cardboard than a muffin. The bread simply had no taste other than to offer an oily sheen upon ones palate. The crab cakes were even more disappointing. The only thing jumbo about them is the despair one feels upon trying to consume them! Textually, the cakes felt like half chewed, gelatinous blobs. Upon further inspection, the only thing visable was breading. I had expected a significant amount of crab but only had a miniscule amount in each cake. There was absolutely no seasoning and very scant heat. The only ingredient wroth eating were the eggs but they were lukewarm at best. The hollandaise was not seasoned properly and have the impression of being a mix rather than freshly made. The ethereal butteriness I teamed for never even showed itself on this plate! The real tragedy is that there were two of these monstrosities on both of our plates. At $ 18 per serving, I felt robbed financially and emotionally. I brought my mom out for Easter and was completely embarrassed by the entire ordeal. The Pot de Crème was adequate and priced fairly at $ 6. The dessert and live music are the only reason I gave Beausoleil two stars!!! The waiter was not very attentive and tried to overcharge for items we had not ordered. Bottomline, I would never recommend this restaurant!

I went here on a Friday night, which was the day before Valentines Day this year. Our server was Amber(her hair was brown) and though the place was very busy, she was attentive and knew the menu very well. Her suggestions on drinks and food were good ones and the only downside that could be fixed was the lack of walk way space for the servers to run food to guests. My table was very close to the kitchen opening and a few times I was afraid I was going to get hot soup spilled on my head! All it takes is somebody’s foot accidentally in the way… I would definitely recommend this place to a couple looking for somewhere higher end and romantic. I had the Salmon and it was SOGOOD!!!

The service here was great! Nice layout for brunch. I ordered the St Cumber cocktail which was made perfectly. I then ordered the Truffle Fried Oysters and Traditional Eggs Benedict. The oysters came out quickly and were hot and fresh. Very tasty! My eggs Benedict arrived shortly after I finished the oysters. The hollandaise was made very well with that subtle hint of lemon. All around yum experience and will be back!

I’ve been to Beau Soleil twice and both experiences were about average for the price point. I ordered a curried pumpkin soup, pecan crusted drum, and bread pudding. The soup and fish were both fantastic… The soup had a great flavor and was not overly salty, and the fish was cooked to perfection topped with a tasty pesto butter. The bread pudding was below average for Baton Rouge… It came out a bit cold and not as soft as I would have liked. My second visit, I ordered the chicken which was the ! It was so delicious… It ruined all other chicken for me. If going to a restaurant was only about the food, I’d have given it 4-stars. However… I was pretty disappointed in the quality of service. Our appetizers took nearly 20 minutes to come out and the entrée another 15 minutes after we finished the appetizers. Our waiter never apologized for the wait which made me think this was the norm. Generally, our waiter wasn’t very courteous either. We were rarely checked on and normally had to ask for a water or drink refill. Both visits, the service was about the same. I think I would be willing to give Beau Soleil another try since the food is delicious, but all things considered, it is an average restaurant in its price range in Baton Rouge.

I went to Beausoleil for the first time during Restaurant Week here in Baton Rouge and was very impressed. I had the mixed greens, tomatoes, feta cheese and candied pecans with sensation vinaigrette, the drum with pesto butter and the bread pudding. Everything was delicious, especially the bread pudding! I have lived in Baton Rouge since 2013 and this restaurant is my new favorite. I, however, noticed that the prices are more expensive for dinner(versus brunch or lunch). I probably will be back for brunch. Also, the service was excellent.

We dined here during Restaurant Week with friends on a Saturday night. The restaurant is in a nice part of town so you’ll find some men wearing dinner jackets or button down shirts but that’s certainly not required. Instead of bread, Beausoleil serves cracklins(fried pork skin) to whet your appetite. Definitely Southern. From the Restaurant Week menu we tried: Curried Pumpkin Soup– a little thin but had a good bit of spice. Nice and warming for the winter. Satsuma Teriyaki Chicken Wings– skin was crispy, really flavorful Pecan Crusted Drum– the fish was cooked perfectly and the pesto butter was superb. Coq au Vin– a little disappointing in terms of flavor; it was bland other than the strong wine flavor. The top of the dish arrived cold, which was a little off-putting, but the center of the dish was warm. Sirloin steak– ordered it medium-rare and it was undercooked; a standard steak otherwise. I ordered the pan-roasted chicken breast from the regular menu. I’ve had this before and this is one of my favorite chicken dishes in all of Baton Rouge! The chicken is so moist and the pesto butter… yum. This is even better than Chelsea’s Chicken Fried Chicken. For dessert we had the Bread Pudding(my husband complained that it was too dense) but I loved the warm caramel sauce– it’s a great, warming dessert for winter. Our friends had the Blueberry Lemon Trifle, which was served cold and topped with blueberries. The lemon made it tart but also makes it the perfect refreshing summer dessert. The service was below average for a place at this price point. Our waiter was a little snobby and not very friendly. Despite this, I will be back for the chicken!

First time dining at Beausoleil and will be to go dinner place whenever we are in town. On par with City Pork Brasserie. We ordered a few small plates to share. Our favorite was the lamb meatball with BBQ sauce and goat cheese polenta. Must order this if you go. Truffled fried oysters were good too but mostly tiny pieces of fried oysters though. Fried eggplants are okay. They shouldn’t call the sauce«remoulade» that accompanied the fried eggplants as it tasted like marinara sauce to me. Service was great and cocktails were great as well. A great place to bring your date.

Previously, I have only went to Beausoleil for Restaurant Week and Slow Food events. It’s AWESOME to know they support slow food and eating locally and in season. I went for the first time the other night with a friend, and we started off with cocktails.(And a complimentary cracklin appetizer) My friend ordered the Monique, and I ordered the Salted Strawberry cocktail with orange vodka(sorry i forgot the name of it) and it was phenomenal! The perfect balance of sweetness and savory with the salt. The mussels we ordered easily compares to my favorite Nino’s mussel appetizer, and I can easily order their mussels for myself to go for a special treat. The sauce was light and garlickly, and perfectly satisfying lapped up with the crusty bread served with it. I almost ate the bowl! For myself, I ordered the lamb(rare for me, the bloodier the better) with greek orzo pasta. My friend Rosy ordered the jumbo seared scallops. And boy were they JUMBO! Easily some of the biggest and tastiest scallops I have ever eaten. The scallops were classically served over risotto, which was creamy and scrumptious. I wanted to order more food, but unfortunately could not fit all that food into my body! But that’s ok– it just means I will have to go back on a regular basis and try EVERYTHING on the menu. It took me at least 20 minutes to decide on an entrée. I would have enjoyed more suggestions from the server, but then again, my friend and I were engrossed in Spanish conversation the entire time. Cannot wait to take myself or a colleague to Beausoleil again soon!(By the way, a chef friend of mine told me he only takes his wife to Beausoleil to eat brunch, and coming from a chef, that’s a huge compliment in the restaurant industry!)

My husband and I dined here on a Tuesday night with eight of his clients. Our boisterous party of ten opted to sit outside due to the beautiful weather and to not disturb other diners. We had a great time. Our waiter, Brad, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. There is no separate gluten free menu and gluten free items are not specifically designated. It’s a good dining option for the gluten free savvy diner. I ordered the shredded rabbit dish and was able to substitute risotto for the spatzle on Brad and the chef’s recommendation to keep the dish gluten free. It was delicious. Other diners ordered the shrimp and couscous dish, the lamb, the ahi tuna and the filet. Everybody really enjoyed their entrees. Two other diners and myself tried the Pot de Crème(deemed to be GF by our waiter) while four other diners opted for the bread pudding for dessert. The pot de Crème was fabulous and a great change of pace from the usual GF dessert options. The diners that chose the bread pudding RAVED about it. Not one crumb was left! Also worth mentioning is the Monique cocktail. I am picky when it comes to drinks. The sweeter the better. On Brad’s recommendation I tried the Monique(a combo of Limoncello and Champagne) and it was awesome! For our party of ten diners, with ten entrees, seven desserts and quite a few drinks and cocktails(approx 16?) our bill was $ 524 before tip. For the level of service, the delicious entrees, phenomenal desserts AND great adult beverage choices this was quite reasonable. My husband and I will definitely be back to dine at Beau Soleil again whenever we are in Baton Rouge and highly recommend it as a great option to entertain clients…

This place is pretty neat. I’ve been on a Sunday for brunch and they had live music which added great ambiance. I had the cream cake Benedict in my first visit, my egg was a bit over cooked. If you order this see if they’ll add a fried tomato to it, it’s a really yummy pairing. On my most recent visit I had the fried oyster salad. It was MUY delicioso lol. I would definitely order it again. Apparently the bblt is pretty legit also as it is po boy style and has a fried green tomato. yum. I dig their décor, it’s cozy and they even have an additional bar in the over flow room so you can order mimosas while you wait on your table. And they give you an order of pork rinds as you wait for your food to come. Who needs bread when you have pork rinds!

My parents and I ate brunch here on Saturday. Our server, Jonathan, was wonderful, and worked with us on our various food intolerances and preferences. Because it was brunch(I mean really, it was lunch, but brunch just sounds fancier) I got a mimosa(day drinking! thumbs up). We all split an app of boudin balls with red bean hummus, my mom got the mixed greens salad, I got the curried chicken salad on lettuce instead of the pretzel bun, and my dad got the seafood salad with a side of grits. They had a delicious sounding watermelon-tomato gazpacho but we didn’t order it. We ended our meal with a fruit sorbet, in a perfect portion. I had never been to Beausoleil and my first experience was great! It certainly won’t be my last. If you have Jonathan as your server, ask him to show you some of his photos from his Southeast Asia trip, they were incredible(yes, we all became best friends over brunch).

I have been here multiple times before, and always sat in their wine room. So when the project partner asked for a christmas dinner place for 10 people the day he wanted it, I was just glad they had availability. I had no problems with reservations the day of even and the person on the phone was very helpful. Not having a per person minimum in their wine room definitely sealed the deal for me. Now, I think it is kind of a stretch calling it the wine room — there are about 30 wine bottles there in total — some of them looked simply decorative sitting on the dvider windoe sill and NOT real wine bottle, haha. The chair in the room are VERY uncomfortable according to me, and also the space is very tight I feel. But again, thats neither here, neither there. Now while the place is definitely very relaxed and casual(our servers were sweet and smiling always), I do think it is a bit overpriced for the food they serve. I love the fact that they bring those pork rinds for you to chomp on while you wait for food. Now, I was a veggie both times I was here, so I did not taste them, but the rate at which these disappeared from the table, I can say folks loved them :) THeir craft cocktails, I think are great conceptually, but I think some of them missed the mark with execution. Their version of a moscow mule comes in a hearty steel mug, which is a great touch, but was way too bitter for instance — again, this might be just me. I had a cocktail with the satsuma juice in it, and that was too sweet and tart at the same time — which was weird. I did like the fact that they used fresh satsuma juice to make it though. For the food, I think I absolutely love their artichokes, SO yum and I also loved my beet salad. I had a chance to have the potato gnocchi, and it was delish! It was soft and pillowy — complete yumminess! One of my friends had the steak and he did not like it. The fish and chips(special for the day) was ordered by 4 different people and I think all of them loved it. The boudin balls were ok, I think some folks had reservations about the actual texture with those. Over all, service was good, ambiance was fine and the food/drinks were a hit/miss depending on what you got. Will I be back here? Maybe if someone wanted to come here — I wouldn’t necessarily seek out the place by myself again.

Hidden in a strip mall, this place is quite the great find! We stopped by for brunch and we were pleasantly surprised. Let’s start with the appetizers — the free pork rinds were amazing! It’s always good to have a free snack at the table. Then the boudin balls were well seasoned and had a great consistency. We also had boiled peanuts but they were a bit salty, good but salty. The entrees didn’t miss and flavor at all. I had the crab cake Benedict. It was flavored very well and the hollandaise was so sweet and buttery. My friend ordered the seafood omelette. It was a good portion and tasted very good as well. Finally my other friend had the southern fried chicken and biscuits. It was amazing! The biscuit was homie — tasted like someone’s grandma made it. The chicken was seasoned and delish. The DRINKS! OMG The pear French 75 and the sazarac were some of the best drinks I’ve ever had in BR. I can’t wait to come back for dinner.
