On December 7, 2014 I arrived to BRGER exactly 3:04 a.m. I can count on one hand how many time I been to BRGER. I normally would see my PCP; however, I was not feeling well which led me to go to their emergency room. I checked in and within 30 minutes I was in a bed waiting to be seen by an ER doctor. Although, I was not impressed with the ER/admission nurse, I was thrilled because I was in the back within hours waiting to be seen by the doctor. Well the ER/admission nurse who checked me in told me to take off my clothes someone will be with you. I sat there on bed from 3:35 a.m. until 6:20 a.m. in pain not able to lay down because the bed remain in a flat position. No one staff, nurse, tech etc never came in to acknowledged me or even let me know that we are short handed but someone will be in to see you. The staff never came in to place my bed in an up right position so I can somewhat relax until they were able to see me. Finally around 5:00 a.m. I page for someone to find out what was going on. I wanted to make sure they haven’t forgotten about. The nurse came in and said there only 1ER doctor and 42 cases waiting to be seen. She continue to state that there are severe cases that requiring the doctor attention first then my case. After she made her statement she left the room. This nurse saw me sitting up never put my bed up or even offer me any cover to make me comfortable. After sitting up, in pain, and emotionally hurt I decided to leave at 6:30 a.m. without seeing a doctor. Again I paged for the nurse someone came over the intercom asking may I help you, I said yes I need to see the nurse. The person stated how can I help you? I said through the intercom I’m not going to stay, I’m leaving. The person said back to me through the intercom, «okay have a good night». Trying to exit the emergency room the security guard questioning me about discharged papers he felt the need to ask why was I leaving. I felt he was out of order. Coming to BRGER was I felt disrespected and as a patient my needs were never met. I never met or even knew who the nurse or doctor was assigned to my case. Never was seen while in the ER from 3:04 until 6:30 a.m.

The Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet Campus has a very nice, modern, and clean Emergency Department. I went to the ED here when I had rather serious kidney stones, and I did not incur a wait. I was placed in a private room and was seen almost immediately by one of the ED physicians. I was then admitted to a very nice, private room, in which I stayed for the next few days. As far as hospital stays go, this was an excellent experience. My only complaint is that the nurse who initially took care of me in the ED did not get me enough pain medicine, and did not care. I was writhing in pain, and my friend had to track down the nurse, who austerely told him, «sir, step away from the nurses station,» as if he were going to cause problems. After reporting this to another nurse and a physician, I was given adequate pain medicine and assigned a new nurse.
