I haven’t had good Greek food since I left Baton Rouge. I got to have Albasha when I was home for Christmas and it was as good as I remembered. So good. So cheap. I wish they had it in Boston.

Im a Unilocalie and always read these reviews. Traveling from Naples Fl to Georgetown Tx and stopped here. Worth a try, great portions, good prices. One daily lunch special enough for 2 people.

Excellent food, even better than the last time I was here. Always plenty of food, not to spicy. I love their Lebanese ice tea. It comes with a smattering of pine nuts on top. I will say service was very odd this go around. We had 4 servers, we kept getting asked the same questions by two different servers. Also they all seemed to disappear for a very long time. Then would come back and in near succession as similar questions. Regardless we’ll be back. It’s a place where as vegetarian I can easily find yummy things and my wife always finds something more conventional to enjoy.

Of all the Greek/Lebanese restaurants in this town this location is by far my favorite. They do an amazing lunch special with generous portions. The service is excellent and the staff is super friendly. The chicken shawarma plate with a side of grape leaf wraps is my go-to. Decent priced wine…

Albasha is very good. They’re on the pricier side of the Greek/Lebanese spectrum in Baton Rouge but they’re well worth it. The Lebanese iced tea is delicious and I enjoy the falafel and gyro. Hummus is among the best in town. Service is friendly and fast. They do excellent take out and I rarely have had any issues here. They have a full bar and table service if you want to sit down and eat. Best of all: no drive thru, so you know it’s legitimate!

We’ve been eating here a number of years and for whatever reason I’m just getting around to posting. We love this place. The wait staff are always knowledgable and fun and the food is consistently good. We always order the Lebanese tea and the pine nuts are a nice touch(their Hammond location doesn’t offer them). Just about all dishes are offered with humus, which is good, but my wife and I prefer their Baba Ganoush which is wonderful. You can substitute it at no additional charge. Personal favorites are steak kabobs, combo platter, and meat moussaka. Looking for good Lebanese food, reasonably priced, in a comfortable place then you should be here.

Ordered the lamb kebab combo with rice, hummus, and salad. I enjoyed the rice and feta salad. I’m extremely picky with rice and found it to be delicious. The Mediterranean flavors are there and the rice was cooked perfectly. I dislike feta, but I was pleased eating everything else in the salad. I am also picky about dressings and found it to be really yummy. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the hummus. It was too tangy for my taste. The pita was so-so since it was not fresh and a little stale. This was my first time eating lamb and while the cook was perfect, I didn’t enjoy it. I don’t like goat and this tasted somewhat similar to me. Next time, I’ll order a different protein. Service was slow and neglectful. In fact, the waiter wanted to take away my plate randomly even though it was half full of food. I had to request that I receive a box instead. Overall, so-so experience but I’m willing to come again for hopefully, a better one.

My other half had introduced his somewhat ethnocentric family to this place years ago, and he had visited occasionally when in town over the years. But, I had never been here, so we fixed that by visiting for lunch on an especially hot balmy day in Baton Rouge. We started with some really superb fried kibbi. Slightly thicker shell than I’m used to, but the light and delicate chickpea batter and really expertly seasoned filling was truly yummy. A nice sized ball(and drool-worthy«Grecian sauce») made this a great value for an appetizer. My chicken shawarma and gyro plate was also a fantastic value – and some of the juiciest flavorful chicken shawarma I’ve had the pleasure of tasting. I’m not certain if the gyro meat is made in house – it tastes just like your average pizza place gyro. Not something to write home about, but fit the bill. Great hummus and fresh feta salad accompany the dish, which provided varied, bold flavors when coupled with the chicken and gyro meat until the last bites. Very satisfying. Perhaps my favorite unexpected thing about my visit were the beverages. We had Lebanese coffees after our meal. Poured from a bubbling pot table-side, it was absolutely delicious: fresh cardamom, strong brew. My full stomach was soothed and the extreme kick of caffeine helped prevent a post delicious meal stupor. Even better was the tea. The Lebanese iced tea was spot-on-refreshing. Bright and citrusy, with hints of rose and just enough sweetness – the flavor and coolness lingered until the A/C in the sweltering car outside took over refreshment duty. Don’t leave without one. A great Greek/Lebanese spot to stop.

This is the best Greek/Lebanese place in Baton Rouge. I’ve been coming here for years so I don’t know why It’s taken me so long to write a review. I’ve only been to this location so I can’t say much about the other locations but when we’ve eaten here the service has always been good and when we get carryout the food is ready in 10 minutes. I like that the quality and quantity of the food is consistent whether you dine in or carryout. We usually get the Combination plate which is the Chicken Shawarma, Gyros, pita bread, hummus, rice & feta salad and share it or when I’m really hungry I usually get the Chicken Shawarma plate for myself. The fried cheese is really good, the feta salad, the chicken shawarma sandwich, the chicken shawarma salad and of course the hummus is amazing. I always have leftovers because the portions are huge and I really like their lemonade and their Lebanese tea. Their service is always great, I called 10 minutes before they closed one day and asked if it was too late to place a carryout order and to my surprise they took my order. When we picked up our food of course the portions were huge and it was fresh. They’re always consistent. I’ve tried other places in Baton Rouge and other cities and to me this is still the best place. In fact, when family comes in from out of town they always ask to eat here before they leave.

Great lunch spot. Very good value for meal. Had a chicken kabob had rice, salad, grilled vegetables and hummus., food was very good flavor and chicken was generous portion and moist. Service was ok. Servers were efficient but seemed robotic. Worth it for the food.

So, this was the first time I have every had Greek and WOW! Albasha’s was so delicious, everything was so hot and came out super quick! My husband and I order the chicken shawarma off the lunch menu it comes with rice, humus, chicken, feta cheese salad, and hot pita bread. Prices were not bad at all and the restaurant was pleasantly clean. A great experience and we will definitely be back.

I thought the food was so delicious. The gyro plate was to die for and I absolutely loved the Lebanese tea. My one issue was how my date and I were treated. We were the only African Americans in at the moment, everyone else was checked on by the manager/owner. Our waiter did not seem to wait to serve us, but there was one waiter who was very helpful. I wish I knew his name so I could give him props. Even though the food was so good, sadly enough we won’t be back because of the way we were treated.

Have dined and picked up at this location over the years — the management has remained the same and I suspect that plays a big part in the consistency in service and food. Menu offers standard fare and for those eating during lunchtime there is s lunch menu. The main dining room has drawings on the walls which are pleasing to view or one can look outside. Service is prompt and one does not have to wait long once your order is placed. My date often orders the vegetarian plate and cannot finish it — she also is complimentary of the quality of the food. I usually order the combination plate — which is gyros, chicken Scheerma, hummus, salad and rice along with pita bread — I can finish it however I am stuffed when done so doggie bag is requested at times — I find this selection is always acceptable. Wish I could provide you more info on the food but that is about what I always order when I go — I rarely deviate from this when I go to a Lebanese restaurant.

OMG I LOVETHISPLACE. Let’s just say I love Greek and Mediterranean food. The gyro plate was absolutely delicious. I can’t say more because I have nothing bad to say. I loved it and it was amazing. Lol. Maybe I’m overselling it, but the gyro plate had everything you need. Fresh pita, wonderful fresh and tasty meat, fresh veggies, delicious hummus. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Consistently good food. Albasha’s is more Lebanese than Greek but very good all the same. I have been eating at Albasha for over 20 years and I have to say they are one of the most consistent restaurants around. They are all located in strip malls and pretty consistent with their casual décor at all of the locations. The S Sherwood location is no exception when it comes to the amount and quality of food served.
The shrimp spinach salad and shrimp kabobs are amazing and satisfies the Cajun in me every time. The eggplant mousaka and baba ganoush have always been favorites as well as the Lamb shank which literally melts in your mouth. Cabbage rolls and grape leaves are moist and seasoned with just the right amount of seasoning. The Albasha platter is loaded(we always opt for the chicken and gyro) and is the perfect size for two people and offers a varied choice of sides. The mezza for two will feed my family of 4 and we are all very satisfied with our options and substitutions can be made to any of the menu items. They also offer vegetarian platter with lots of veggie options so you can create your own plate. We also love the Lebanese tea here and drink way more than our 2 dollars worth!

Best Greek Food in town. Feels like your invited for dinner in their home. Lovely murals on the wall with Bali-wood music makes for a great atmosphere to linger and visit with friends and family. I love the Chicken Schwarma Plate. Comes with a generous portion of chicken, large salad, choice of dip(hummus is the traditional) and rice. Guarantee you will have left overs! It’s our go to place for Greek! We love it.

Visiting a friend for the weekend, he said that I would love this place. Working for a Mediterranean food company, I was skeptical, but pleasantly surprised. The food was typical Lebanese — shawarma, moussaka, etc. We had the fried Halloumi cheese and it was delicious. I had the chicken shawarma on pilaf and it was was delicious. Their hummus was good and the feta they use is delicious. Coming from a person that eats chicken shawarma at least once a week, their product is spot-on and delicious. I was very impressed with this little hidden gem on Sherwood Forest.
