Had a lovely buffet experience, save the company of my fellow customers. Hard to blame a restaurant for that, but it does seem to go hand in hand with the buffet, doesn’t it? Food was super tasty with plenty of variety in the options.

We came here for the lunch buffet with a Groupon. They had two rows, one row being salad, so really it was only one row with actual dishes. I hoped It would be quality over quantity but everything was mediocre and had been sitting there for quite some time. During the hour and a half that we were there, they never refilled any of the dishes even once. Only when we waved the servers down did they take away our old dishes. On top of that, they charged us extra for naan. I won’t be back.

I heard great things about this restaurant and wanted to try it – enjoyed the lunch buffet on my first visit. The food is delicious!!! Everything is so flavorful. The staff is very kind and most attentive. I want to return for dinner sometime and will definitely have lunch here again.

Bought a groupon for take out from this place. We decided to call in an order for a home movie night. We ordered chili paneer, samosas, chicken tkiki masala, lamb biryani and naan. The order was ready when we arrived 15 min later. This place is located in an old fast food restaurant. The smells of Indian food were Awesome when we walked in. Not a fancy place but it was very clean and neat. Transaction with groupon went smoothly. The food was very hot and was still hot when we got home. The portions were huge for the money. The chicken tikki masala was full of tender chicken and the creamy tomato sauce was very flavorful. The naan was fresh and soft. The lamb was tender and the rice full of spices. The samosas were HUGE! They were stuffed full of meat. It was great that put little containers of sauce in with our order. The chili paneer was spicy! I loved it, but was too much for SO. We ate until we were stuff and had enough for another meal. We will definitely try this place again. The food was very good. Plus we have another groupon for the weekend buffet. Can’t wait to use it.

Another awesome meal at Al Noor! Chicken biryani was delicious, chicken korma was just as good. Service perfect. People, if you like Indian food give this place a try! Even if you don’t like it, still try it. Not everything has to be spicy. The dinner service was fantastic. Ask for John to be your waiter. Service with a smile!

Last night I had the pleasure of going to Al-Noor for some delicious Indian cuisine for dinner. The waiter suggested Chicken Samosas for an appetizer, and I ordered Tandoori Shrimp, and Chicken Tikka Masala. The Chicken Samosas were delicious. The chicken inside the samosa tasted very similar to Thai cuisine’s chicken larb. It was delicious! The Tandoori Shrimp was spiced perfectly and the shrimp were cooked wonderfully. The plate came out sizzling and it smelled as good as it tasted. The Chicken Tikka Masala was my favorite dish of the night. The sauce was creamy, the chicken was juicy, and everything tasted FANTASTIC! It was lick the plate delicious. So why 4 stars and not 5? I found it odd that the rice and naan required separate orders and did not come with the meal. If I order Chicken Tikka Masala or Tandoori Shrimp, I’ve become accustomed to(at other Indian restaurants) the entrees to come with rice or naan without extra charge. But here, they require you to actually order the rice or naan and it is extra.

Very pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of the cooking. Came to this restaurant wanting to try the wide variety of dishes this restaurant offers, without much expectations. Ordered the Gobi Manchurian(chicken appetizer). Portion was generous like a small entrée. Spicy dish with sweet and sour sauce. Chicken Saag Methiwalaa(creamy spinach sauce). Dish was outstanding with chicken pieces larger than the chicken pieces seen with most curry dishes; yet they were tender and moist. The sauce was one of the best tasting spinach sauces I’ve had. Goat Roganjosh(brown sauce). Tried this dish in their buffet lunch once and liked it. Goat tastes better than lamb, IMHO. Baghare Baigan(baby eggplant with a little stem left on the eggplant-spice stuffed in peanut coconut sauce with fennel seed. Very pleasant tasting sauce. Also had to order rice to go along with the dishes. We ordered Zafrani rice(spice and decent mix of saffron rice) which I also quite liked. They apparently do quite a few Northern Indian dishes unlike a lot of Indian restaurants in town where they serve dishes from south India. Will definitely go back and try other dishes; quite a refreshing experience. Pricing of dishes is not outrageous and size of serving decent.

Ordered the lamb biryani to go this labor day. It was done fairly quickly and it was super hot when we picked it up. The biryani was a very good portion, we easily could’ve split it over 2 meals if we didn’t over indulge haha. Very flavorful, they don’t skimp on the lamb at all. I’d definitely order this to go more often. So yummy.

This is BYFAR the best Indian cuisine in the Baton Rouge. The lunch buffet is phenomenal and a steal for the price. The staff is all family and the service is prompt. My favorite was the tandoori chicken with stewed spinach. Building is located in the old Pizza Hut on Jones Creek in the Albertson’s parking lot…

One of our(my wife and I) two favorite Indian restaurants in Baton Rouge. This restaurant is a tableside service and the other favorite is a buffet so a bit different to compare… both have great food. The samosas are a great go-to appetizer always and I think I have tried just about every entrée on the menu by now. The service is always great and the cook/owner is also very friendly and helpful when you have questions or special requests. One of the more flavorful Indian restaurants you will find and they are making it from scratch the way they would in India. Worth the visit!

We tried it because we got a groupon, it was good but nothing too special, it was a bit too greasy. I wouldn’t pay normal price for it…

I will definitely come back to this restaurant. The food was spiced right and there was enough people eating that the tins kept getting refilled. The owners were working the floor and talking to the patrons in an honest and caring way. I loved it. They had 3 soups to try, and I tried 2 of them. They also had a wide range of veggie dishes which I also appreciate. If I was local I’d make this a normal place to go. It’s in an old Pizza Hut.

First time guest, so I was informed that the lunch buffet was the only option during lunch hours… I was mistaken by the waitress whom I was told was her first day. The buffet menu is very scarce. Two chicken options, two rice options, two sauces, one lamb, some salad, pudding etc. VERYSCARCE. After one small plate, I decided to order off the menu which was provided to me by the menu. I ordered chicken tikka yet was was served to me was chicken tandoori in a tikka sauce. I can see the bright red color of the chicken meat and the holes where the skewers were placed. I don’t like to be lied too in such blatant manner. I was also charged for both the menu item AND the buffet which I only had RICE from a $ 11 buffet rice is ridiculous. I would never come here again. Extremely disappointed!!! Update: terrible tummy ache the next day after lunch here :(

Namaste everyone! This is only my 3rd time eating Indian food, so I wouldn’t say I’m an expert… yet. I’ll just tell you my opinion. Compared to the more fine-dining experience at Bay Leaf on Sherewood I had 2 yrs ago, this is more of a «Maw-n-Paw.» Don’t let the look of the restaurant discourage you. This place is like a hidden gem. I picked up food for my friend and I, while we packed for her summer internship in Houston. Since she was a vegetarian, I let her call in and make the order, and I would pick it up on my way over to her place. I was ready to expand my taste buds for a meatless evening. My friend ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees for us. For the appetizer we shared Papadi Chaat. For less than $ 4, it packed a lot of flavor! Think of your favorite taco salad/7 layer dip, but with an Indian twist. A bottom layer of crispy papdi bits; topped with a few whole chickpeas; a generous portion of crumbled pieces of paneer; a dash of hand chopped red onion pieces; a layer of Greek yogurt; a layer of tangy tamarind house-made sauce; a layer of green mint coriander chutney; and topped with roughly chopped leafy cilantro pieces. I’m not sure if the hint of lime I taste is from the green mint chutney, but it was a refreshing hint of acidity the dish needed to wake up my taste buds! The Paneer Tikka Marsala was my favorite! The flavor was rich and creamy, with lots of Paneer bits(type of curd cheese used in Indian cooking). The Malai Kofta was not as creamy as the previous dish, but just as good. Malai means cream and Kofta means dumplings. The dish had 4 – 5 medium hand roll portions of Kofta; which is made up of mash-potato and chopped up vegetables and hand rolled to be steamed or fried. I’m not sure if those dish was made with paneers, but according to my friend, most recipes include them. I wasn’t a fan of their rice, but their naan was perfect to dip into the dishes’ gravy. The only problem, and maybe why they wouldn’t get 5 stars from me, was $ 9 for 4 naan?! Wow. Pricy! The customer service(par takeout) was friendly. I notice they serve lunch buffet. Maybe I’ll come by one day on my lunch break and try it out. So it wasn’t the most healthiest dinner I was planning for when I assumed we were having a vegetarian dinner, but it was quite awesome. And the best part, we thought 2 dishes were not gonna be enough… but we had plenty enough to feed 6 people at one sitting; or enough for me for the next 2 meal.

If you’re looking for reasonably priced authentic Indian food, in a very clean environment, with prompt and friendly service, I highly recommend Al Noor. I have eaten here a handful of times and have always enjoyed it. They have a lunch buffet which I have only had once– it was great. For dinner, they serve plates. I always order the Veg Thali– which is a sampler plate of all of their best vegetarian dishes. Also, their Naan(Indian bread) is phenomenal. They also do delivery and take-out.

Best Indian food in BR, hands down, although it’s perhaps not as nice on the inside as a couple of its competitors.(It’s an older building which I’m pretty sure used to be a Pizza Hut). We usually get the non-veg thali(which is sort of a sampler plate) and an order of garlic naan, and it’s enough for two unless you’re seriously starving. The samosas are also good for a starter. Haven’t tried the buffet yet, as I’m never on that end of town during those hours. I can only assume the bulk of their business is lunch, because it’s never crowded at dinner time.(That’s a good thing for me, as I don’t like waiting.) Service is always polite, and they’re very helpful explaining the menu items when I want to try something new.(The menu is quite diverse, so you’ve got lots of room to be adventurous). I guess the only complaint I have about the offerings is lack of a palak pakora dish, but that’s a very minor thing. This place is definitely worth a try if you like Indian food, or if you’re looking to try it for the first time.
