Academy

I was rather impressed with the customer service we received at this store — at lease from our rep. He was extremely helpful, when finding rollerblades /​in-​line skates for my daughter and husband. They did not have the exact size that my daughter needed, but we ended up buying the next size up and it was okay. Anyway, the nice man that helped us spent a lot of time making sure we got exactly what we needed. The store is maintained very well and extremely clean. I wouldn’t come here all the time for my sporting needs because prices are a bit high for some items. It’s fun to look at all what they have available though. There were many items available for outdoor adventures, extreme sports and activewear. It’s conveniently located on Airline Hwy (across from the Cortana Mall). Parking is a cinch and I have never had to fight for it. The holidays or large sale days could be a whole different story.

The footwear employees are very helpful. Have a nice selection of running clothes but sad assortment of biking clothes/​accessories. Dressing rooms are very nice and clean.

I needed a new pair of work boots and found my way to Acadamy. Good selection, nice store, we will be back.

Academy is Baton Rouge’s Best sports store for the hunter and fisherman. They also have very complete boating, clothing, exercise, barbecue, shoe departments and pretty much anything else you would expect to find in a sporting goods store. I am primarily a fisherman’ so the following comments apply to this and mens clothing.
Anything, and I mean anything needed for freshwater or saltwater fishing can be found here. Many items are priced below retail — mens clothes can be extremely cheap. Their warranty policy is the most liberal I have ever encountered. If you don’t like it or it doesn’t work properly, bring it back and it will be replaced with same or similar.
All in all, a great store. Academy has a number of stores throughout Baton Rouge and Louisiana. I’ve gotten the same great service at several other locations.
