I would certainly not recommend renting here. There are a number of reasons this is the case. We lived here for 8 months until the beginning of May 2014 1. Poor customer service. The main entrance door to the apartment unit we lived had a lock that was broken for 4 months of our stay there. I asked the staff to fix the problem over and over again and they never fixed the lock. 2. Poor construction. We rented a very small 700 square foot apartment. This unit had energy bills that were higher than our previous apartment that was double the size. 3. The staff will keep your security deposit for no reason. We left the apartment in MINT condition, had the carpets steam cleaned and deep cleaned all areas. I was an apartment manager for 10 years and would have gladly returned security deposits for units in similar conditions to ours. The staff claimed that they had to replace all carpets and held us liable despite the fact that the carpets were not new when we moved in and had no damage. I would recommend for anyone that lives there that you do an amazing job of documenting the state of the apartment, including detailed pictures of the carpet before you move in. On the positive side, the management did a good job of snow removal, the apartment was in good condition when we took occupancy, and they have tennis courts. Other than that would highly recommend staying away.

I lived at Somerset for a year and I am happy that we did not renew our lease. I did not have a good experience with the staff! After we left the apartment they mailed us a $ 1200 dollar bill on top of keeping our security deposit to pay for new carpet that they said was ruined. We had one small dog while we lived at the apartment. Our dog has also lived with us at multiple other apartments which have never given us a problem about the carpet. We were charged an additional $ 50 a month for the dog, which should have covered any cost to clean the carpets after we left. When we left we felt that the carpet did not all have to be changed and that this bill was outrageous. We took pictures when we left and have proof that the carpets were in the condition they were when we moved in. They argued that they needed to charge us for not only the cost of the carpet itself, but also for the labor. The carpet was 7 years old and they argued that it should have been good for at least ten years. I personally think is ridiculous when you have a pet friendly apartment and are charging additional rent for having a pet. When we called to speak to management about the bill they stated that they could show us some other examples of residents who had to pay this cost as well, which makes me think this must happen a lot. I feel that if the apartment does allow pets then they should expect some things to need fixing after a resident leaves. We tried to resolve this dispute with the maintenance staff but they would not take any settlements we offered and we ended up going to mediation. We settled on a smaller bill which was still outrageous for the case. I am so glad to be out of this apartment complex and would not recommend it to anyone. I would definitely warn you to read your lease agreement carefully and kiss your security deposit goodbye if you have a pet!
