Great service. Tasty Macho Nachos. Their Philly cheese steak sandwich was delicious. Best place you can go to in Bastrop for food, drinks and karaōke.

I was very disappointed with this place. With its location you would expect the service to be better. Well I walked in and sat at the bar. When the bartender finally did notice me and step away from his pool game he was playing I ordered a beer that was warm. I ended up ordering the raspberry chipotle wings(they sounded really good) well they showed up and smelled really good. NOT! they had very little sauce on them which is disappointing since maybe the great flavor of the sauce I did taste could have helped the fact that the chicle was way over cooked. Next I ordered the Cabo shrimp tacos. They were actually quite good. The only thing if you are going to do a shrimp taco then elevate it all the way with better cheese so not cheap $ 3 bag of cheese from the local grocery store. So the service sucked and the food was lest the mediocre. This is the first time I have ever rated any place lower than 3 stars.

I came here on a Tuesday evening with some coworkers. We arrived around 7pm. The waitress took several minutes to greet us and get drink/appetizer orders. While waiting for the appetizers we had to ask a manager to wipe our table down though she seemed annoyed. We put in our orders for a main courses consisting of all burgers and one order of tacos. A different large group came in 30 minutes after we ordered, were greeted by the same waitress, received their food, finished, and asked for checks before we even saw a single main course. No one seemed concerned about our meals until they realized our food had been in on order for an hour. By the time the last meal came to our table an hour and a half had passed. The food was cold and the small substitutions were wrong ie. add jalapeños, no mayo, ect. The manager offered us 50% off our meal for our troubles but it was way too little, too late. Positives: the music selection was awesome, and I was here so long that the basketball game I wanted to watch at home started and the channel was changed to it. Will I come back here? Probably if it comes under new management. Worst service I’ve had in 4 years.

This spot delivers great food and top-notch service every time! I’ve been to Old Town on a handful of occasions when visiting friends in the Bastrop/Austin area. Each experience has left me and my friends completely satisfied, so it’s become a regular stop when I’m in town. The burgers are tasty and hearty, as are the wings. I also recommend their pork chop and salads. The beer, of which there is ample selection, is ice cold(I’m pretty particular about that). Just as important, the staff is ALWAYS friendly and eager to serve. On a couple of occasions the manager/owner came by our table to say hello and ensure we were all set. As a random out-of-towner, I didn’t expect the royal treatment. Finally, the atmosphere is casual, clean and social. There are TVs scattered throughout the bar, so it’s a perfect spot to catch a game(or 10). The shuffle board and pool tables are in excellent condition. In sum, the folks at Old Town seem to be doing everything right, and I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Hands down we were excited to come here… we went a few weeks ago had Janet and she was the BEST waitress ever! Since it was our first time she was helpful friendly attentive everything we needed! Went back and had a different waitress was not as good, she wasn’t too friendly and was ok. The food wasn’t that good this time… the first time the Philly rocked… this time I got the chicken fried steak… it was ok nothing to brag about… its more the atmosphere. …it’d go back to see Janet and try different food items…

I am from Bastrop and used to love this place when it was the Oyster Bar. I took my husband here on a date a while back to show him my home town and it was OK. Super loud, service was kind of awful, like we actually started making a game over how many times the bar staff would choose to help some dude-bro or good ol’ boy who just sat down over two heavily tattooed people(us) sitting there waiting and trying to get her attention. We decided just not to go back. More recently, we wanted to get an early family dinner in downtown Bastrop, I am 8 months pregnant and we had our 3-year-old. We ended up back at the Old Town Restaurant and Bar and realized where we were. We decided to just give it a chance, it was the early evening, it seemed quiet, so we figured maybe the service would be better and we could try their food. No one greeted us when we came in, we sat ourselves… and we kept sitting for a good 30 min. The waitress(young girl, blondish pony-tail, and bejeweled jeans) saw us and kept going to other customers, never once coming to take our order or even get us waters. Eventually, another wait staff came up to us, she seemed kind of annoyed, and asked if we had been helped. We told her the other chick saw us, looked at us every time she passed, and ignored us, so no, we had not been assisted. The waitress did not seem surprised, apologized, and offered to take our order. My husband asked what was on tap or what they had, the waitress did not know, she said she just got back from vacation. Eventually, she was able to tell us. We asked what different menu items were, again, she did not know, and had to check. We placed our order and waited, and waited. We waited for over 45 min. with no word from the waitress, my tea totally empty and no refills. The wait staff began moving all of the tables to clear a dance area, including the waitress that had taken our order– meanwhile, we were still without food or refills. Glad to see customers take priority. We asked if we were in the way or could be moved, they explained it was karaōke night and that we weren’t in the way. However, the karaōke singer would have been right behind us and the dance floor would have been next to us. This would have been great information for them to tell us before we ordered so maybe we could be at another table. They didn’t seem interested in us moving and didn’t get why we wanted to move. We gave up. We saw the same waitress that ignored us greet other customers and put them at a table right next to us, and grabbing their order quickly. Thanks, bitch, for showing us that you totally did not want to serve us when we came. We also noticed customers that had come in after us getting drink refills and their food quickly. My husband was starting to get pissed off. We had been there forever and there was no sign of our food. He wanted to get out of there before the karaōke started, so we wouldn’t be directly next to that and dancing. So much for a nice family dinner. Eventually, the waitress hurriedly brought out our food — no apology for the length of time it took and no explanation. My husband immediately asked for the check, since we figured it would take the inept wait staff another hour to come back. We are not going to be going back — the food was the only OK thing about this place, but not worth the wait. The staff seem to want to help only obvious locals, and not tattooed, out-of-town families(sorry to bust your bubble here waitresses, but if you see heavily tattooed people, assist them with a smile, don’t prejudge/ignore — tattoos cost a lot of money, meaning we have money to spend/tip, additionally families will probably spend more than some dude-bro ordering crap beer — so ignore us, act annoyed, whatever, and you miss out on a golden opportunity and we will just take our money elsewhere). It just really sucks that I was trying to show my husband/family a good time in downtown Bastrop to get a piece of the great, little town I grew up in and the locals act like uppity, inept jerks with zero interest in hospitality to out-of-towners.

Good service. Okay good. Nothing seriously made me say, «omg», but it was good and filled the void in our empty stomachs after a day of drinking and kayaking. Great service for our party of 6. Worth a visit to support a local business.

The staff there is very friendly and really knows what they are doing! The buffalo chicken sandwich is to die for and they have really good onion chips as an option instead of fries. Really good local vibe! Always recommend it to others looking for a good time and good food.

I’ve had several of the burgers and the catfish. It’s all been great. I can highly recommend the queso as an app and the bread pudding as dessert. Bar staff is fantastic. Very well trained and proffesional. NIce atmosphere with a good local vibe. Also, love the music selection!

Fantastic bar. The food is awesome. Not sure what these negative reviews are all about. My experience has always been positive. The bartenders are professional, skilled and friendly. The new owners who took it over when it was Cindy’s have done a fantastic job of making the place much more inviting and fun. They have plenty of TVs and the beer is ice cold. What more can you want in a bar. Without a doubt, the best place to get a drink in Bastrop. Did I mention the manager is SMOKINGHOT! And also very good at managing her superb team of servers, cooks, and bartenders. This place is great.

Used to be a pretty good place to hangout. The staff is clueless & the food was horrible, How can you mess up NACHOS… The chips were cold and saggy, it felt as if they were cooked last week & reheated on the microwave… Not GOOD. Ran out of GLASSES to drink? are you kidding me … the were 12 people in there. Not a good experience… 2 stars: the drinks were good(1 out of 3 is BAD)

I really liked the setting of the bar. I love when you go somewhere and you meet people that are just separate ends of a spectrum! This bar had some CHARACTERS in it for sure. I had wings… they were delish! I also had the fries… also great. Service was worth the tip. We went for lunch and stayed for hours… Happy hour was awesome. Left spending less than I expected. I will definitely be returning! The only bad: the table was a bit dirty.

It gets any stars based on the fast and friendly service and that my husband liked his chicken fried steak. I ordered the cheese dip with chicken and water. Chips were chewy and way past old to rancid! Sent the chips back and they brought out a batch«fresh from the fryer» which meant they were hot and crispy but still tasted like rancid grease. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with fries and tea. He liked the chicken fry. I tried one of his fries which seemed as if it had been fried up and then sat for a while til cold and then refried to heat up. They were very heavy and not appetizing. They actually didn’t taste of rancid grease so must be a different fryer. That said, I guess it’s more drinking bar than eating establishment. Bill came and cost for this was about $ 24.00. Not for me!

It was late, there were few options and we were starving — so yeah, we went to a bar for food. Maybe they sensed my starvation because the nachos I ordered could have fed two armies. I was warned that it was large enough to share but no one told me it was large enough to share with everyone in the place! When it landed, and I’m pretty sure it had to be choppered in, I was so embarrassed. This plate is why Europeans make fun of us fat Americans. I proudly put a good dent it-for my country. The other orders were normal people size but still filling(which why I couldn’t get rid of my dang nachos). The girls were happy with their burgers and polished off everything(did I mention we were starving?). The waitress was cool and the atmosphere is very laid back. I give it a thumbs up for late night food and would happily go back.
