I came here today with my brother Daniel just before I saw his red tail lights heading to Spain. Anyways, the food was great. I got the chicken salad and my god it was like I was a rocket man burning out my fuse out here alone. I highly recommend you stop by and try the food. Hold me closer tiny dancer and count the headlights on the highway.

Terrible counter service. Too busy talking to friends to pay attention to paying customers.

The myriad choices available to someone wanting a simple cup of very good coffee is readily overachieved here, I think they had 3 or four options here. My wifey had a frozen blended drink and she loved it, I went with a hot coffee, a dark brew is all I can remember, very good. By the time we got our drinks, the line was halfway to the door, i’m guessing everybody already knows about this place, we’ll be back for more of this!

Have purchased $ 25-$ 40 worth of breakfast items for meetings we had for 4 days straight. Most of their items a great. Good size. If you want a nice sweet treat with your morning coffee, they are a good bet. The cinnamon rolls are quite large, the scones are good with good flavorings such as snickerdoodle, raspberry chocolate, muffins, etc. Had breakfast tacos one morning, they are a bit pricey at $ 2.40 each but had a good amount of eggs, bacon, potato, cheese, etc. They were good though. As far as the coffee, I am a bit of a snob and when traveling, I bring my own ground coffee and do a pour over method for each cup using 4tbs of coffee for 12 oz cup. So when I tried their coffee, it was a bit weak for me. I prefer my coffee to be stronger so I couldn’t really get a good taste for the coffee. I only had coffee one day this week. I might grab a 1lb to take back and try so I can make it the way I like. There are a lot of locals that come in, a Judge has been there every time I was there 6 days over 2 mth period with the local old timers coming in and talking with him like they were holding court. Wifi was good too.

Wanted to like this place, since it’s a small roastery competing against the big guys. Coffee was watery and bland. Breakfast sandwich took 10 minutes to heat up and tasted like cardboard. We came here because of the good reviews, but I don’t think we will come back.

First off, Coffee dog has always been my go-to spot after working out because they offer great coffee and have a healthy raw veggie wrap. I have only ever ordered the veggie wrap despite the fact that they are completely inconsistent and you never know exactly how it will come to you… with cheese, without cheese, overstuffed with no dressing, too much dressing and meager filling, whatever. I still eat them and never complain. But this time was different. They forgot the avocado and there was barely a spec of their delicious dressing so I brought it to their attention after waiting some time for my wrap. They took it back and I waited even longer. You would think that my to-go order would be a simple fix that would be 1st in line. But, no. and thats ok, not optimal, but… When I got it back my server briefly apologized to which I said ‘no problem’, even though it was a problem waiting so long as we were not planning on being in there quite so long. Other places may have offered some restitution, a cheap cookie or something, for such a long wait and a mistake but, no. And i wouldn’t have taken the cookie but its the thought that counts. But that was also ok up to this point. But, when I opened the wrap again I found TWOSPECS of avocado the size of my pinky nail on one side and 3 pieces the size my thumbnail on the other side. Barely qualifying as having avocado at all in this big wrap. I once again brought this to their attention to which my server made excuses and tried to tell me what I was seeing rather than owning up to the reality. My Father had seen the wrap and was laughing. Surely it was a joke. This is what we waited so long for? At this point my patience was over and I said just forget it. As i left with my incomplete wrap, and with my internal fluster and frustration, i left behind my phone, only realizing this when we were a block away. I was so shocked at the lack of any attempt to rectify the situation and the complete lethargy on behalf of the staff(who are NEVER at the register when I come in. And this time was no exception as my Father pointed out they were in the back shooting the breeze while we waited for them to decide to do their job). Once we realized my phone had been left behind on the table my Father went back and went to the register to inquire. The girl said no phone had been turned in and she wasn’t aware of any phone. Two ladies where were inside when we were piped up and said they had in fact seen the phone taken behind the register. The server, at that point, went to ask the other male server about the phone which was there all along. My Father said she looked almost disappointed when he came back in to ask about it. I typically err on the side of wait staff as it is not a job one typically revels in but these people have no sense of working with customers or business. There seems to be a lack of training in basic consistency control over food prep or how to rectify situations with customers so they don’t walk out feeling like they matter less than the days trash. If they didn’t have avocado they could’ve just said that… otherwise i just don’t know what the problem was. Unfortunately neither my Father, myself, nor my Sisters will be going to coffee dog again. Its not worth it anymore. I hope someone opens a good alternative to this place with staff that can use good judgement. I realize this complaint is a First World problem but I see all of that slipping away anyway due to this kind of behavior. I just know if i were working there in the same situation I would never let a customer walk out feeling and KNOWING they got less than they paid for. Maybe the staff needs to drink more of the coffee they serve. Im not sure what the problem is.

You have got to try the cinnamon rolls in this place! The best hometown coffeehouse I have been in in a long time!

Not great coffee, bad pastry(I think it was frozen then thawed out) and they don’t even seem to understand or have any training regarding brewing tea or coffee– so sad and disappointing. Main Street Café has great food and awesome coffee– go there instead

I absolutely love their green smoothies and black coffee. Such a cute place to go for studying or lunch dates. They also make a fresh fruit salad and chicken salad sandwiches that are to die for!

This place was ok. Very nice people working here. It’s in a strip mall which I wasn’t expecting based off of the other reviews. The something-bird sandwich was so-so, the smoothie tasted like it had some artificial sweetener or flavor added but I can’t be sure since I didn’t ask. The morning glory muffins was excellent! The space is big but they didn’t do much to make it feel particularly warm décor-wise. All in all, this place has great potential.

–Seven different kinds of quiche –Real fruit and yogurt smoothies –Baked potatoes with chopped brisket, broccoli cheese or fully loaded –Sausage and cheese kolaches –Bacon cheese and jalapeño scones –Cinnamon rolls –Cheesecake brownies –Breakfast tacos –Mediterranean salad –Amy’s ice cream –Italian sodas –Bagels and flavored cream cheeses –Homemade oatmeal …the list goes on! All I had was a cappuccino and a cinnamon roll and both were pretty bad. It was a good little study spot, though, and quantity over quality isn’t always a bad thing.

Whether you live in Bastrop, or are just passing through… this place is worth a stop if you want good coffee or food. It’s right off 71 in a small shopping center. They actually roast their own coffee here and sell it as well. I was mighty pleased with my peppermint mocha frappé, and Mr. Man is obsessed with the iced chai latte since he has gotten it many times. They offer breakfast and also baked goods that they make in store. Where else can you get a raspberry mocha frappé or a coffee malt or a cheesecake brownie or a jumbo Elgin sausage bagel wrap? Exactly nowhere. They offer a plethora of sandwiches and salads as well. We tried the Veggie Wrap which had tons of spinach and was delicious. With a drive-thru and WiFi, and being owned by locals, it doesn’t get much better. I’ll definitely be stopping here again when I’m out that way.

Came in for our first time, 15 minutes before close. Got our ice cream and sat down, 1 minute after«closing» time they came Around to tell us they were closing, never saying«feel free to finish» etc. it was just very bizarre . I’d like to come back and try the food, looks like fresh«quick» menu! I think I will come again, but hope staff is just a little more hospitable.

Fresh Juice??? I think not. A guy comes in and makes juice in the morning… and days later, when it is gone, he makes more. This is not fresh! Plus they use bottled apple juice and NON-ORGANIC veggies! Why would I want a glass of two day old pesticides??? Plus the owner was rude and could really care less what my needs as a customer were. See ya!

Really? 7.50 for a chicken salad sandwich? Not only was the owner rude and abrasive she had the kid that took my money go in back to make the sandwich. If he washed his hands it wasn’t in the hand sink nor did he use any gloves, I walked over to an opening viewed all this. The $ 7.50 sandwich consisted of about a tablespoon of filling and the rest was that crappy lettuce that resembles weeds from my garden. Needless to say I turned around and walked out, not a word from said owner… How the hell do they stay open? I’m all for the small business but for that kind of rudeness I’ll stick to Starbucks, at least they’ll bend over to make things right.

If you are in the area of Bastrop you should visit this place. Locally owned! The staff and the owners are so friendly… the kind of place a small town needs. A lot of the staff has been there over 6 years … from the day they opened. They now have a juice bar with fresh wheatgrass. meal items and of course all the coffee you could want.

If you’re headed through Bastrop, Texas and seeking some nice local coffee this is indeed it. As you can see by our photos the baristas were quite proud of their offerings, showed us the green coffee beans in the sacks and the roaster that the owner uses in the mornings. We tried the Bastrop Blend and it was World Class. For people that don’t even think they like coffee life the Folger’s drinkers or anyone that has never tried fresh roasted, this truly was lovely. The aroma and flavor was a nice as the caffeine experience before having to get back out the highway with the rest of you fast bastards. :) We will stop by here every time while coming through Bastrop.

I prefer this place over Starbucks. Something about it feels much more laid back, the staff will be nice to you(not to say that the Starbucks has bad staff). The place has much more seating and area than the competing Starbucks in town, and they offer just the same amount of types of coffee. My personal favorite on the menu would be the vanilla bean frappuccino, second being the iced hazelnut latte. Visit this place if you ever come to Bastrop and are looking for some great coffee! They roast and sell their own coffee beans, it’s pretty neat!
