We had dinner here recently. While it is a little noisy, the early American atmosphere is very nice. The food and service was great and not overpriced.

When making reservations, I expected to be seated in the dining room. Instead, we were seated in the pub room — which was parallel to the bar. Unfortunately, it was pretty noisy that evening. This made it impossible for any dinner conversation or hearing what the waiter was saying. I decided to go back to the hostess and question why we were seated in the bar area after having made reservations. The hostess responded that I did not specifically request the main dining room. Since I was never in the restaurant before, that really made no sense to me. I would think that the hostess should provide those options when a guest is making reservations — not after the fact. I was given the option of waiting at the bar until another table became available — however, there would be a considerable wait. I opted to go back to the table and avoid any further discussion with the hostess. Shortly after that discussion, I noticed what I think was the manager come into the area and clean up two tables. I had explained to him what happened and asked if we could move to a table further away from the bar. He agreed and we did that. After we were reseated, he felt it necessary to come back and say I would not have been satisfied in the main dining room since it was just as loud. Not sure if that was appropriate — but I left it at that. The dinner was OK… nothing outstanding. The only positive part of the evening was a very nice waiter(Luis).

First time to this restaurant we came in 6 minutes prior to closing hoping we could at least order food to go. The waiter asked us to sit down and have a meal. Our order came out in about 7 minutes. Cooked to perfection and each order was different. The service and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Went back after my first time thinking it would be much better service. The food is good of what I had. However the service is very very bad. When I spoke to the manager, he would not listen to me but complain about my earlier review. I was there for dinner while my child was at sweet 16 and this time they never brought us our appetizer just our dinner. The owner needs to get involved and clean this place up cause locals like me just stop going

such a charming place! while the place in general is pretty large in size the smaller dining areas made it feel like i was at a ski resort in Utah! bf and I were seated in the cutest nook in the back facing the front of resto, perfect view and setting for great dinner! I started with the warm crab claws, they were good but could be so much better without the batter and spicy mayo, a buttered dipping sauce alone would be perfect! nonetheless, we ate them all! I also had the red lentil soup which was great and bf had the chicken quesadilla which looks like an inside/out pizza. We shared the roasted chicken and had enough for the next day. I wish I would’ve had room for dessert because their milkshakes and offerings looked amazing.

My Mom and I had lunch here yesterday after an appointment in Morristown. Since my sister lives in the area we’ve eaten at Grain House many times over the years and have had an enjoyable meal every single time. I must say yesterday was no exception. The menu is not huge but what they serve is high quality and I understand much of the ingredients are locally sourced. Love that. – Also, I understand that overages are given to local food bank. That is wonderful as well. Ok – the food. My Mom had a cheeseburger and I had a Daily Special: A BLT Roast turkey breast with applewood bacon and some type of cheese. As requested I had the aioli roasted cherry pepper(or some such) dressing. We both declared our choice delicious. The fries appear to be hand cut. Also very tasty. I wish we had saved room for the dessert of the day as it was coconut rice pudding with a caramel whip cream and toasted granola. Sounds simple BUT I am certain it was delightful. I said we have eaten at GHMANY times. That is true for Lunch and Sunday Brunch which is terrific also. We have never been there for dinner but I feel certain it is just as good. My family and I will likely return to The Grain House for a celebration or lunch in the near future.

Rustic find! I ordered the Portabella Mushroom dinner. $ 22 dollars. Fantastic flavors popped out with hints of coconut milk. Textures ranged and the dish was just fabulous. Service was excellent. I highly recommend this place.

I visited with my family on Monday night. It was not busy. The experience over all was good and most of the food was excellent. The wine was great and the bread basket was awesome! There was a wide variety of warm breads to chose from; a nice selection. For an appetizer we got zucchini blossoms. I would not get them again. It came with 3 very small pieces. They tasted over battered and over fried; no zucchini taste at all. Other than the disappointing appetizer, everything else was great. The 6oz filet minion was cooked to perfection! It was so delicious! I got a side of the roasted garlic gorgonzola butter and it was phenomenal. It was great on the side so I could chose the amount and it wouldn’t overpower the steak. The sides of green beans and mashed potatoes were also good. I read a review saying the food was too salty but I did not experience that during my visit. I have been here once before for lunch and wasn’t blown away, but after visiting for dinner I would definitely return. The deserts were also yummy! We all shared white peach sorbet, white chocolate gelato, and a key lime tart. The sorbet was good but they added coconut to the top of the key lime tart, which I wasn’t crazy about.

Attended a wedding at the Grain House. Food and atmosphere were very high quality. Perhaps it was due to the open bar, but the general consensus amongst many guests is that drinks were very watered down. Most who drank throughout the night barely all agreed that mix drinks had no effect on guests of all ages and sizes.

Brunch was great! Most everything was tasty, fresh and of high quality. The omelettes were cooked perfectly. Food consisted of scrambled egg, potatoes, wild mushroom ravioli, sausage, bacon, ham, turkey, eggs Benedict, melons, fresh pineapple, pastries and much more. The only thing that I didn’t like was the sausage. It had a strange aftertaste. Coffee was nice and strong. We were in a private room for a party of 40 people and our servers were very good. They kept the coffee flowing and made sure to clear the dishes promptly because everyone was going back for second and third helpings! Dessert was a bit sweet, especially the blueberry cobbler. I enjoyed the chocolate banana bread pudding. There were strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and so refreshing. The Greek yogurt was delicious and the whipped cream was homemade. My daughter and husband stocked up on the chocolate chip cookies. Overall, excellent brunch. My husband, who is not into brunch, said it was the best he’s ever had.

Outstanding!!! We love going here for brunch and for dinner. The French onion soup is amazing as well as the stuffed avocado salad. The little cornbread muffins are one of the best that I’ve ever had… Great service, the waiter was sweet and very attentive and helpful! Has a great historic feel and overall a great place to enjoy quality time with friends and family. Would recommend to anyone and everyone who is in the area…

One of our favorite go-to places to regularly grab a bite to eat any day of the week. Food is like pub fair with a modern elegance. The wait staff is always attentive and extremely courteous. I absolutely recommend this for a casual night out.

Have been here twice now. We love the historic atmosphere and charm. We’ve ordered ribs, chicken, lamb, and fish… It was all delicious and ingenuous. Servers and staff are always friendly. Karl was on the ball tonight and even chased us to the parking lot to give us our forgotten leftovers. We’ll be back’

Very impressed with their service and of the food quality. Place was packed as it was around lunch time. Serve amazing food here. Great for taking your family out to lunch/dinner or even to have a business meeting with a client. Will definitely be coming back!

I really want to be able to give this place five stars because their Sunday brunch is the best in the area but I can’t because of our recent dinner experience and one very rude woman. Our dinner was pleasant but the food was not very good, certainly not worth the $ 100+ that we paid for it. It was all slightly over or under cooked and seasonings were either too heavy or not enough. The dessert however, the brownie trio with ice cream, was very good and a nice way to end it. Brunch on Sundays is usually busy so I recommend a reservation. The food is very good and there is a nice selection. Prices are also a little lower than some other similar restaurants in the area. Try not to let the rude older woman at the front ruin your experience. This is actually hard to do since she is unpleasant from the moment you walk in the door. Even when we have a reservation, she huffs and puffs and acts like we are somehow putting her out by coming to done there. When we showed up with our infant, I was pretty sure she did not want to seat us and she treated us twice as poorly as usual, complaining to the other hostess, who is always nice and friendly, that our baby would annoy everyone. Note: our baby was silent and sleeping through the entire meal and yet when we left she still muttered something under her breath clearly annoyed that we were there at all.

I’ve only been here for Sunday brunch so I cannot comment about the other menu items. They offer a buffet brunch on Sundays. They have salads, cheese/fruit platters, traditional breakfast fare(eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.), a panini station, an omelette station, and a dessert bar. The food was good but I found most of the desserts to be too sweet for my liking. However, that’s very subjective. My friend was devouring them. I give this place 4 stars for brunch because of the extensive buffet, reasonable price, and the atmosphere.

Just happened to be in the area and needed to grab a bite to eat. Noticed this place, which seemed like a nice brunch spot. The service was good, waitstaff being friendly and attentive; nothing lacking in that department. The food was decent overall, but really nothing above and beyond a standard Jersey diner. The burger was very good. The meat was tasty and medium-rare just like I asked, though I wish the egg on top was not overcooked. I like mine runny, like the way they make it at the place called Food in Summit. My wife liked the french onion soup. The sausage was rather terrible, having some sort of metallic aftertaste. The fries were lacking in texture and quality. The french toast was a bit too dry for my taste. For these reasons, I had to ding them by at least one star. The bread basket was outstanding! Among the best I’ve ever had anywhere, especially the blueberry muffin bread.

My husband and I felt hungry after visiting our dentist for our semi-annual checkup. This place was right across street from there. So we decided to give it a try. :Ambiance: A very historical looking place in the middle of no where, with a lot of older local crowds. The dinning room looked like a museum. :Food: The French Onion Soup is a must have. It was very cheesy but not overwhelmed with salt. The bread basket was very good too. Since we were here during the Saturday brunch time, the breads were sweet, like blueberry muffin, cinnamon roll, cherry muffin and croissant. The burger was pretty good too. It was cooked medium well as asked. Very juicy. The Brioche French Toast was ok. It had a steel taste. I guess it was from the grill pan. :Service: The staff were very nice and helpful. I would like to go there again and try other items.

Ferment grains and you get. beer! This review is for the Coppertop Pub in the Grain House, a rather civilized quiet place with maybe a dozen stools and exactly 12 beers on tap including standards like Guinness, Smithwick and coors light plus some nice local crafts like Kane IPA. Low lighting, an extraordinarily low ceiling — seriously you have to watch out for waiters bringing food past you from the kitchen — and pleasantly low noise level, this is a place for adults. TVs were showing sports but with zero volume. Unfortunately this bar doesn’t believe in the theory of happy hour argh so no price reductions at the usual times on weekdays. But prices are not outlandish. A pound of wings at the bar was served super steaming hot with a nicely spicy Buffalo sauce on top plus celery and real bleu cheese dip, yummy, reasonable at $ 9 for 10 wingers. Our beers were $ 6.50-$ 7 each so they’re not giving anything away but the bartender was friendly. Oh and there are long pretzel sticks in glass jars with a lid that pulls up the bottom, exactly the same as in a barbershop for combs in disinfectant LOL. Many good food choices at lunch too. Vegetarian rating: unexpectedly good for this old-school American place, 3.5 stars for the many choices including lentil soup, Mediterranean app plate w/felafel hummus and tapenade, many salads, a veggie burger, eggplant and felafel sammiches, and a grilled veggie panini.
