Great place to eat and location right off the highway. Service was excellent! The Baked BBQ chicken was the special, which included ½ a chicken, green beans w/ham, roll, and mashed potatoes with gravy all for $ 8.99. I thought the price was very reasonable! All of the staff are very friendly! I highly recommend this place!

Kelley’s is a mom n’ pop diner-like(or grease shack– take your pick!) restaurant. I’ve been there several times, and for a privately owned restaurant in a small town, it’s good! They have really yummy burgers, and family I’ve gone with have liked the catfish and chicken fried steak. The patrons are 99% very loyal locals, and everyone knows each other. Unfortunately, that can be bad for service when it comes to people that aren’t regulars. The servers wind up chatting way too much with the people they know. My biggest pet peeve when it comes to service is drinks being empty for more than a couple minutes. There’s no excuse for that, and it has happened every single time I’ve been to Kelley’s. During the typical meal times(noon &6−7pm) it gets very busy, so I expect to wait a little longer for food, but my drink should always have something in it! The owners, Bill & Diane Buchholz, are fantastic people, and you’ll likely be greeted by one of them when you walk in. Bill is a people person, and greets every single person as if they are long lost friends whether he knows them or not. If you’re looking for unique or amazing food, you won’t really find it here, but you will find a country, homey atmosphere and some good diner food. They have decent prices and specials, as well as claim to have the best steak in town(FYI, they’re the only restaurant in town to serve steak…)

Overpriced mediocre food. Servers are some of the worst. Owners are super nice though.

We kind of landed here by accident after leaving The Legends. The boiled shrimp was awesome, the steak was ok, pie was ok too. I know I’m not making it sound great, but it was so comfortable, clean & service made you feel HUMAN, that we plan to go back soon for my birthday. Loved the 99 cent margaritas too!

Hadn’t been here in a couple of years so thought the kids and I would go back and give it another try. Had their shrimp special on Friday night(all you can eat peel n eat) and the kids got chicken fingers and a cheese pizza. Waited FOREVER for what seemed like somewhat simple things and this was my second bad experience. Shrimp were ok but my son’s cheese pizza was hardly edible. The folks running it are nice enough and I love small diners, but sorry to say that’s my last try. There of course could be reasons why and maybe my expectations are too high… but when you see that a table of kids has waited well past diner time due to your own internal issues… you might try bringing out a free $ 5 appetizer or something once you notice all the empty cracker packages. That would have at least made me go once more as other specials and the people make me want to like it… but it just isn’t for me.

After a mind numbing exdpedition through the mega mart that resides at the Legends, the last thing I want to do is fight more people to dine at any of the overcrowded, over hyped, and over priced dining establishments around the speedway. So instead of drilling my head open and scooping some out to labotomize myself, I opted to make a 5 minute drive west on State St/US24 to Basehor. There just off the highway is Kelleys Bar and Grille. A little off the beaten path… just what I needed. I have heard a lot about this place, from friends that live in Basehor. Décor is standard small town diner, small and intimate, with a welcoming smile from all the emloyees. Chicken Fried Chicken Fillet, with steak fries and corn was my choice. Chicken was thick and juicy with a crunchy coating. The steak fries were large and crispy, with just the right amount of salt. Small chucks of ham adorned the corn, that resembled fresh corn cut from the ear. The steak was exceptionally tender and outshined the samples that we were served at one of the big name«in town» steakhouse recently. Potato was also fresh and fluffy. Both meals were less than $ 10. Most of the other patrons were regulars, most being greeted by name by the wait staff. Ranging from older couples to a family of 5, there was all kinds of people surrounding us, but the place was pleasingly quiet. An overall great choice for a quick bite, I think a return visit is in the cards. Menu ranges from steaks, sandwiches, mexican platters, and farm style dinners.

Good food, great service and very reasonable prices. Varied menu but nothing fancy. Casual.
