We were in aspen for the weekend and since its mud season there’s not much going on. We found an ad in the local paper, for heathers and decided to check it out for its live music. We were in for a treat. The front of the house and Rene could not have been sweeter to us. Service was impeccable and the pot pie and lamb shepherds pie were SO comforting and delicious. It was packed with locals and yet they made us feel right at home. Basalt has a gem!

First things, first. Heather’s is worthy of 5 stars, but I don’t think they want to attract so many star eaters that they turn off their local clientele because that’s what makes Heather’s feel like home than a pretentious«Aspen-ish» hotspot. That said, the pot pies are the ticket, so take the ride. Everything is fresh and specials changeas fast as the weather. The bar is always pouring interesting new drinks, the wine selection is on point and you can find several local brews available. That said, leave room for a slice of a dessert pie to top of the yum. Heather and Rene get 5+ stars for their attitude and attention to detail. You will be back.

So amazing. We were greeted in a friendly casual manor when we walked in the door. We sat at a high top in their cozy little bar. Our server was adorable and the food was outstanding. Basically licking every plate clean. Decided to go pretty basic for our first visit. The Chicken Pot Pie was the prize winner. Baked to perfection. We also had both soups, a house salad and some cheese cake. All just wonderful. We are new to the area and will most definitely return!

OMG. I’ve delayed going to this place for years for whatever reasons I had before. Once I tried their soup and salad combo… I was hooked. Their staff were so friendly. Sometimes they have live music. This is a locals spot.

Try any one of their desserts Oh man, the key lime pie and coconut cream pie is to die for! Decent happy hour and good vibes. I will just stop in for a quick glass of wine before heading home, they have a. good selection. Thanks Heathers

Wonderful day at this restaurant. We ordered the steak pot pie and Brie\turkey sandwich(AMAZING) and mushroom soup. And we’d order it all again. OH and they have amazing pies so we had to get a coconut cream pie which was unreal. I wanted to try every pie in there. Fast service, nice staff, great experience. Thanks!

This was a disappointing visit — the salad had some leaves which had gone off, the latkes felt reheated, there was bit of bacon from another dish on my plate, and they had run out of many dishes.

I had one of, if not the worst dining experiences of my life, here last night. Never have I experienced such disrespect and blatant rude behavior from wait staff. We began our dining experience with a lovely waitress, named Emily, who’s company and conversation we delighted in throughout our meal. Following dinner, while still enjoying drinks, we stepped outside for some fresh air where we witnessed an older server, who’s name is Al, completely and utterly berate our waitress because he felt she had neglected her bussing responsibilities. She tried to explain that she had been conversing with patrons and would have gotten to it immediately and thanked him for covering for her. He continued to throw, what I can only equate to a tantrum, and did so in front of all of the remaining guests. Appalled and embarrassed at his behavior, I tried to interject and explain that she had been conversing with us at our request. His immediate response was, «SHUTTHEFUCKUP!» Unwilling to converse with someone in that manner I removed myself and located the manager and explained the interaction. The manager spoke to Al and offered no other condolences. No aplogies, no comps, nothing. It was as if nothing happened. I would have fired that asshole on the spot. I’m not a local but travel to Basalt annually. My recommendation, there are plenty of other restaurants in town, all excellent, and all with far better staff who display infinite more professionalism.

My friends and I came here for a drink and dessert since we had eaten a late lunch. The service was terrible. The staff treat you like you are a bother to them. Skip this place.

After hearing thoughts on this place from my friends I decided to give it a shot. We went there for lunch(3 adults), it was hot summer afternoon and the restaurant was not busy at all. Our waiter didn’t even said Hi but just handed us the menu’s. Later he was taking notes on our orders but still get back twice to ask again on what we ordered and the order was very simple. I had to wait on the check for about 10 min and finally I went to the cashier to pay. Also I think it was pricey. Not coming back.

Seriously great service but the chicken pot pie was a disappointment. CP Pies should be in my view, creamy and delish — not acidic, missing the chicken or bitter. I couldn’t wait to get to my own kitchen to make my own CPP, one that was balanced with equally creamy pot liquor, veggies and chicken. The salad was incredible so next time I will know. Skip the desserts — as they are weak but what a setting and such faithful service.

We had one good meal there — pot pie and some tapas. Then on our second trip there we were a party of 8 adults and 7 out of 8 entrees(I got to try all) were pretty awful. We had one of each kind of pot pie except one and they were all disappointing. Their signature chicken pot pie had a weird sour taste. If you’re expecting a traditional pot pie with a creamy sauce then this place is not it. Desserts look awesome, but I’ve never tried them.

Ate here while staying in Snowmass — best meal of the trip. Older crowd, with live music(Thurs — sat?) hopping bar scene.(in Basalt?) Ordered the mushroom soup — fantastic, and the ropa potpie(tasty) My wife had the chicken pot pie(also very good) — both came with a side salad(get the basil vinaigrette — really, really good.)

We were a bit skeptical of a restaurant featuring pies, but despite getting a few different items, the pies were in fact amazing and the highlight! The chicken pot pie is definitely the best I’ve ever had, and the key lime pie was close as well. Other dishes were decent but not as memorable. We were there on a Thursday night and there was some live music(keyboard and singing) and a slightly older crowd. Not a fun, hip place, but the food was totally worth the visit.

5 stars all the way!!! This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. They clearly know the value of butter. This is too delicious to be diet food. Amazing pot pie of course but also the mushroom soup and pistachio cake were phenomenal. Good beer and wine selection and exceptional service. I love this place and will be back every chance I get.

Three visits; three fantastic meals. I have not had a chicken pot pie anywhere as close to as good as this one. Spinach salad is above most other salads even in Aspen. Brie app is fantastic. Save room for the deserts. Service is timely, but the quality of the staff is average even for a small town. No smiles, and they need to disguise the appearance of being rushed. You get the feel they are used to the same locals, and you get a sideways look when they don’t recognize you. They just need training, and the food far outweighs this limitation. Reservations absolutely suggested on almost any night.

Positive: Great classic eggs Benedict, creamy hot chocolate, deliciously moist pistachio cake Improvements needed: waiting service and general friendliness, heating in the main dining area, and there needed to be a greeter/hostess to welcome us I’d return here for the food but not for the service. I’d recommend a service overhaul.

What’s there to say, it’s near perfection! Whether you want healthy, super-fresh ingredients on a salad, fresh gazpacho(oh, please share the recipe for your tomato gazpacho!), delicious tapas with fresh scallops, savory pot pies(4 different fillings), unbelievable specials, or even a grilled pork chop or risotto. The menu is small but everything I’ve had has been extremely fresh. The only thing I wouldn’t do again is the pâté, it just wasn’t my style. But the rest of the menu’s ingredients taste like they just came from the farmer’s market that afternoon. So, kudos Heathers, on the amazing, fresh, delicious foods. My only 2 complaints: Service is notoriously VERYSLOW. If it were otherwise, I’d def give Healther’s 5-stars! Also, it can be rather expensive. The pot pies are $ 15 each. And the other day I took out 3 pot pies and one kale salad and my bill was NINETY-FIVE dollars! I think that’s because we subbed kale on the pot pies — which cost us $ 15 extra! Anyway — it can really add up $$$$. Now for the atmosphere: Everybody from Aspenites to local Basalt folk, old and young, local fishing guides to tourists. Enjoy taking the delicious pot pies home(Take and Bake) or eat on their lovely patio covered with flowers and colorful umbrellas. Saturday night listen to the incredible talent of Chris Banks — you will want to dance with everybody else! Is there any instrument he doesn’t play?(But clearly don’t show up unannounced in the summer on a weekend and expect to get seated right away!) Heather’s claims comfort-food, but it’s also premium quality and beautifully executed. In fact, many dishes even remind me very much of French cooking with a delicate balance of meat, spices, and vegetables without a lot of the fillers restaurants try to get away with. But due to the freshness of the ingredients, Heather doesn’t have to be too heavy-handed with salt and butter, which is appreciated. Portions are reasonable, you never walk out feeling stuffed on fillers like potatoes or rice. Well done!

Delicious comfort food kicked up a notch. Extremely friendly and attentive service– water glass was never empty. The chicken pot pie was great, as was the brie en croute, wild mushroom soup, and tiramisu. I’m salivating just thinking about the meal. Very inviting inside on a cold, rainy night with a warm, cozy ambiance. It really cheered up a gloomy evening. I was also busy staring out the window at their awesome patio that we will definitely be coming to when the weather is warmer!
