Cookie Jar Bakeshop

We dined in Saturday morning, April 23, a little after 10. After a delay (no one working the counter), we ordered spinach and mushroom quiche, everything bagels with cream cheese, and coffee, paid & sat down. After a couple of minutes, the counter staff returned holding a plastic bag of bagels and asked for our choice between blueberry or plain. So, I get that sometimes things run out, but I am a bit disappointed to dine at a «bakery» that doesn’t make bagels. The coffee is self-​serve; unlucky us, that was out as well, time to make a new pot. Quiche arrived, microwave heated, leaving the crust soggy and me wondering if the quiche is made in house. Disappointed at breakfast.
I’ve had their sandwiches for lunch and it’s quite good then, I’m surprised it’s not as good for breakfast.

This is more about their customer service. I contacted this bakery for a custom cake I wanted to order for my son. I sent them an email with two attached photos for a cake design that didn’t seem to be any more difficult then their cakes in their photo gallery. I was disappointed to receive an email that stated they could not do it because it was «too intricate.» Did they tell me which parts were too intricate? No. Did they try to offer some sort of compromise? No. They didn’t even tell me, «This is what we can do for you.» Nope, just a sorry and not much else.
I was confuse, and wanted to know what made it so hard and want to find a way to make work around the difficulties and sent another email, but the response came 3 days later. It only offered that I could come in that Sunday to discuss the cake (another two days later). As I wanted to secure a bakery before my Son’s birthday with plenty of time for the baker I just decided to go with another bakery.

I ordered a cake for my father’s birthday and it was BEAUTIFUL! I didn’t think it would be that special, but it was. Everyone at his party just loved it. If I had had time, I would have tried some of their other pastries. Next time I’m in Bartow, I will definitely go there for lunch.

The Cookie Jar is always a great place to stop in for a quick lunch or mid-​day snack. The folks here are super friendly and nice. The chicken salad is always good and the cookies fresh and yummy.

A great place to treat yourself with less than $ 5.00 in your pocket! This little bakery on Main Street does not have lengthy hours for the working person (no weekends, evenings) but is absolutely worth juggling your schedule to satisfy a sweet tooth.
I grabbed a window seat on their comfy retro dinette set, with a large slice of cake – first layer creamy cheese cake, separation layer of chocolate mousse, top layer a moist & luscious chocolate cake, covered in white frosting. Only $ 2.25 and well-​balanced, not too sweet. I topped it off with hot apple cider. They boxed an amaretto cupcake ($ 1.55), four tea cookies (.50 each) and two buckeyes (.38) for home for me. I appreciated that the items were not overpriced.
They had many scrumptious-​looking muffins (like cranberry nut), some sugar-​free options, and lots of iced cookies. They were busy with custom cookie baskets for the holidays and a couple was ordering a special birthday cake after tasting butter cream and chocolate cupcakes.
I would not describe them as «friendly», though they were efficient and busy. They carry a full menu of breakfast and lunch items. I had my eye on an orange blossom salad for next time! I’ll have no hesitation to move this to five stars after testing all the cookies or having a successful 2^nd visit!

Delicious pastry and coffee! I went in on the way to a coffee shop to discover that the cookie jar also sold coffee. It smelled so good in there that I never made it to the other shop! I got a small croissant and a caramel macchiato — they were both superb. Best local bakery croissant I have had in central Florida, by far. Give them a try, the staff is friend and the coffee is strong!

The freshest donuts in town! Yum. I’ve eaten their sweets any times, as a former co-​worker lived in Bartow and would pick up goodies on the way to work. I’ve also been to the shop and picked things out in person. One of my favorites.
