Our first visit to the Side Porch was tonight. I have to say that I wish it wasn’t. We should have been going long ago. We absolutely loved it. Hands down, the best steak that we have ever eaten. The ribeye was thick and cooked to perfection. The loaded potato was delicious. We got so much food that we will each have another meal tomorrow. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff was welcoming. We will definitely be going back and often.

This was my first time eating here and it surely did not disappoint. I have eaten at a lot steak houses and I would say that this place ranks among the top. The steak was cooked and seasoned very well. As for the reason it didn’t get 5 stars was bc of its lack of insulation. We technically sat on the porch(enclosed of course) but it was freezing. The heater they had would kick on and off bc it reached the temp where the thermostat was at. It was a constant struggle between feeling cold and then warm. I could only imagine what this place feels like during the hot summer days. I would go back but prob during the fall season and I would def go back just for its steak. ;). I also liked that this place wasn’t a chain rest and had its unique history. Bear in mind that it was an actual house before its conversion into the restaurant. Overall good food and charming restaurant. However bad on feeling cold throughout dinner.

Wanted a little local place for dinner while here on business. Nice clean place… friendly wait staff and the RibEye was awesome. Lots of bread. Very much enjoyed and will be back on my next visit to Memphis.

If you aren’t looking for Side Porch, you might not notice it. It looks like someone’s home located in Old Bartlett. What will catch your attention is the amount of cars parked around the establishment, evidence of what’s inside. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, as if you are stepping into someone’s home. The large warm bread croutons served to your table are magnificent. The sweet tea is perfect, served ice cold in a large mason jar. Take your pick — steak, chicken, seafood — EVERYTHING is fabulous! You will enjoy every bite. Side Porch may be easy to overlook at first glance, but once you enjoy their menu, you won’t forget where they are!

A touch of down-home combined with a touch of elegance mixed in with some fantastic steaks! The service here was fast and friendly. I’ll definitely be asking for Cat to serve me again. I was so impressed when my steak arrived, I forgot to take pics of the meal. I ordered a 14-oz New York strip which required NO steak sauce. When you don’t have to augment the flavor of the meat, it’s cooked right and marinated well. I ordered it medium rare but enjoy a rare steak just as well. This one was a bit rarer than I usually get at other places but the flavor was all there. I had a salad before the meal and it was the typical salad but definitely fresh veggies. The croutons are soft pieces of bread dipped in garlic sauce — a bit salty tasting but a great, unique addition to the meal. I chose broccoli as my side and the serving size was twice that which I’ve gotten at other places. The prices are appropriate to the meal. Lastly, I visited around 9:00 on a Saturday when they had been packed. You would never have known based on how clean the restaurant was — no crumbs on the floor, no unbussed tables, etc. the staff were all over tables as guests left. Tea in a quart jar but you won’t find peanuts to eat and throw shells on the floor. That fits perfectly with the ambience at Side Porch. Some tables are well lit while others are quiet and not so lit so you should be able to find one to suit the mood you’re after if you’re patient. This is probably the finest restaurant I’ve I’ve eaten at in Bartlett. You MUST eat here to get the flavor of the town. You won’t regret it.

Tuesday night and I was glad we arrived at 6:10 because the joint was full and noisy by 6:45. I like the«old» appearance; I wish that the wait staff was dressed in a way that complemented the ambience. Steaks were great, salad was so-so. Fresh ingredients from local farmers, and more tomato, could have enriched it greatly. Love the rolls. A fine experience overall.

This little steak house is a place many have passed by on Stage Road and have had the infectious aroma of the grill fill their nose only to ask, «where is that coming from?» Well let me fill you in… The smell is some of the best steaks, chicken and huge pork chops you can get in Bartlett. The staff is amazing and friendly with a refill of your sweet tea and a smart recommendation from a simple and well put together menu. Stop in with an empty stomach and allow these wonderful people to feed you. Don’t fill up on the croutons, even though it’s so hard not too! After you enjoy your dinner walk to the front door, pay, and tell them what a great job they did. You’ll love it.

Well the place is old yet clean. It is nothing fancy, sort of like someone turned their house in to a restaurant. Saturday early evening and its a 20 minute wait for a table, more as I get seated… Staff is friendly but busy, no time for chitchat. The place is has no real theme or direction. A good example is the drink glasses being quart jars period. I had a salad, ribeye steak with baked potato. The salad was head lettuce washed torn and crisp with a very good made on site blue cheese dressing, the steak was cooked to order and very lightly seasoned. My thought is while cooked and unseasoned steak is resting it is brushed with there wet season. If you want a top notch steak look elsewhere. If your looking for serious competition for the cheap steak chains this is it! And it is fairly inexpensive also. Oh yeah, those croutons… Really are that good!

We love this place. The staff is so friendly and efficient. The croutons are amazing and addictive. You don’t need an appetizer with these and a salad. Steaks are so good and cooked to perfection. Loaded potato is just the right size, not one of those huge boat size ones. Enjoy eating here very much, we drive from Hernando MS, we used to go to Como Steakhouse but this beats them.

Had an amazing dinner on a very special occasion! I ordered the salmon, which was cooked to perfection and seasoned with a spice that made it A+, with the steamed vegetable medley. My husband had steak cooked medium and was so moist and tender. My son had the pork chops that were tender enough to cut with a fork, and our«future daughter-in-law» had the filet that was the best she has ever had. As usual, the croutons were sooo delicious! I ate too many again! If you want the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, this is the place to go! Everyone there, from the bar tender to the wait staff were so kind and«Congratulations» was said by each of them.

This is a really great, locally owned steakhouse. We enjoy coming here because the staff is always very warm and friendly. You instantly feel like family when you walk in. The owner always walks around and talks to people at some point during their meal. My favorite part about this place is the very beginning of the meal. The croûton basket you get. They take their homemade rolls, cut them up and then toast them. So they are crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. I don’t think I’ve ever actually eaten the rolls that come with dinner. The salads are good but there’s nothing spectacular about them. It’s simply a house salad. They’re served in a bowl that you’d find at your grandmothers house. I am a chicken girl, so I usually get their grilled chicken and it is always delicious. I’m not sure what marinade they use for their meats but it is on point. When I do get a filet or something, I don’t end up using steak sauce of any kind because it already has so much flavor. As far as sides, they’ve got fries, baked potato(plain or loaded), sweet potato, fried okra, etc. Each side we’ve always had has been good. I am always so full that I don’t ever eat dessert. I have gotten their key lime pie before and taken it home for the next day though.

I really wanted to love this place, but it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. First, the good. They served their drinks in the biggest Mason jars I’ve ever seen-I didn’t even finish one. The«croutons» were really good, and is never had a starter like that before.(Why in the world they serve them with MORE butter was beyond me!) their salad dressings were fresh and homemade, although the salads themselves were nothing special. I can’t imagine who would have needed it, but they brought fresh baked rolls with the meals. Now the not so good. The steaks didn’t have a lot of flavor, even my filet, and(as several reviewers had said) they were WAY undercooked. We heard two other tables send their steaks back for the same reason-they have to know this is a problem. Our leftovers kept our dogs happy for a couple days, though! Our sides were completely unmemorable. Our server seemed to have somewhere she would have rather been. All in all, not a great experience, but we haven’t ruled out giving it another shot in the future.

I won’t be back. One other Unilocaler mentioned that the steaks always come out undercooked and that is true for my first time. It was a big, thick, seasonless piece of meat! I ordered the NY strip. It was cooked to medium unlike the medium well I asked for. … I sent it back of course(hate doing that). They need to learn how to cook a steak better than that to be called a steak house.

This was my first time here. I’ve heard about it before but never tried it. Let’s start withe food… bread is pretty awesome. Drenched in butter with some parmesean. I dare you to eat on basket! The side salad that came with my meal was just a salad. Nothing special but a good salad. I ordered the 8 oz. Filet with shrimp. Came out like I wanted which was medium. Was a little surprised that the filet was wrapped in bacon. This reminded me of kroger not a restaurant. With that being said, the steak was actually really good. Very tender and juicy. Now on to the setting… This is an old house that still looks like an old house. Décor is kind of creepy actually. Needs a complete remodel for sure. Could do amazing business if this was in a more restaurant setting. Regardless, the food and price is pretty exceptional and makes you question why you would ever go to a chain steakhouse ever again!

I have been to Side Porch many times other than what I’ve checked in on Unilocal. My grandmother swore by this place and it’s still her favorite place to go! When you’re seated they present you with their«croutons» which are just chunks of bread drenched in a garlic butter. It’s delicious! Their menu is plain but that’s what keeps them good! They focus on what they’re good at, great steaks. A 14oz ribeye with salad and a side will fetch you $ 19.99. One of my favorite touches is the mason jar your drink comes in. It’s a nice change. They make a great steak at a fair price and if you’ve never been before, I encourage you to try them! They’re only open for dinner Tuesday — Saturday. No lunch. Go with the filet and shrimp combo. It’s great! Then review them and let me know what you though! :)

How many times have I passed this place in my life? Many. Thought I had eaten here years ago, went there Friday night, nope, 1st time ever. On my way out, I was kicking my butt for not eating here a long time ago. 4 of us for dinner — pretty crowded at 5:45. Older crowd, heard they get a lot of repeat business. Appetizers: Fried mushrooms and sweet/hot shrimp. They were just OK. The ‘croutons’, these aren’t croutons, rolls cut in ½, toasted with parmesan etc, really good, had to stop eating them to eat dinner. Salad, good, dressing, great. Homeade blue chees with blue cheese crumbles on top, nice. Steaks, 2 of us had 14oz ribeyes, 2 had filets. My ribeye was the best ribeye I’ve eaten out in many a day. Very very good flavor, cooked perfect. Others said their filets and ribeye were very good also. Great service despite being crowded. Lesson learned, should have gone here a long long time ago. I’ll be back.
