Came here for first time with co workers for our ritual lunch outings on Fridays. This place sits back off stage road in a little complex. They were not crowded when we got there and only a couple of people came while we were there. There were 6 of us and from the time we sat down I noticed that the ceiling fans were caked with dust. I’m glad they were not turning as the dust would have been falling down towards us. Once we were seated it took awhile for us to get our drinks even though they had already brought chips and salsa. Taking our order was an issue especially when we all basically had fajitas. One coworkers just wanted the combo of two meats(like chicken & shrimp or chicken & beef) however our waitress said that she wasn’t sure they could make it like that. Eventually they did but we were confused since fajitas usually come in chicken, beef, shrimp or combo. We observed the staff sitting in booths, eating or walking around as we waited wanting refills on our drinks and waited longer than expected for our food. The food was ok not as good as the other Mexican restaurants I’ve dined and when we finally got our bills and they were returned with change several were mixed up. Tips were left but as of me finishing this review on 11÷13÷14, my co-worker stated that when she got her American Express bill there was a charge of $ 18.80 and her original bill was for $ 8.80 they added a $ 10.00 tip. The charge was also listed under a different name billed on her statement. She also stated that she called American Express regarding what had happened and that AE was nice to credit her account for the 10.00 overage tip. Scary, especially with all of the credit card hacking going on. So if you decide to go here for lunch beware and check your bill. I usually don’t carry cash but I’m so glad that day I paid with cash.

10/10/2014 $$ My family and I have a new(to us) favorite Mexican restaurant. Los Reyes was our favorite and their cheese dip is still great but that isn’t enough to keep them our favorite. We enjoy La Hacienda because the food is good, quick, and the atmosphere is just right for us. However, the place could be considered a little dingy and the service can be slow but staff is always nice. It has that«hole in the wall» type feel. We usually get there and eat at odd times and have rarely been there when they are busy. We love the homemade thin tortilla chips. They are excellent just on their own with a touch of salt. The salsa is good by itself or with the cheese dip. We always order a large cheese dip for the three of us, which is plenty to snack on before dinner arrives and we then have some to sprinkle over our dinner entrees. I absolutely love the shrimp chimichanga and I order mine with the white cheese dip instead of the cream cheese sauce. I just prefer the dip over the cream cheese sauce. My wife and daughter enjoy the steak fajita quesadilla. It’s a good helping of the ingredients and well balanced. The location can be difficult to find. The restaurant doesn’t have road frontage. It’s tucked in by Baskin Robbins’ at Stage Road and Bartlett Road/Sycamore View Road area. Cost is close to the $ 10 mark for most entrees but the shrimp chimichanga is a little more than that which is expected because of the shrimp cost. One final point, they have a patio.

This restaurant routinely makes above-average food, but the service is generally on the slow side. I believe the main reason for this is that the restaurant is not in an ideal location(behind the stores facing Stage Road), so many people don’t know it exists. Consequently, the customer count can be fairly sparse at times, so they probably can’t afford to hire additional servers. On the plus side, you NEVER have to wait on a table. They also have live music on Sunday nights. I am a fan of their fajitas and their shrimp fajita salad, and(just like all La Hacienda locations) their chips are fantastic. I just go to this restaurant when I’m not in a hurry, and I’m all set.

I have had horrible service at this place a couple of times. Then one time me and some friends ordered 2 pitchers of margaritas. The menu price was $ 17 each. They tried charging us $ 24 each and acted like they did nothing wrong and demanded to know where we saw the price. Ummm, the menu? They never apologized for their mistake. I guess they were too ticked we discovered they were trying to rip us off. Me and my mom tried it one more time. We went at about 6:00 on a Friday. Not exaggerating, there was ONE person taking orders for the entire place. On a FRIDAY night. There was some young looking girl who was running the food and some random white guy who was walking around looking lost(I heard him telling someone he was ‘working for free’…that explained it) I asked for a beer and a water. Got the beer right away… had to ask my «server» three times and the random white guy once for my water before I finally got it. Then one of the employee’s kids WALKEDINTOTHEKITCHENBAREFOOT! Nasty. Nasty. Nasty. After we finished our food and drinks we sat there for over TWENTYMINUTES without anybody asking if we needed anything. We couldn’t even ask for the check! I never will go back to this location. I love the La Hacienda on Germantown Parkway and the one on Poplar/Highland. I don’t understand how this one has stayed open. The food is good but not worth the stress of dealing with crappy service and being overcharged.
