Well I gave this place five stars but it isn’t a five star establishment. It is a wonderfully comfortable dicey little bar, much in the middle of nowhere, that caters to bikers, dirt and Street bikers alike. We have been coming here for over 25 years and have really watched this place evolve from what was what’s a one room shack to a decent size restaurant complete with pool tables and outdoor seating. One thing that is famous for is that several scenes from the movie Erin Brockovich we’re shot here. Our most recent visit to the Slash was this past weekend, when our MC club was camping nearby for a race. We all stopped in for burgers and beers before hitting the road home. They did an awesome job of accommodating us and it was a fairly large group of about 15 to 20 people.

Went in sat down at the bar there were at least 6 people that kept walking back and forth in the behind the bar. They didn’t bother to acknowledge us. I asked for a menu, 10 minutes later we walked out. No one offered us a beer, to take our order, or even said hello. They were not to busy. It felt like maybe because we were the only Hispanics? Never going back.

Several off road vehicle charity poker runs are held here each year. You can camp free with your RV in the surrounding areas. Though the Slash X cash flow greatly benefits from the charities, they won’t support the charities so hold that thought. It is an issue with many who stay away from the Slash X as a result. Not a full bar, just beer and wine, but a cool atmosphere, always a great crowd. Service is usually slow and dizzy and stupid, with no initiative, but sometimes you may get Shannon serving you and she is outstanding. Some local school teachers work here part time BTW. It is dirty here, everything is covered with dirt, everything. That’s just the way it is and always has been. Food is average depending on the employees attitude. OK burgers and ok hot dogs if they remember to serve your order to you when it’s ready. They usually don’t. Ask to get your under cooked fresh cut french frys cooked a little longer. Service was better when the old man ran it, and even than wasn’t so good. Expect a LONG wait. Enter the parking lot slow or you may be asked(told is more like it) to leave, and this is for safety sake. Lot’s of kids about. Smoking patio, very friendly atmosphere, usually a decent band or singer. Usually open year round on Fridays, Sat, and morning on Sunday. Sometimes open Mondays depending on holiday schedules and events and perhaps even Thursdays. Bathrooms could use a vent fan so beware, it’s brutal, choking.

Great grilled chicken sandwich. Wife and I both had it with different additions but both were phenomenal. Cold beer but not a great Bloody Mary. Great live music and the best part is they are kid and dog friendly. All the riders were super friendly. Will definitely come back soon. It’s also worth noting the atmosphere. Huge outside with all sorts of old cars and dirt bikes to look at. Old school decoration inside with several rooms for large groups.

The food was alright. Chicken strips were definitely my favorite. Would have preferred to leave out the side of attitude, though. The man who took our order today was very rude. When asked if I could have the zucchini fries, he replied with, «You’re in the middle of the Mojave desert. We don’t have that. We have fried zucchini.» AND when asked if I could have a bacon cheeseburger, he replied, «Uh, you can order a cheeseburger and add bacon to it. *insert eye roll here*» I’d love to come back to eat again some day, provided this gentleman leaves his attitude at home next time.

Wait times can be long, if you have a hundred hungry off roaders, it’s expected. Been here dozens of times, as a teen in the 70s to with my wife n kid off roading from johnson valley, bell mtn, hodge road, anywhere within a tank af gas.. Stopped a few months ago with a buddy on way back from a 150 mile dual sport ride, 30 min wait but burgers are killer. All roads out in this area of the desert really do lead to slash x. If you’re in a car coming off the highway, maybe they aren’t the best burgers in the world. If you’re coming off the desert off roading all day, it is an oasis.

I haven’t been back to Slash X in years, but I felt the need to write this review because it would make my pops super happy. My dad has been going to slash X since 1972. He’d be out in the desert racing his dirt bikes with his East West moto club, and they’d always stop here for cold beer, burgers, and the great atmosphere. Fast forward 20 years later, and my dad took me here as a teenager. I remember them having the best burgers, I obviously couldn’t enjoy the ice cold beer, due to being not of age. And the people working there were so nice. I think it’s time to go back to the slash x café, enjoy a beer and a burger, and send photos of it to my dad. .

Slash X is located off the 247 just south of the 15⁄40 crush. It’s a great place to ride too of your riding dirt in the area. It’s easy to put it in the middle of a 70 mile loop if your riding Stoddard. Food is standard fare, burgers — chili fries and the like. Food here is greasy, hot and good. The beer is cold, with a great selection too ! They have a cool outdoor patio, I’ve heard live music here. There’s a huge shuffleboard table and plenty of room to relax. It’s gets pretty crowded on weekends during riding season. Sometime the service is iffy when they’re swamped. If you eat outside there’s gonna be flies so don’t trip. The bathroom is extremely small, so dont forget the courtesy flush ! One time I actually had their buffet bbq after one of the Barstow Poker Runs, it was killer and they haven’t had one since :(!!!

Ok, so this place is in the middle of the desert, so cold beer is a welcome treat from the heat and dust. That being said, didn’t order anything food wise, but this place you have to see for yourself! Really hard to describe but bizarre! Nice bartender, let us in even though they were closed, showed me a vid of some ultralight pilots that came in for lunch earlier that day! Crazy! If you are wheeling at Stoddard Wells, you have to check it out!

Amazing breakfast burriots stopped on our way to king of the hammer. I was not expecting anything very good and I was presently surprised with how great the food tasted and the excellent service! I will be back.

Awesome bar /restaurant in the middle of the desert so you can get drunk off your ass then try to ride back to camp! We had an awesome time here Thanksgiving. The chili cheese fries are the bomb! During busy times there will be a band out back. Love this place!

Country /Dive /Riding bar in the middle of know where. Not sure how it became so popular, but been there several times now(it’s actually a «must stop in» spot for our trips to the desert. Unlucky enough to get there right before lunch and you will wait in a long line to order drinks and food. Lucky enough to beat that crowd and you can enjoy your lunch watching those waiting in line. No, not watching that crowd. Too many other things on the walls to look at. Cool vintage stuff, etc… Food is great, staff is great, and I just tried the rootbeer float! Yes, very tasty, especially on a hot day!

I came riding with some friends a couple weeks ago and we found this place in the middle of the desert. Super laid back with a great staff serving great comfort food. What a great find and surprised of the quality of food here. Highly recommend if you find yourself lost in the middle of the desert.
