The Christmas Dove

A simple and straight forward store housed in a massive old homestead, this place is a maze of rooms featuring ornaments, lights. trees, displays, nutcrackers, LED’s and all sorts of other Christmas items and knick knacks. Look upstairs for some toys for the kids. The prices are high on some items, but the quality and selection is enormous.

It gives me great sadness to report that after shopping here and being loyal to this business for more than 22 years, I have come to conclusion my business is no longer wanted or appreciated as a result of the extremely poor customer service I experienced. This was not an easy decision to make, but after weeks of trying to get an order mailed (gift to a friend), the excessive lies told to me during this process and the deception, it was time to say good-​bye. While the store is still beautiful and has great, quality products, I DO NOT recommend to purchase and have items mailed. I am choosing not to go there at all anymore, but it doesn’t mean others should not. I just strongly emphasize NOT to trust the company to have any packages or gifts mailed. The manager is the only person at fault and at the end of the day, the owner made everything right by refunding me my money that was charged several weeks before. Maybe, some day, I’ll be able to go back. In order for me to come to this conclusion not to go there any more, it had to be that bad of a situation. You have no idea how much this upsets me, because as a loyal customer of so many years who was in one of their commercials emphasizing their wonderful business several years ago, you would think a simple task would have been completed within the stated time frame of «next business day after purchase», but after many phone calls over several weeks which started 2 weeks after my friend did not receive the gift, unacceptable. I think it was the lying that was the worst and bothered me the most. «I need to check with my shipping department». He IS THE SHIPPING department! «The package was sent out on Monday». The package never left his desk.

When I think back to being a kid at Christmas I still remember the beauty, awe and wonder that was felt at our yearly trip to the Christmas Dove. The store offers everything for every price range. Though my budget is small foregoing a Target or Walmart for a special gift, small ornaments, one special ornament or something personalized for a trip to the Christmas Dove is worth it. The store is so beautiful and every room is captivating. This store truly captures the spirit of Christmas.
