I wish the Path to Health initiative was still alive and well in Rhode Island, but it seems to have died a quiet death. You can still find some marked paths around the state and the Rumstick Point Loop in Barrington is one of them. It’s a fairly level 4 mile loop through residential areas and along the Barrington Beach. There is a nice long stretch on Matthewson Road which is right along the Bay and give you excellent views. The best bet for parking is in the Park and Ride Lot at the beginning of Matthewson Road, right near the Bridge on Rt 114. The Shaws plaza is also an option. The full map of the route can be found in the link above. Four stars instead of five because although some of the streets are very quiet, sidewalks would have been appreciated. I’ll be back to walk this loop again!
