Very friendly service. Some of the best sandwiches in Barrington. Freshly made with lots of meat and veggies and also served with fresh fruit. Their salads are great too! Great little spot!

The sandwiches and salads are very good. The cupcakes we tried were a bit dry but the tall frosting helped — and they are very reasonably priced. Twist potatoes were very good and different. The combos are a great deal and very filling.

This place is very adorable, a relaxing place to sit and eat, even study or do some work. Their Bubble tea is the best I’ve ever had and the twirled potatoes are not only cool, but very tasty. Every time I come in the workers are very nice and even bring the food to me if I’m sitting down waiting for it. I haven’t had one bad experience there and plan to come more often.

I love the variety here! They serve coffees, teas(Two Leaves and A Bud is the house brand), boba, smoothies, and more. You can get scones, macarons, and more with a much larger selection of snacks than you might expect from a coffee house. I had a sip of my sister’s mocha frappé, and I thought it was the best frappé I’ve ever tasted. My smoothie was made fresh with real bananas, not banana-flavored syrup. With such great products and a friendly staff, I can’t see myself visiting a competitor over Doux Crème the next time I’m in Barrington.

I just so happened to be in downtown Barrington, picking up some Kickstarter theater tickets from the Catlow, when a killer hot chocolate craving hit me like a ton of bricks. Luckily for me, I had noticed Doux Crème between the theater and the grocery store lot where I parked my car. The storefront was nothing short of adorable, and I couldn’t help but venture in. The décor is very cute, and the bakery is quite clean. I was greeted by a cheerful barista who patiently waited for me to make up my mind. The menu consists of much more than just coffee & treats. They also offer sandwiches & salads, which I was not expecting. I opted for a small hot chocolate &2 cupcakes for the road(one for me & one for my hungrier half). I was offered a sample madeleine cookie to munch on while I waited and happily obliged. The cookie was verging on stale, so I waited for my hot chocolate to wash it down with. The hot chocolate wasn’t very hot & it wasn’t very chocolatey, which was sort of disappointing, but I took my cupcakes and drink and was merrily on my way. Later that night, we dove into the cupcakes(red velvet and green tea), and both of us found them to be quite dry… maybe because they had been sitting around too long(?). Cupcake letdown is the worst, and I’ve had my fair share of them. I give Doux Crème a solid 3 stars for cute décor and friendly customer service, but they are not on my short list of places to go to again anytime in the near future.

«Come on baby… let’s do the twist!» The twist potato, that is! A single potato spiral-cut into a sort of french-fry totem pole(on a stick!) — it is hands down the most unexpected bakery item I’ve yet to come across — but oh, so delicious! While waiting on our twisty snacks, we got cozy in the small(but immaculate! — seriously, so clean we felt obligated to de-crumb our table before leaving) dining area with a red velvet cuppie and a mango-pineapple smoothie in the meantime. Sans bubbles, as I just read an article claiming those chewy tapioca pearls to contain carcinogens — and I thought it best not to trigger my hypochondria. Loved the smoothie — very creamy and so fresh tasting! And though the cupcake was a bit dry in consistency, I enjoyed the flavor and the not-too-rich cream cheese frosting(extra points for pretty pink sugar-sprinkles). And bonus, if your cupcake has a twin on the day-old tray — you can snag the pair for the price of one! One cupcake and half a smoothie later, our twist potatoes arrived — and they proved to be well worth the wait! After the super-friendly owner informed us that there were two options(chili and cheese), we ordered one of each with the intent to share. The plan was to eat halfway down the stick and switch, but I Loved the chili flavor so much I almost kept going(my hubby kindly looked the other way when I ate an extra rung off the chili twist before passing it to him). To be fair — the cheese was tasty too, a bit sweet and more of a baked-on flavor(as opposed to the chili which was sprinkled-on) — but I could not get enough of the chili-flavored twist. If it hadn’t taken so long for the first set of twists, I would have ordered seconds! Bottom Line: Definitely do the twist, but if you think you might even consider a second helping — place your double-order upfront to save time.

This little café was a dream! We decided to walk around Barrington after our disappointing experience at McGonigal’s and I sure am glad we did! We walked by this little gem and were pleasantly surprised when we went inside. Two very nice women were working and it was close to closing time, so we looked over their selection and decided to grab a couple cupcakes for dessert. The ladies told me they’ve only been open for 2 months and were hoping things would pick up. I really hope they do to, because it’s such a cute shop and their cupcakes were pretty tasty. They said the bake everything fresh daily, and that probably is the case, however, the two cupcakes we had were a little dry and slightly hard. Like I said, we went in close to closing time, so I’m sure this is the reason for this. I will definitely try this place out in the morning because I’m sure their cupcakes are amazing when they are fresh out of the oven! 5 stars for sure!

It only took 12 hours between the time I found out that a Korean bakery had opened in d-town Barrington before I got my K-pop lovin’ azz in there for ‘twist potato’ and green tea cupcakes. Okay, to be fair, I was told it was a Japanese bakery and did seek it out on those grounds, but I would’ve gone even if they’d told me a leprosy colony was making lip balm… and not only because I love balms, but because I love local flavor and let’s be honest, Barrington could use a little more flavor. On my visit today I got to meet the mother/daughter duo that own and run the shop and was lucky enough to also get to meet their triple berry boba smoothie, iced caramel macchiato, green tea cupcake and cray cray awesome twist potato. Next time I hope to meet their sandwiches, salads, ice cream and shaved ice. Admittedly, the boba in the smoothie was really chewy and a bit dense in the middle but the smoothie was great. Pretty sure it had a dairy/yogurt-y base and lots of seeds and super fresh + delightful. The caramel macchiato was pretty much as expected and fantastic… and did you know they import their coffee straight from Italy? Awww, yeah. The green tea cupcake was more of a poppyseed muffin in a cupcake shape with green tea frosting, but it was damn good and really unexpected… and I don’t know that I’d want it any other way now that I’ve had it the poppyseed muffin way. And as for the potato twist… Yes. Just, yes. It wasn’t like a skewer with potato chips, the potato roasted inside but it was still soft inside and fried on the outside and you get to choose if you want chili or cheese flavor. I went with chili bc the owner said that was her favorite, but I got the sense that they were both probably pretty damn good. Of course, as with any new business, there are a few things that could use a bit of improvement, but overall I’d say that Doux Crème is a clear win and much, MUCH needed.

It was the first nice day of the year it was 50 °F by 8am(well it dropped 10 degrees hours later) but I digress. My coworker and I decided to go for a stroll in Barrington. Perfect opportunity to check out this new bakery. Upon walking in, I noticed its cheerful décor, a must for a bakery. They had a good selection, though small, of tarts, crossaints, cupcakes, teas, and sandwiches. Everything was very fairly priced. I chose the Ham and cheese croissant as well as an early grey madeleine. I believe they were freshly baked since they were still on a cooling rack. Coworker tried the milk tea and enjoyed it. I will be coming back to try their other treats soon. and yay for first review!
