Delicious seafood quesadilla! Might be the only place in town that isn’t cash only Would have given it 5 stars, but they brought us a broken high chair and took a long time finding one that wasn’t broken.

A solid ‘B’. What’s a ‘B’? That’s a fair question. The food was good, not great. I’d stop by again for convenience sake, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here. It may well be a great option when LBI gets packed with beach goers. We stopped by often as it was next door to our B&B. The service was great, and we enjoyed sitting outside — until the delivery of french-fries to our table immediately attracted a swarm of seagulls.

Kubel’s has been one of my favorites on LBI for my whole life. I waited tables there in the mid-80’s. They didn’t have a real menu then– we wrote the day’s menu on a chalkboard. Best clam chowder I’ve ever had. Visited a few weekends ago and still fantastic. It had been my 1st visit since 2008. Living in Oklahoma, I miss good seafood. I ate way too much and enjoyed every bit of it!

I went there today with a friend for lunch. The waitress was unbelievably friendly. I had a garden salad with grilled chicken. The salad was enormous! The chicken was grilled perfectly. My friend had a cheese steak and french fries. She said it was delicious. Not a single negative thing to be said. .

I’m probably biased because I consider this place an LBI icon. Food — consistently good, not fancy. Yesterday’s BLT with avocado was packed with bacon. Drinks are good and priced right. Bartenders are friendly to locals and non-locals alike. If I had a complaint, it might be that it’s dark at the bar — and yet I find that’s part of its charm. It’s a dive, it’s been there forever and I love it.

Huge fan of Kubel’s! My absolute favorite is their chili — especially in the fall and winter. It is hearty, and spicy — I love that the onions crunch, giving it that extra bit of bite and zest. I love to head down to Barnegat, off season, for a walk on to the light, and a bowl of hot chili from Kubel’s. If you like chili, try it. Your love of chili will be reignited, if not completely redefined.

We went on a week day for lunch during off season. The server didn’t bring us menus initially, which when your out to lunch with young kids is a no no. Service overall was poor. Took forever for our food to come out. Server didn’t come back to refill drinks. Food was very good though.

Been going to LBI for 20 years and finally decided to give Kubel’s a try as so many friends tell me it’s amazing. Rode our bikes there from Harvey Cedars and checked in with the waitress at 6:15pm and was told 30 minute wait. An hour later with the sun setting, we were seated. Since we had studied the menu we sat down and ordered at the same time. The waitress did her best, but from what we could tell she and one other waitress were handling the entire dinner rush. Not too many healthy choices on the menu and the place is really more of a local pub/bar type atmosphere which is not what I was expecting. The food was adequate and fairly priced but with so many truly amazing restaurants on LBI there’s really no reason to go back. Maybe Barnegat Light die hards don’t like to leave the area but trust me, jump in the car and hit Harvey Cedars Shellfish Company, Black Eyed Susans, Yellow Fin, The Arlington, Dom’s, The Gables & Barry’s Do Me a Flavor to name a few. I won’t be back.

Always a favorite when we are on LBI. We went there tonight for my cousin’s birthday. Awesome meal, as always. There were 7 of us and we were seated in about 5 minutes. The seafood quesadilla is out of this world! I had the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and steak. It is a little expensive with the 2 add-ons, but well worth it especially if you are really hungry. Also, the grilled tuna is amazing. They cook it to order and it always comes out perfect. A great place to go for a meal and some cocktails!

Had late evening meal here consisting of appetizers and salad with 2 friends. We were seated on what appeared to be a porch which was converted to part of the main restaurant/bar. It was very cold and people at two tables asked if the AC could be changed… the waitress said it could not be modified. I had a cup of clam chowder and having lived in Boston for 40 years, was disappointed that the clams were minced into very small pieces and was seasoned with sage which detracted from what little clam flavor existed. the coconut shrimp was average and seemed like it was prepared elsewhere and just fried on site. My companion enjoyed the onion soup and the order of raw clams on the half-shell. The bar had a good variety of beer on tap. I would come for a beer but wouldn’t do appetizers again. Perhaps the full meals are better The view at sunset was beautiful.

Ordered cheeseburgers, mozzarella sticks, fish and chips, chowder and patty melt special. Food was very good! We went on a Friday at the end of July around 2pm. The place on, y had a couple of other customers so we were seated quickly. Love the popcorn machine in the bar area for customers to help themselves. Our waitress though not very social was very quick and efficient. Always around when we needed her. Parking lot was nice and big. Water and boats viewable from the large windows. Inside décor is a bit rustic but very clean. Wood floor and walls. Fireplace in the middle of the dining area. Easily fit our large group of 8. Bar area is a bit dark and closed in. I would definitely eat here again.

Usually I would have rated Kubel’s a 3 or 4 star as I’ve been going there almost my whole life. But when I was there recently while the food is good(breaded tomato appetizer was huge and tasty) the service at the bar was terrible. It took 15 minutes for the bartender to stop chatting with her friend and then she was annoyed when I asked to order a drink, if you don’t want to bartend, don’t, but don’t expect me to come back and spend my money there again!

Great bar, lackluster restaurant. The food is usually mediocre, not bad, and very overpriced, to the tune of $ 15 for chicken fingers and fries!

If Unilocal allowed 0 stars, that’s how I would rate it. Food was below average but worse was the attitude of the bartenders. The arrogance and lack of acknowledging that 80% of their business comes from the summer rental community is nothing short of ignorant and stupid. They are obviously related to the owners because I can’t imagine that they would still have their jobs.

My husband and I really enjoyed this place! We tried the lobster mac and cheese, lobster shooters, clams on a half shell, and crab dip. Everything was so fresh and delicious, the waitress was very sweet and helpful. When we didn’t like one of our drink selections, they replaced it with no problems. The view of the bay was lovely. I would definitely recommend stopping by this place for lunch or dinner!

I went there today for lunch; I walked over from the White Whale Motel which is right next door. The food was excellent. I had the lobster macaroni and cheese appetizer and the chicken quesadillas. My table had a great view of the bay.

Great service. Great food. Fresh half shell clams were very fresh! They were still moving as I squeezed lemon juice on them! Fresh & Delicious!

Bar smelled like bleach… watched the bar staff short pour two drinks and top pour a whiskey and coke. Bar really needs a makeover and staff retrained.

I have one question. Did I eat in the same restaurant as all these negative comments? My experience was fantastic!!! My server, Maggie, was great. The place was crowded but that didn’t matter. I was seated quickly. Food and service were outstanding. In fact, the crowd actually gave life to the place. I recommend this place to everyone!!!

A long wait and slow service make for a blessing and a curse at Kubel’s. I wonder if perhaps the word is getting out that the food is really(in general) very good and they’re having a hard time logistically handling that. The entire table(party of 11, zods) enjoyed their meal. My oldest daughter exclaimed after her first bite: «The shrimp tastes like coconut!» Yes dear, yes it does. And that’s why it’s glorious. Meanwhile my crabcake & shrimp special was delightful. Unlike another not-to-be-named restaurant just up the road that only takes cash, this crabcake was actually LUMPCRABMEAT, not filler. No, it wasn’t the best crabcake I’ve ever had… but it was VERYGOOD. The shrimp, now those were spectacular. All the mouth-watering juicy pops-in-your-mouth feeling and taste that you’ve every wished for from your favorite cockroaches of the sea. Man. Stellar. [Hang on, I need a moment here to calm down.] There wasn’t a disappointed palate at the table. Blackened salmon was a hit as well. Um, #protip though: don’t order the NE clam chowder. It’s a bit like eating watered down chalk. Overall though the food was a hit, the service was good given the size of table and how busy they were, and the waitress was ultra fast with the check(which was appreciated given the extra little tykes we had along). AND I could pay with a credit card. THANKYOU.
