Ordered the Spicy Hot Chocolate, which was the perfect accompaniment to the brisk day. The spices were balanced very well with the deep, rich notes of chocolate. My boyfriend ordered a coffee, which he loved as well.

Visited hear twice while in town and I got the Spicy(Mexican?) hot chocolate both times because it was so deliciously done right! My girlfriend ordered an espresso once and I think a latte the other time. I enjoyed the small and quaint feel of the the place and appreciated the friendliness of the staff. There are a few seats if you want to hang around and wifi. However, I enjoyed grabbing our cup of hot liquids and taking a stroll down by the harbor.

This is a great place if being disrespected by astonishingly rude hipsters makes your coffee experience excellent. I have been there a few times and the coffees are not that good. The pastries are made of drywall, it seems. The chocolatte is something you can make at home without the added feature of paying for the privilege of being snarled at by a neckbearded, tattooed ironist. Don’t be silly. Coffee is more fun almost everywhere else.

Nice looking coffee shop. Was happy to find this place open early in the morning(at 7:30). The latte was good. Got a croissant which was very fresh.

I got a dark roast brewed coffee in an airpot that you pump. The coffee was warm, not hot, and I noticed another reviewer’s mom mentioned the same issue. And it was a pinch weak. The chocolatte was freshly brewed with Mexican chocolate and was pretty good. We didn’t eat in this cool looking place with a retro décor but the food smelled good.

Yummy Mexican hot chocolate. Lady didn’t look at me when she was taking my order. Nice place but a little unkempt.

So very disappointed, the coffee was weak, the chocolate latte made my stomach hurt. And less than a block away is Matsumoto, much much better.

Nice place and great staff! The drinks were delicious. The place was so hot though that we could not stay there and relax. A little cross breeze or air conditioning would be helpful. But I really liked the place and would go back!

Impressed with the variety on the menu from cold brew to chemex and your regular sugary lattes. Only complaint was really the wait every time.

I went here almost every day for coffee or a latte while in Maine. The iced Choco latte is great, although they made it kind of strong the last time I got it. It’s really nice inside as well. They have all these random antique chairs that don’t match, which sounds quirky at first but is really quite charming. They have 3 or 4 different flavors of coffee for self-serve each day. I always was happy with mine, but my mom complained about hers being lukewarm a couple times. I was satisfied with everything I got here, though. The choco latte is really unique and tasty. You definitely should try one if you’re in town. One thing I didn’t like was that they had a cake sitting on the counter, uncovered, right next to the cash register where all the customers stand. I went back the next day, and the cake was still there with a few pieces left… Ick. I wouldn’t order any cake, but the coffee drinks are excellent.

Great drinks. Bad service. They filled out cups halfway and proceeded to argue with us over the fact that our glass was half full of whip cream. A little skeezy if you know what I mean. They just put more milk in the drink and watered it down. Super disappointing.

The music and atmosphere are the main attractions here, at least on a rainy Sunday. Coffee quality comes in second, pastries(to the extent that they even have any) are a far distant third, service comes last. Paying $ 3.89 for a small cappuccino, with self service and self removal, is a bit much. Hardly any pastries available on a Sunday morning at 11am is only acceptable because their quality makes you wish you had not bought any.

I visited this place multiple times while I was in town for vacation. I looooved the mexican hot chocolate, the Coho-latte and hot chocolate. My friends had espressos and teas, and we all loved our drinks. Recommended!

A nice café with a chocolate twist sits toward the edge of town, offering coffee and Mexican hot chocolate drinks. The staff know their beans, and were not afraid to talk through the tasting points of my pour over. My girlfriend had the Choco latte, iced, which seems to be one of the signature drinks. It was nice, with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. I tried the pourover with Columbian beans, at the recommendation of the staff. This is a new bean, and had notes of citrus, and a smooth caramel body. As I struggled to find the notes, the barista took time to walk me through them, and talked me through my first few sips. Service like this always gets me, and although I struggled to identify everything, my girlfriend did. The orange cranberry scone was potent, but not too sweet, and went nicely with the citrus from the Columbian pourover. Complete the Bar Harbor laid-backness with outdoor seating, and a nice May breeze, and this hit the afternoon break my long day needed. Certainly a spot to return to when I return next month. Would recommend to serious coffee snobs and casual friends looking for a chocolate twist on the usual coffee shop. Judging by the barista here, you’re in good hands, even coming from this New York coffee snob.

Oh you gotta come here. I was here 2 days and came 4 times. They made me a Chocolate Almond Chai(my creation as they had never made one) Hubby had coffee cake each time and tea. The coffee cake is fresh and a different flavor each time. Apple one day, blueberry and then cinnamon. I had one of their homemade chocolates. OMG, I dont usually buy candy but this was sooo fantastic. Their coffee smelled good but I didn’t have any. Most of the customers seemed happy with what they were having. The place is open year round from 7 – 7. The staff was so sweet, except this one guy, who must have wanted to go home and just was tired.

I came here multiple times and the few food items they have all taste artificial. A simple bagel with butter had a rancid taste and I tried a really over-salted everything bagel with chive cream cheese that was bright green due to artificial coloring. Not to mention the café latte. I have never had anything like that. I suspect they use half and half creamer instead of milk.

Back to update my review. I have visited this conveniently located, tidy coffee shop a few times now. The shop is pretty inviting, nice big front windows and I would say that it can seat roughly 30 – 35 people. They have drip coffee, espresso, a few kinds of hot chocolate, etc… They also have chocolates. No pastries or anything, which you would kind of expect to see in a coffee shop. You can also buy bags of coffee. The staff is pretty pleasant. Not sure what their hours are during the warmer months, but they appear to be 7 – 5 during the off-season. When I looked online to check the hours yesterday, they were listed from 7−9pm. Sign out front says differently. They may wish to change that. All 3 times I went, I ordered spicy mexican hot chocolate/mexican hot chocolate. The first time, my drink was sweet, hot, and spicy. Delicious. The second time, fairly sweet, not so spicy and luke warm. The last time(Ordered Reg. Mex Hot Chocolate) it was sweet and again luke warm. I don’t know about you, but when I order a hot beverage, I expect it to be exactly that… HOT. I was really hoping to find a year round coffee shop that I could enjoy in the area. I guess the search is still on.

I had high hopes for this place. I really did. After a few days in Acadia, stopping in Bar Harbor at night, I hadn’t been able to find a solid thirdwave shop. Tourists just wouldn’t appreciate it, I guess. So when I saw that Chocolatte used Chemex and other manual process, I was ecstatic. Unfortunately, even though on the surface it looks like they know what they’re doing, they can only go so far using mediocre-at-best, stale beans from a middle-of-the-road roaster somewhere else. Next time I’m in Acadia/Bar Harbor, I’d like to see a thirdwave shop using Counter Culture or Intelligensia, then we’ll finally have relief from the mediocrity of Bar Harbor’s coffee scene.

The Mexican chocolate is divine. Not too sweet. Got a chocolatte with cayenne and I am in heaven! Soy cappuccino perfection as well. Staff is knowledgable and friendly. Outdoor seating for people watching. Today an elderly gentleman is offering free chess lessons!

Excellent cappuccino, the best I’ve found in Bar Harbor so far. I had a delicious pastry and an individual chocolate — both were very good. I loved their outdoor seating — the chairs they have(these green plastic types) were extremely comfortable! I hung out with some friends and my dog and had a very relaxing, beautiful afternoon. I hate to post and reveal Chocolatte as such a hidden gem, but they deserve recognition. I hope the menu soon expands to additional offerings, like sandwiches and wraps — but it was perfect for my afternoon on Saturday! Great place!
