Forgot something on your way up on your camping trip? Need cheap campwood since you can’t bring it in from out of state? Want to check out a nice selection of local craft brews? Need ice? Need to grab a local paper? This is the place to stop! Worth going out of your way to get here to get a few things, not overly priced at all. Some places hammer the crap out of you if you forget something. I used to remember the days that film prices were out of this world… remember those days?! The women working were polite and helpful and not in an obnoxious way, definitely recommend it!

I stopped here twice on my trip recently for ice and wood and the woman working there both times was really friendly. The store itself has mostly camping gear including beer. Def worth a stop if your camping in the area.

On my recent trip to Maine, I was fortunate enough to really get back in touch with Nature. I went on hikes, walked along the Atlantic coastline, and saw various wildlife, including chipmunks, geese and seagulls. However, being a City Boy at heart, I found myself longing for certain metropolitan items — enter the Bar Harbor Convenience Store. This was located only about two blocks from our lodgings. The products provided at BH Convenience are useful, unique and eclectic in taste. They even carry Diet Ginger Ale, which is something most convenience stores lack. We also tried an organic mosquito repellent that worked alright but smelled atrocious. Their selection of camping equipment and outdoor items is very good. They also have a wide assortment of wines priced very reasonably. If I was a local, I’d be coming here all the time to restock my home wine collection. One brand of wine is even in a bottle shaped like a lobster. This is not a large surprise considering we’re in Maine, but the wine itself is from California. The employees here are friendly and efficient, and parking is abundant in the large car park out front. Residents of Mount Desert Island and visitors alike should definitely check this place out for their camping and picnic needs. Thankfully, no chipmunks stowed away in my luggage.
