9.99 for ½ lb pulled pork 2 sides /Texas toast Portions are generous so it’s a good value for the $ pulled pork was tender and delicious they offer multiple in house BBQ sauces I tried their hottest — The Hot House and found it to be to my liking Fried Okra was good Collards were a little bitter but I enjoyed them Hush puppies — were a little dense and lacking flavor, almost as if an ingredient was left out by accident Service was friendly and attentive

Visited the mountains over the weekend for a getaway. Decided to stop here for lunch and boy were we pleaser! The waitress was super nice, the food came out quick, the pork was juicy, grits delicious, sauces mouthwatering, all around a great experience.

Sampler/dinner for two is a good deal, includes three kinds of pork and four sides. They bring a basket of hush puppies which are very flavorful. The side salads are made with real mixed greens, no iceberg, that’s a plus. Sweet potato fries were nice and crispy. I wasn’t crazy about the mac and cheese, but everything else was very good.

Fantastic !!! This place is just awesome, from the second we sat down at the bar and discovered a great beer selection. we started w the smoked wings which were amazing and the sauces(the Piedmont and the hot sauce) were some of the best I’ve ever had. The ribs were the best and had so much meat on them. Great sides ! We will be back soon

Went there tonight and it was really good. Staff was friendly and service was excellent. Waitress was already on it with bringing extra plates for my little ones to share a meal and my husband and I also shared the full rack of ribs meal. It was HUGE! We were worried it might not be enough and decided to get filling sides, fried okra and mac n cheese and wow! It was waaaay too much food. We brought back most of the sides. We did eat all the ribs because they will not be as good left over but we really stuffed ourselves. I highly recommend getting the ribs. My kids shared a childs burger and green beans for the side. The burger looked great! We brought ¼ of the burger home and half the green beans. You will get your monies worth here.

We have had both lunch and dinner at this restaurant. The food is great and the service is outstanding. Jewel our server did an awesome job of taking care of us. I wish we were locals so we could eat there more often.

As a few other reviews stated«Keep Pedalin». Out of our group of 9 that ate there 1 person liked their food. He got a salad! I got the Beef and Green Chille Tacos. They were so tasteless I needed to add hot sauce and bbq to give it some flavor. My beef was way over cooked to the point it was mushy! The 4 men in our group got Platters. The brisket was all fat and the pulled pork had an odd taste to it. Nothing tasted legit and smoked like bbq should. They rely too much on the sauces. The Mac and Cheese was inedible. Disgusting actually. The Ribs were«ok». I am pretty shocked at the amount of good reviews The Pedalin Pig has! This was not what we experienced at all. To top off our trip. 5 out of the 9 In our group got sick! Including my son who ate a cheeseburger! We ate here our last day on vacation unfortunately and we all had a 7 – 10 hour miserable drive home. The plus side the appetizers were pretty good. The sweet tea was good also.

I’m a big fan of BBQ so my husband and I stopped here while visiting NC. What a disappointment! The brisket was almost entirely fat. I left about half of it on my plate because it was inedible. The baked beans were good and the free hush puppies were a nice treat. My husband ordered a full rack of ribs for a pricey $ 23.95. It was huge and really feel like the server should warn people. It could feed 2 – 3 people. My daughter ordered mac n cheese but wouldn’t touch it. I’m not sure what it was made of, but looked like gnocchi. We definitely won’t be back. Big disappointment.

Great good-I would change corn on the cob-not much taste. I got the Veggie Platter-corn on the cob, Brunswick stew, & collard greens-ALL good except corn. Husband got Smoked Turkey sandwich w/green beans-he enjoyed it all. Son got Angus burger w/fries-he enjoyed it all.

I’ve driven by this place many, many times on my way to Boone but the timing was never right. This time I made it a point to eat here. Nice décor of wood and amusing signs with a lot of old license plates on the outer wall. plenty of tables and HUGE booths. And I mean huge! You could almost fit 8 people at these things! There is also a separate room with a bar to watch some sports. We sat at a booth overlooking the waterwheel out by a outdoor sitting area. We ordered the sweet tea which is perfectly sweet. For the appy, we got the jalapeño poppers which is with cheddar cheese and not cream cheese(my Fav) but still very good. Fresh hushpuppies are free when ordering entrees, they were very moist, not overly sweet. All three of us got the half rack of ribs all with the western style sauce. They do have six different sauces; western which is the sweet red sauce,(BabyRay style) eastern: ketchup vinegar, SC: mustard base, Honey chipotle, Smokehouse, and the Piedmont. The ribs themselves are some of the best I’ve had. Fall off the bone delicious. They don’t rely on the sauce for flavor, it has a fantastic rub that is smoked before finishing them over flame with the sauce. Two sides are included(awesome BBQ slaw) and Texas toast, a great deal at $ 13.99

This restaurant is everything it’s hyped up to be. The service there is excellent. Last night we had our appetizer in 3 minutes, alongside the free hush puppies that they serve you when you first sit down, and our entrees in 10 minutes. The pork sandwich was juicy and they make their own barbecue sauces! The prices are reasonable and I am looking forward to eating my leftovers for dinner tonight.

Good service, I enjoyed the jalapeño poppers and pulled pork tacos. The tacos had pork rinds sprinkled on top, sauces were good but I should have asked for a spicier type. 2 dollar drafts of bud and PBR.

Hesitated going here because I did not enjoy it when it was under another name and my general rule of thumb that I don’t like the way most NCBBQ joints chop their pork into mush. However I decided to give it a try and was glad I did. The ribs were outstanding and the pulled pork was just that-pulled not chopped to death. The pit master clearly knows his/her stuff. Excellent smoke flavor. Brisket was ok but frankly brisket can seize up on you if you slice it too thick and it cools any. Based on my experience I’d stick to the pork. Your experience or taste may differ. I hold back that fifth star because the side dishes really came up short. I would swear the collards I was served had been cooked in unsalted, unseasoned water. No trace of meat seasoning. Very odd. The cornbread salad must have a following or history but to me it was potato salad with cornbread substituted for the potato. I did not care for it. We ordered the sampler platter for two and ended up bringing half home. Great value at $ 29 for the meat alone.

Five stars in class. From the most generous service to the out of this world grub, the Peddalin’ Pig reigns supreme in down home righteous barbecue. Let’s cut to the chase, the ribs fell off the bone — clean as could be. I went with the server’s recommendation of honey chipotle sauce. At first I was hesitant as this isn’t classic Carolina style, but I’m so glad I took the leap of faith. Sweetness from the honey and a hint of spice from the chipotle had my mouth watering from the get go. The tender meat had me at a loss for words. The sides were great, too. The BBQ slaw was unlike any slaw I’ve ever had. Diced cabbage was served cold and mixed with BBQ sauce. Just excellent. The mac n’ cheese was simple; cooked with pasta shells and had an outstanding cheese flavor. Add a slab of Texas toast and you’re content as humanly possible. Again, the service was outstanding. Our party of eight feasted like kings and were stuffed for the remainder of the day. The Pedalin’ Pig is worth driving an hour of the way for. The spacious, homey lodge provides everything you want and then some from a BBQ joint.

If your thinking of the Pedalin’ Pig… KEEPPEDALIN’!!! The sauces are the best thing there! Servers are unorganized! Bbq brisket tastes and looks like pot roast! Manager was super nice though! And we never got our hush puppies from our waiter… For awesome bbq. Woodlands is the best and closer than JDs Smokehouse!

Came here during a ski trip at Sugar Mountain and was hoping for some spectacular BBQ. What we got wasn’t spectacular, but it wasn’t terrible either. Atmosphere of the restaurant was comfortable and was very typical of a BBQ restaurant(wooden tables and benches, etc.). Servers were also pretty nice, and one of the best parts was the free tray of hushpuppies that table receives — such a nice and unexpected treat! Too bad our experience only went downhill from there. I don’t eat meat, so I wound up getting a sampler of sides: potato salad, mac & cheese, sweet potato, and collard greens. Most of my friends chose the Worker’s Lunch Special because it seemed like it was the best bang for the buck. The size of every order was smaller than expected, which was a little disappointing, but not too unexpected given the reasonable prices. I found the potato salad to be a little too creamy — maybe a little less mayo would have made it better. The mac & cheese didn’t have much flavor to it, and the collard greens were a little too chewy for my liking. The baked sweet potato was fine, but it’s really difficult to mess that one up. My friends complained that the portions of their meals were way too small, especially the sandwich, which was much tinier than they expected. The pork in the sandwich was decent, but required a smothering in barbecue sauce for it to have any flavor. I was the most upset by the fact that almost all of the waters that given out to our table tasted like watered down Sprite… and that was a little disconcerting. How can you mess up water??? We immediately asked for new cups of water, but in my opinion, it’s totally unacceptable to put customers through that kind of confusion in the first place. I guess you can’t expect too much from a random side-of-the-road barbecue joint in the mountains of NC, but I’ll probably be picking another restaurant next time I’m in the area.
