Not a good experience. The chili was bitter and the tomato soup was really tomato sauce. The macaroni and cheese was out of a box(our 20 month old son refused to eat it. The waiter was very nice and understanding. They did not charge us for our dinner. We will try some place else for dinner.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. This is by far the nastiest place I have ever eaten. This restaurant is run down and in embarrassing condition. We should have known better when there was not one person the the place and a dog sitting in the parking lot. The bathrooms were the filthiest I’ve seen. No toilet paper. We went there breakfast. After looking over a PAPER menu we placed our order. Let’s start off with the lipstick stains on the coffee cups. We waited way too long for our food. The food was absolutely disgusting. The pancakes were flat and undercooked and were sent back because they sent out a plate with crumpled pancakes. The eggs were runny. The food came out with black spots on it from an unclean griddle. I can’t understand how this place has four stars on Unilocal.Don’t waste your money. You can get a better breakfast at McDonalds.

We were in town for the first time in five years and the place was fantastic. I grew up going to this place with my grandparents and it was always a treat. Visiting it again was great! We we’re greeted by Makala and shown to the bar. We ordered two jack and cokes to take the frost off and they were brought to us strong and fast. Michael was our bartender and did a great job of keeping our glasses full. We started with the cheese board that was very good. I had the short rib and my wife had the chicken pie. They were both excellent and the homemade chips were amazing we ended up ordering another side of them. After dinner We then met the new owner Jason and found he was also our great chef. The upper bar was closed but they took time and gave us tour of the upstairs bar. I look forward to returning. Thanks again for the hospitality!

No idea how this place has more than 1 star. Had a «family gathering» for thanksgiving break this year at beech mountain and assumed this place would live up to the 4 star review. Needless to say, the pancakes were awful, the eggs were runny(when asked to be over easy), and the contents in the omelette were cold. We were greeted by a women on her phone and told to report to the bartender who apparently was doing everything that day. Not sure if he was the only one manning the kitchen, but it seemed like it. Nothing against him because he was obviously trying to satisfy the group but there were 2 other groups that were served before us and 1 group that left without being seen. I highly recommend you drive the extra 30 minutes to the nearest McDonald’s and order the hot cakes platter.

I don’t know what Alan J was talking about, but the new chef and management is really turning this place around! Excellent food(we had the stuffed pork loin) and great service. A new sports bar area upstairs is open and a lot of fun. Highly recommended.

Really great service! A guy I’m not sure his name. Ordered food, beer, champagne bottle, and dessert good quality food. The atmosphere could use a little sprucing up and some background music the place was very quiet I felt like I had to whisper.

Very disappointing. My wife ordered the scallops. They were tasteless and chewy. They gave her another dish of crab cakes and brussel spouts. Crab cake did not taste very good. Brussel sprouts were hard and undercooked. At least they didn’t charge us for her dinner! I had a Caesar salad, which consisted of 3 romaine leaves with a little bit of dressing for $ 6! I had the duck breast, which tasted good. The risotto that came with it was very good. This restaurant used to be excellent, but I won’t go back now. The waiter said they had a new chef, but they better get another one!

Ambiance isn’t great at all. But, the food makes up for it. I had the duck and my husband had the trout and they were both unbelievably delicious. I was very impressed. I don’t recommend the steak due to the size. For $ 26 you should get more than 6 oz. of short loin. Other than that, we would return. Get the duck!!!

This will be a diner and breakfast review as we stayed on site at the Archers Mountain Inn and ate here for both meals back to back in a Snow storm that shutdown the Mountain road to people like us driving a mini van. I wont be to hard on the Diner but it could have been way better for what it cost. The roads had been snow covered for days and the trucks hadn’t been able to make the regular deliveries. Had I had good Cell coverage i could have checked in on Unilocal and used a 15 off coupon which would have been nice. The meal was somewhat cold and all brought out at the same time. The kids food and apps were ordered at the same time then our entrée five or so minutes later but it all came out at the same time. The Waitress was in the weeds big time as it was only one of her and about 5 or 6 tables of guest. We ordered the kids chicken fingers and fries and they ate most of it but didn’t care to much for the breading on the chicken strips. We got a large bowl of spinach artichoke dip with flat bread dippers, the dip was very good and had large chunks of artichoke which we like. The bread however was cold. We didn’t see a ton on the menu that jumped out to us since some items were not available due to lack of deliveries. So we both went with the crab cakes that the waitress said would be of good size. The Crab cakes came out two on the plate and about the size of golf balls, they did look to be almost all lump crab but i was expecting much more for such an expensive item. When i asked about the size i was again told it was the last of the crab as they had been substituting crab for shrimp on other dishes as they had ran out of shrimp the day before. I gave my wife the prettier of the two plates; hers had a nicer appearance and was presented very nice, mine looked like it was tossed on the plate as an after thought. The local beer was my favorite part of this meal. Now for Breakfast we returned in the morning, and since we were a guest the night before we issued a $ 12 voucher plus two drinks for use towards the meal. We ordered 3OJ’s for the kids, 2 coffees for the adults, the kids each got the kids French toast and Bacon, i ordered the Apple french toast and my wife order the bacon, egg and cheese omelet. The food was hot and amazing! my apple french toast with Carmel sauce was OMG good! I let the kids and wife try and everyone loved it. The kids really liked the french toast on the kids meal but my 1 year old couldn’t eat it because of the crust on the bread, but he loved eating some of the top and my wife’s eggs. The omelet was very tasty and had lots of filling. this was a great redemption from the previous nights meal and saved them from a 3 or 2 star review. I would go back just for the apple french toast! even better after the voucher and free drinks, the bill was under 6 bucks! I gave her a great tip even before she gave us to go cups of coffee for the cold day ahead.

Wonderful views! Ate there for breakfast and dinner during our stay at the inn. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted very fresh. For dinner we had the lamb and the fried chicken with pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. We shared everything, and took plenty of leftovers back to the room. Great experience and highly recommended!

Quality of Food — 1.5÷2 *It was good, but I wasn’t blown away. I really enjoyed the Trout, but the pasta definitely was out of a box. Dessert however was truly excellence. I’d go back just for dessert and the view. Chef had been there for a couple of months. Service — 1⁄1 *No complaints, friendly, attentive Price — 0⁄1 *Way overpriced. For 2 entrees, a glass of wine, a small(and expensive) side salad and dessert, I paid over $ 100. Frankly our entrees should have been $ 10 less each. Our side side should have been $ 5 less. Very disappointing for the quality of food. Atmosphere — 0.5÷1 *It would be easy to give the view(which is great) a thumbs up. But the fact is, there are many great views of the mountains in the Boone area. Our view was compromised by an ugly satellite, which was obtrusive and obvious. We were the only people in the restaurant on a Sunday night. Just made us feel uncomfortable being the only ones. Lots of potential because of the view. Scaling back the prices and getting rid of the satellite could really do wonders for this place.

Massive waste of money. Cafeteria grade food at exotic prices. But guess what? There ain’t my much else in this town! Also… got run down by an angry dog on the way back to our car in the parking lot. Who needs desert?!

The owner, the food and the views of the mountains are great. Robby is a great server/bartender and is always awesome, even if he is an Auburn fan. Go Noles! ;)

My husband and I stayed three nights at the Archers Mountain Inn and had dinner at their restaurant, the Jackalopes View, two of those nights. We were both delighted with our entrees on both evenings! My wiener schnitzel was beautifully prepared and delicious and the filet was a perfect, mouth-watering medium rare, just as I ordered. My husband loved the shrimp and grits so much that he had it both nights! The wait staff is exceptionally well-trained and knowledgeable, as well as very pleasant! Finally, the view is magnificent!

We went to dinner last nite. My husband ordered a RACK of New Zealand chops for $ 27.00. Three small chops came out. A rack is 8 not 3 and not for $ 27.00. My escargot came with a few on aflat plate with 3 small pieces if bread and a drizzling of garlic butter sauce. Escargot is supposed to be served in a ramekin baking dish with lots of garlic butter n bread. My weiner schnitzel well… lets just say it tasted like chicken, very little gravy on it and no gravy on the mashed potatoes. The waitess also acted like she had better things to do that nite. These are the new owners and although he is very personable, I dont want to eat there again

We ate a Jackalopes last night and what a great experience, we were a little gun shy as we red a review on facebook and here about the bad experience someone had that day but we had a reservation and went. Were they wrong! Our server was Erin and what a pleasure she was and it seemed as if everyone in the packed restaurant felt the same. The new owners John and Gloria were on the floor and quite attentive to everyone’s needs, I had the Venison special and my wife had the duck both amazing, we were there for our anniversary and as soon as Gloria heard she sent over Champagne on the house, very nice. After dinner we told John about the review and our trepidation about coming, he explained that they had only had the place a couple of months and they were in the process of rebranding and fixing all the websites but have missed some. Overall for us a great evening that we will not soon forget.

New Owners Off to a great start! For years we have driven by Jackalopes View and never stopped for a meal. Well last night we broke our streak and we had a delightful evening. Upon arrival we were greeted by the new owners and engaging bartender Robby who served up some delicious cocktails and beers. Overall our meal was very tasty and the owners and staff were attentive. We tried the shrimp and grits, the encrusted trout, crab cakes and duck. Everyone agreed that the food was delicious. Its great to have another restaurant option on Beech Mountain. We highly recommend you give it a go!

We stayed at Archers Inn and had one dinner at Jackalopes. I must say the food was very good. My wife had onion soup which was nicely prepared and loaded with croutons and cheese. I started with the Texas chili which had nice chunks of beef and just enough spice to make it interesting. For the main course we had Wiener schnitzel and pork loin roast. Both were prepared well and very tasty. The veal could have had a little less breading but none the less it was very tasty. All in all a very good meal with great views. Oh yeah, nice size portions too. A little pricey but the views are worth it.
