This place was recommended to me by some local friends. I was very disappointed with the burrito that I got. Although it was a good size it just did not have very good flavor. I would choose Chipotle over the Verve any day.

The food and prep is certainly fresh. Good quality food at a pretty good price point. Not your Mexican style burrito so if that’s what you are looking for you won’t get it here. What’s here is something lighter and fresher and certainly Californian.

I was so happy to see Verve open up a location in Bangor. I had been to their Orono location several times but Bangor is closer for me. They rehabbed this old first floor building with exposed brick and it is really gorgeous. The staff is very helpful and friendly. AND if you have someone«on wheels»(walker, wheelchair, etc) there is plenty of open space to navigate, which is unlike many downtown places. The burritos are good, but I love the coffee and the atmosphere most of all. Great place to sit and ruminate.

Was stopping in town on my way back from Baxter State Park, tired and hungry and not wanting to take too long. Oh, and it was Sunday night. Found Verve and it was perfect. Wish they had one of these at home. Burritos were priced well and tasted good, prices weren’t bad. They heat up their tortillas in a warmer, which is a bit of a no brainer, but it’s amazing how few places do this. Good salsas and good coffee too!

Local chipotle in Bangor. We stopped over for breakfast on our drive from Acadia to Boston. Food is okay, not exciting. I do think Chipotle tastes better. Place was clean, nice décor, friendly people. Quick tip — portion sizes are much smaller for bowls, burritos seem fine.

Absolutely delicious burritos, with Valentina hot sauce(which is the absolute best). On par with Chipolte for best burritos in Bangor, except that verve might win simply because they’re local. Vegetarian options abound, ingredients are always fresh and always delicious, staff is friendly and you always feel good having eaten there.

This place was excellent and SOMUCHBETTER than bland, over-priced Chipolte. The young women behind the counter were quick, savvy, and fun to talk with. The chicken burrito was fresh, tasty, and huge. And, the place was clean, very comfortable, and kinda cool. Really people, support the local guys who«beat the pants off» of the big, generic food machines. Verve ROCKS!

I got so excited when I saw chipotle across from my hotel only to realize that it was opening a few months later… So I Unilocaled burrito and saw verve and decided to give it a try. I get there and it was similarly set up like chipotle. I ordered the usual rice and beans and meat and lettuce and when I asked for chips and guac, they pointed to a bag of chips and said no guac, sorry. There’s no comparison to chipotle but at least, they tried. Honestly, it wasn’t very tasty. And neither was the smoothie.

This is a trendy little burrito joint in downtown Bangor — and I’m sorry to say, but to me, it is just so so. Pros: Verve has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and huge burritos! The location is great, and the smoothies are fantastic! Cons: the burritos are kind of bland compared to other places I have been. We went to Verve for a work lunch the other day, and a coworker said the meat in her burrito tasted like cat food. My burrito was lack luster, even when adding the special sour cream and salsa. I was starving when I went in, but stopped eating half way through, as I had lost my thrill to eat this thing. I then went back to the office and ate something more appetizing. I have been here a few times now, waiting for it to blow my skirt up and wow me, but it never has. Now I can sing the hallelujah praises as chipotle is in town, and I can get burritos that knock my socks off. I will say this — I will continue to go to Verve — but only for smoothies!

Why does this place have to be so far from my house? I would be eating there every day if it wasn’t 45 min. away! To start, the 2 young women behind the counter welcomed my friend and I with sunny smiles and a delightful attitude, despite the late hour. We studied the menu and hemmed and hawed for quite a few minutes and I finally decided on a burrito bowl with pork and with mango pineapple salsa — it was an inspired choice. The young woman who took my order assured me that it was a great combination and she was certainly right! My friend had a chicken burrito salad with guacamole and gave it a rave review as well. I can’t wait to go back!

I usually avoid downtown to eat because it tends to be a logistical chore, but I heard so many good things about Verve I had to go. We went on a Monday, after 2 pm so the place was almost empty. The lady behind the counter that took care of us was super nice and walked us through our first time ordering. Ordering is similar to Chipotle as far as assembling your meal. No sweat. I had a large wheat burrito with chorizo. It was delicious! My wife had a regular white burrito with chicken and loved it! Believe the hype. PS: The 12″ burritos are ENORMOUS, delicious, and messy. Grab a fork just in case. Unless you haven’t eaten all day the 10″ will probably take care of business.

Had an absolutely wonderful burrito bowl! You have to get habanero-garlic sour cream!

A cool atmosphere and a unique menu makes this place a nice change of pace for the dining options downtown. It’s a lot like Chipotle, Qdoba, Moe’s, etc. but definitely not to the quality of these similar chains. Recommend this for any Tex-Mex lovers in Bangor who are in need of a fix.

It was a good burrito, but the burrito-ista(Is that a word? It is now!) who was behind the counter at Verve garnered this place an extra star! Having never been here before, I wasn’t sure what to get… I decided to go for a standard burrito, but didn’t want too much rice. The gentleman behind the counter offered not only to show me how much rice goes in the regular amount, but allowed me to choose half so that I wasn’t overloaded. In addition, he offered to up my quotient of black beans, which I love! Hooray for customization! I had a chicken burrito on a whole wheat tortilla with rice, black beans, salsa Fresca, and a touch of habanero garlic sour cream(Spicy! I was warned!). Because of the extra black beans in my burrito, my server even warned me to grab some extra napkins, because it would probably be very juicy – a very good heads up! On the whole, it was tasty… I wish the chicken and beans were more seasoned, though. I’m thinking of trying a different protein next time around. Lovely layout inside, with beautiful wood throughout.

Verve is the sole burrito proprietor in Bangor, and luckily it gets the job done. It’s sort of a cross between Chipotle and Dos Toros(NYC) but much more laid back, with a lower initial price point and an a la carte additional cost for onions/peppers(+ 0.99). Burritos come in two sizes, 10 or 12″, and are much smaller than the miniature footballs served at Chipotle. For the non-tortilla crowd, bowls can be ordered, but understand, they are moderately-sized cereal bowls filled with rice/beans/the works. Meat options are ALL shredded, so don’t expect cut steak — as a result, pork is certainly the best option. Also, the guacamole is shot from a caulking gun, and and is more likely a guaco-cream sauce or pre-packaged rather than served fresh, and they go light on the portion. One nice perk is the tableside tapatio, which can add some welcomed spicy kick. Overall, the burritos taste pretty damn good, and are worth trekking for when in downtown.

Attractive atmosphere, friendly, upbeat staff. We dined in and sat by the window, enjoying the view and bustle of downtown. I got the chicken burrito, spicy, with all the fixings. It was delicious, but I did find myself wishing it had more kick and heat. You will not leave hungry. The large is an impressive amount of food and I could not finish.

Pros: Friendly staff, vegetarian beans, variety of salsas & sauces, fresh dark green lettuce. Wheat & white tortillas available. Cool place — booths, tables, window bar, wood floors, art on the walls, good music. Cons: A bit on the expensive side for a rice & bean burrito(sm $ 5, lg $ 6, vegetable burritos $ 5.75/$ 5.75, meat burritos $ 6.25÷7.25, +$ 1 to add guacamole, +.75 to add onions/peppers) that’s mostly rice and doesn’t come with chips or table service. Beans & rice weren’t flavorful on their own, so we had to load up on sauce & salsa.

I was visiting in Bangor and my aunt said that we had to try this new place called Verve which was getting great reviews around town and so we had to go! When we walked in the delicious smell of perfectly seasoned meats and rice and beans hit us and I was ready to destroy some food! The place had a very eclectic look and design which gave the place a very edgy feel. When we got to the register the ladies who were creating the burritos were so happy and nice! The service was great! I ordered a 12″ burrito with steak and chorizo. I added mild salsa, sour cream, brown rice, black beans and a flour tortilla. It was amazing and delicious! I wish this place was close to my house! I’d be coming here so often that they’d tell me to leave. It blows chipotle and Moe’s Grill away! If you’re close you MUST try this place. You won’t be disappointed!
