This place is great, the food is so flavorful and the portions are huge. A bit pricey but worth it. I have tried the jerk chicken and curry chicken platters so far and plan on trying the other things as well. I like the hot sauce too and it is very spicy.

I’m from Miami, FL I have been exposed to the best of the best in Caribbean cuisine. That being said. I ordered Goat Roti and the Flatbread she’ll made from Atta Flour was PREMADE! Nope, you need to make the flatbread right at the moment I place my order. Because that flatbread was dry and crumbling and broke causing the insides to runout. Fail! Stop being lazy. Stop the shortcuts. Because real Trini’s know.

We didn’t think we would find excellent West Indian food in Baltimore, but this place proved us wrong. The reviews are accurate. This place is legit. We got ox tails, rice and peas and cabbage along with goat roti, doubles, and bake and salt fish. Man, everything was well seasoned, perfectly cooked with the right amount of heat. The bake and salt fish was my favorite. So fresh and so good. The portions were large and we had enough to eat for another meal tomorrow. Worth trying.

My wife who is of Trinidadian descent introduced me to this restaurant and I have been coming back here faithfully. Where to start? This place is great at everything. The doubles, pholourie, curry chicken, rice and peas, and the roti is amazing! But my favorite is the doubles. This restaurant makes the best doubles not only in the U.S., but also better than the ones found in Trinidad & Tobago. If you are a doubles fan, you will not be disappointed. This restaurant gets 5 stars, because the food is just simply delicious and it is reasonable. What more can you ask for?

I am very picky when it comes to Authentic taste! This place is seriously legit! I have eaten at both locations and they are consistent! I am big on consistency because its MYMONEY they are getting. You must try the doubles! Macaroni Pie! Oh my the Sunday special at Park heights! Okay I will stop now. Seriously Trust me on this one!

Best curry buss up shut. Boneless of course. The doubles are fantastic. I have not tried anything else but my husband likes the roti skins, which he is a very picky when it comes to roti. Neighborhood is dicey, but worth it.

I’ll definitely be returning to this restaurant! Their food is seasoned really well and they give large portions. I had curry chicken and my co-worker had the roti which was different but still really good. Just be careful asking for pepper if you are not really into spice. Overall, for the price and quality it was really good.

I’ve been wanting to try this place and this afternoon finally headed over for lunch. For those who don’t usually venture through this area, it is behind North East market and 4 of us girls had no issues. That being said it was daylight and it is Baltimore so it’s all about situational awareness but I would not hesitate to go back. Okay so it’s a mom and pop shop, takeout place with a few tables. The Trinidadian gentleman who took our order, I’m assuming is the owner, was super sweet and patient. Gave us good recommendations and warning about the hot sauces! I had the veggie roti(fried soft bread filled with spicy potatoes and green beans, inner layers of the bread have a crumbly spice dal mixture)…it was DELICIOUS! I asked for a mix of hot and sweet sauce and did not find it to be overly spicy, very flavorful. Portion size is huge, could be split between 2 people. We also had the fried plaintain which was made to order(definitely a dish that has to be eaten fresh)…it was greasy, but that’s the way it should be! I’ve had Trinidadian food once before and found it to be a bland version of Indian food, but the food at this spot was amazing and really represented the food of Trinidad and its history(that is, Indians who came over to Trinidad hundreds of years ago and adapted Indian food with Caribbean influences). I’ll be back!

Came here for lunch. Got curry goat, white rice and cabbage. The curry goat is seasoned very well and with good spices. The cabbage was fresh and tasty. They give large portions.

Having read the previous reviews I had high hopes for this place… sorely disappointed though. Ordered a kingfish roti, oxtail with rice n peas and a beef patty with coco bread. Cost was around $ 50 which is definitely pricey particularly for the poor quality of the food. The roti skin was stale, i ended up throwing it away after a bite as it had a weird after taste. The oxtail was pretty tasteless and again the coco bread tasted like it had been hanging around for too long. Wont go back there again. Huge thumbs down from me.

Came here for lunch. Area is near the medical campus. The suggested double was good(not seen on the menu), but very greasy. The jerk chicken entrée was very large, thus justifying the around $ 10 price for entrée. There were several pieces of chicken and the rice bed and cabbage were tasty, though I felt the chicken was too salty though since it was heavily spiced, making it hard to finish from the salt content. Overall a good place for ethnic food with a lot of strong spices.

Came for lunch. I had the jerk chicken entrée which was a very decent amount of food. It was enough for two people for sure. The chicken was delicious but quite a bit too salty. The flavor was different though, something I haven’t really had before and that was refreshing. Can attest to the double, definitely get this if not anything else. It is really tasty.

So good. I was around the Hopkins campus looking for a place to eat before a meeting, and my friend suggested we go here. I ended up getting a double, beef patty, and ginger soda for about $ 7. The beef patty was nice but fairly standard — nothing that wowed me. But the double was delicious — curried chickpeas stuffed between 2 pieces of soft fried flat bread. The chickpeas are topped with a sweet tamarind sauce and I asked for just a little bit of hot sauce. Super tasty. I was surprised how stuffed I was afterward. Another friend also ordered the goat platter which was more than enough for 2 meals — 3 – 4 heaping spoonfuls of beans and rice, 3 – 4 spoonfuls of meat, sauteed veggies for about $ 12 – 13. Overall a satisfying meal and a great deal for the price.

This is my favorite place to go in Downtown Baltimore. The doubles are fantastic. The spices are perfect, and the dough is cooked perfectly. I like them with their hot sauce. The dhal is very satisfying too.

Had I tried this place sooner, I could have been eating delish food all this time. It’s very much like my Mom’s cooking just spicier. I grew up on breads like roti, paratha and pouri. The last one is what they use in their potato-chickpea sandwich they call a ‘double’. I had been looking for pouri all over Baltimore while it was right here the entire time. Sample the spicier items first if you have a sensitive palate and keep some water handy in case you need it. Whatever spices they used definitely awakened some dragons from their sleep in the GI tract. A bit pricy but the taste was worth it and the standard three-part box was packed. I split it over two meals but it could easily be enough for three. They have a $ 10 minimum for credit cards and might ask for ID. You could always bring some cash anyway. Customer service was excellent and patient. The place was clean inside and reasonably sized with two small tables. The outside area is not so aesthetically pleasing nor the safest. You could walk here alone in broad daylight with people around but better to drive or walk with friends after 5 or so when things start getting quieter. There is a pay-to-park lot right next door.

Oh my goodness! This place is SO good! I can’t speak to whether it’s authentic or not, but to my «naïve» pallet, this is delicious! I’ve tried the jerk chicken roti and the curry chicken bus up shut. Both chickens were very tasty. I have a slight preference for the jerk chicken, but I prefer the paratha to the roti. It was a bit awkward eating the roti, since there were bones on the chicken. I ended up just taking it apart and peeling off pieces of the roti to wrap up the chicken. I don’t know if this is the«right» way to eat this or not… regardless, it’s pretty damn good! Both times I went, the person serving the food was very friendly and patient. The first time I went, the woman showed me what a roti looks like. The second time, I asked the man what a double was and he let me try one. OMG, I need to get that next time! From my sample, it was absolutely AMAZING! A tasty mix of chickpeas and potatoes between two pieces of fry bread.

Stopped in here after an event at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and was absolutely amazed by the food here. As recommended, I ordered a chicken roti and I cannot begin to describe how amazing the flavors were– the curry with the potatoes and chicken that falls of the bone hit the spot. Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, we ordered the sweet plantains. One week later, I am STILL craving those things! Highly recommend this place– it’s mom in the back cooking! Doesn’t get more authentic than that!

I would have never thought to stop by here if it weren’t for Unilocal. The staff. The man who served me was very friendly. We chatted about everything related to Baltimore for a solid 10 minutes while I chowed on the Beef Patty, which was tasty. for $ 2.50 — I don’t think you can go wrong with this snack. For my meal, I ordered the Buss Al Shutt? with Oxtail. — this may have been one of my first times trying this cuisine, and my goodness it was gooooood. Emphasis on the goood. The bone on the oxtail remained but the meat fell right off when my fork brushed it off. I will be back.

5÷30÷14 Being that my family is Trinidadian it isn’t always easy to find places that can live up to that good old home cooking of island cuisine. This place for me is the best one can get. This particular day we got some plantains and chicken roti! Boi when I tell you it is so good! The location is not too far from my job and the neighborhood is a little sketchy but they have decent hours so one won’t have to worry about the late night. There is normally meter parking around the area. The staff is so friendly and professional. They have only 2 small tables with 2 chairs each, but most people order to carryout. The prices are very reasonable and the food is oh so yummy. Definitely check them out if you are looking for some genuine island cuisine.
