This place is EVERYTHING!!! The marketplace is great but this is my fave spot! I’m here on a Monday and need to side note that Monday’s are $ 1 oyster days!!! Come through you will not be disappointed!

This is a great spot with the best Oysters you could ask for in MD. Fun staff who are proud of what they do, it’s really a great stopping point for your evening or starting point if you are headed for a night out. The marketplace is very well done as well. We tried the dumpling place(pinch dumpling) and omg the best as well. You must go!

Obviously this place is the bomb diggedy for oysters but their steamed shrimp deserve kudos. Not too large to loose their flavor, deveined and cooked perfectly with onions… the way they should be.

Came here for HH and I was pleasantly surprised! The rest of the market was pretty empty on a Friday night, but the corner by the Local Oyster was hopping! They have $ 1 local oysters from 5 to 7PM. Ask them which oysters are part of the deal because it seems like these change from day to day. We ordered 2 dozen, in 3 different varieties. Try to snag a seat by the bar for fast service — otherwise I think you have to walk up to the counter to order — and to be able to watch the shuck the oysters right then and there. I don’t remember the name, but they had a salty oyster that was oh-so-good(the other 2 types were also good, but this one was my favorite! I’ll definitely be back for HH if I’m in the area! They have a variety of other things on their menu(steamed, roasted). I’m sure they’re all great, but they’re not on HH, and I’m a sucker for HH deals. They also have a limited beer selection. Nothing too fancy with the beer.

These folks are terrific. I gave them less than a week to pull it together for a Company holiday party, and they totally rose to the occasion. Their product is superb, their service is even better. Nick, our shucker for the evening, set up a booth that was positively festive, and became a highlight of the evening for my staff.

A neighborhood gem! I’m so happy it’s right in Mt. Vernon Marketplace. Great deals on oysters during happy hour! You can sit right a the raw bar and watch them shuck away. Even though the raw oysters are fantastic, the things I keep dreaming about are their Clam and Oyster roasters! HOLYCROW they are delicious! The clams are roasted with cream, parmesan cheese and a bit of ham. Oysters are roasted with cream, parmesan and a dash of Old Bay. I think they add a little sprinkle of magic too, because these little gems are out of this world!

Best oysters in Baltimore! I didn’t know what to expect but the owner came out and gave us a great explanation ofhow they grow their own oysters and how to taste the difference between the different kinds. Highly recommend this place.

If you’re looking for salty bi-valved goodness, this is your spot! Nestled inside of Mt. Vernon Marketplace, the good folks at The Local Oysters has nice selection of Oysters and Clams. In addition to the Raw bar they also serve sandwiches(Hello shrimp salad), soup(Hello crab soup) and drinks(Beer, Bloody Mary’s and more!). I recently stopped in for their buck-a-shuck happy hr. I was not disappointed. I had the middlenecks with mignotte. So good I wanted another 2 plates! You should stop in for slurp and a sip!

(10/31/2015) Stopped in after hanging with too many small children at Mount Vernon Square. Got a Bloody Mary, great zip from horseradish, nicely thick and tomato-y and well-seasoned, good hand with the vodka. We got a dozen(four of each) of Saltgrass Points(PEI), Cape May Salts(NJ), Huckleberry(MD). They were shucked mostly well(some shell) if very, very, slowly and a little bit spacey. The oysters were fresh the MD ones sweet and mild, the PEIs firm and salty. The NJ ones a nice mix of both. Prices a touch high if you’re used to happy hour prices(might be better priced then). Accompaniments were a cocktail sauce, fresh lemon wedges, and a mignonette made with red onion and red wine vinegar. They had baked oysters, steamed shrimp, mussels, and clams, looking forward to trying those next time.

Let me start by saying, I hate oysters. I have always thought it akin to eating someone else’s snot, but on this First Friday, while out with my good friend Katie, we bumped into owner NIck and his Local Oyster stand outside of Corner Bar in Hampden. I told Nick of my aversion and he simply shucked, sauced and handed me one of his wares. I slipped it into my mouth and everything I knew changed in a few seconds. Like that food that you’ve always avoided, but end up loving, I had found the delight of the fresh caught, properly shucked(Nick couldn’t stress this part of the procedure enuf) and perfectly sauced oyster. You can find Nick and his delicious mollusks in front of Corner Bar every First Friday, but he’s got big plans for these oysters, so best to check out his facebook page for specific details of where he will be next. Thank you Nick, maybe now I will give brussels sprouts a try.

These guys are the best! I visited their booth at Sweetlife Festival and they were awesome! They cheered me on as I tried my first raw oyster and it definitely helped that it was delicious! Great, positive attitudes and great food! Perfect combination.
