I have been living here at the Guilford for about a year now. Being new to the area I was very impressed with the amenities and shear beauty of the interior of the building and the large spacious living areas, with some wonderful views. I truly would not take much stock in the reviews posted giving this building scores of 1 and 2’s anyone who posts that is definable you not reviewing appropriately. 1. The management team alone is enough to make you move in. I dealt with a very nice brunette who was more then gracious to me when I came to view the apartments and her personality and care won my boyfriend and myself over. Throughout the year they have worked with any request or problem I have had. The leasing manager is one of the sweetest woman I have ever done business with. They truly care about the building and the people who reside here. 2. The amenities alone!!! The theater room… very secluded and private which make it nice to bring friends and family over to enjoy a movie on the big screen in comfortable leather chairs. Some days the building even has fresh popcorn they provide complimentary. 3. The grills and gazebo and beautiful landscaping. Every morning I opened my blinds to the beautiful veranda views from my large windows. It was absolutely gorgeous in the winter when the snow would fall. My boyfriend and I would put the fire place on drink adult hot chocolate and sit by the window. So far during the summer the grills and pool have been so much fun. I have never eaten grilled food so much in my life! The grills are always clean, free to use and always available. I have had so many coworkers over to enjoy a nice day, the pool and grilled food. The maintenance team is very nice and very personable. Should a clogged sink occur or a broken window or etc… They have everything fixed very promptly. As for the residents I think that’s where the only issue is I have. There are a lot of college children who reside here with Hopkins university being so close. They are not overly loud or annoying in the least bit. Just as professionals you tend not to want to share living space with such young students. There have been some loud nights during weekdays but nothing to get worked up about. Even when noise was a problem the 24 hour security team is more then happy to ask to keep the volume down. And all was taken care of. Pests are not a problem never had a single issue with a roach, mouse, rat or any other type of critter. Hallways are always clean and the the air smells of air freshener sand cleaning products… All in all I love this building however the price is the reason I cannot give a full 5. I believe they should rethink how everything is charged. I get it the place is phenomenal and if you have 2,000 a month to pay for housing it is worth it!!! My rent is 1600 for a one bedroom. Plus parking plus all fees I end up paying 1,900 a month. I feel for these prices parking should be included or some to soften the blow of the cost… But all in all I would and will recommend this building. It is safe, friendly and in a great location

Living in the Guilford was an absolute nightmare. First, the management was a complete joke. They frequently handled business matters in an entirely unprofessional manner, which is unacceptable at any establishment. I should not come home and find threatening notes slipped under my door. Also, mice love garbage, which makes sense because, as the previous review stated, all the hallways always smelled like garbage. The carpet in the hallways was appalling and never cleaned once during the time I lived there. The laundry room smelled like untreated sewage, and the machines were often broken. Don’t live here under ANY circumstances: you will be overcharged, and you will regret it.

This review is my opinion, and while some may disagree with me, this reflects my experience living in the guilford. 1. Mice infestation. We had THREE mice in our apartment. My apartment was extremely clean. I am a germophobe and am currently a medical student-I thoroughly understand the importance of hygiene and cleanliness. 2. Unprofessionalism from the management office. Two examples. 1. during one of our winter breaks, one of my roommates wrote his check for —.14 when he owed —.41. While I understand that we did technically owe them money, they slipped passive aggressive notes under our door and threatened us with a fee over $ 100 for only $ 0.27. 2. once a maintenance employee came to our apartment to add some steel wool under the sink. In the process, he knocked a glass that was sitting on the counter. after he was done, he left the broken glass on the counter! After I came home, I saw this and emailed the management office to alert them. Instead of apologizing, she merely acknowledged the situation. Furthermore, she brought up a completely unrelated problem that she had with our apartment residents. Classy… 3. The garbage smell. The hallways constantly smell like boiling garbage. I don’t know how/why, but it is repulsive. 4. Fire alarms. The fire alarms in the hallway are extraordinarily sensitive, so when residents cook a particularly smokey meal in their kitchen, the alarms go off. Instead of fixing the ventilation or buying newer smoke detectors, they slip passive aggressive notes under our doorways threatening a fee if we create smoke that seeps into the hall. The fire alarms go off several times a month. Many are for«planned inspections» which are obtrusive, often with no more than 1 day notice. Occasionally, the alarm goes off in the middle of the night(I have videographic evidence of this).
