Coworkers were ordering food and since I had not eaten Thai in a while, decided to gamble. Read the mixed reviews online and was a bit cautions. Thai chicken wings were very flavorful. Drunken noodles combination was ahmmmmazing. Next time I will try the mango with sticky rice and masamun curry…

First time trying out this place. Was craving for thai food and this place is across the street from where I’m staying«holiday inn». So I thought I would give it a try. Food: I had the Shrimp Tom Yum soup. The flavor was ok but I wish it was a bit more sour. I also had the green curry with chicken. The flavor was decent but for the price $ 7.95 for a small(pint) i would like to have more than 2 pieces of chicken in my order.

Went to this place with expectations that it would be and average run of the mill small Thai takeout place. Boy was I wrong! The young woman at the counter helped me choose the Thai curry chicken with regular heat. The flavor of the chicken was delicious and the sauce was great. Maybe next time I will be a bit more adventurous and get the hot. I also go the beef salad which was one of the best that I’ve had. Definitely will be one of my go to places in the future.

Depending on when you go your service might be iffy. I love the Thai food here. So far I’ve had the tom yum, pad Thai, whole fish, green chicken curry and I think they all taste great! I’ve seen their lunch be to box which looks pretty cool too. It’s random because it’s right next to the strip club but if you’re ever craving Thai you should def check it out!

The Food: This place is the perfect example of why I rarely go into depth about the food at an establishment when writing a review because the opinions are so different that they have a neutralizing effect and you wind up having to try the food for yourself anyway. The reviews I read said this place gave large servings at a cheap price, well I found the servings small and a bit pricey. The Service: The fair skinned bespectacled young woman who we dealt with was definitely not from Thailand, more like South Baltimore. I won’t mention her name because it’s my policy never to do that unless they are wearing a publicly displayed name tag, which makes them fair game. And although she was pleasant, she is the reason I had to deduct a star, when are servers going to learn that using the phrase«Here you go» instead of «Thank You» when handing back a customer’s change or CC is just horrible sales etiquette. And I bet you didn’t know that at McDonald’s, use of that term to many times is deemed an offense for which one can be terminated. During our dining time here, the woman used that same phrase a couple of other times, even though we purposely left an awkward silence, or pregnant pause if you will, to see if she would fill in the gap with thanks, I’ll be right back, or something to that effect, but nope it never happend. However, she had no problem saying«Your Welcome» after WE took the initiative and said Thank You. And the whole time I’m screaming in my mind… NO. NO honey, it’s supposed to work the other way, we are the paying customers. Now, of course, I don’t know our servers pay grade, but in general, If servers want to make a minimum base pay of $ 15 an hour, as they are demanding, they should at least take the time to learn the intricacies of their craft. The Experience: The place is very small, and to get to the bathroom you have to virtually go around the counter and thru the kitchen, and because it’s so tiny all of the other patrons can probably hear you pee or whatever else you are doing in there. Final Summation: I doubt if we will come back here again, but it’s not because of the bathroom or the service, it’s simply because the food wasn’t that good, or at least not at the price we paid. Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps.

This place is unbeatably cheap for lunch! And just like any self-respecting Thai place peddling a lunch special, your portions will be a surprise of the good variety. Rice, Egg Rolls and Soup come with the special. Their Panang Curry is not quite as thick or silky as I like it, but there were no huge blunders in the food flavorwise.

My boyfriend and I have gotten take out from here a couple times now and have never been disappointed. He’s a huge fan of the duck drunken fried rice and I like the pad see ew with shrimp. The pad see ew’s noodles were tasty and thick, and the shrimp was surprisingly very seasoned and well-cooked. The place is a little hole in the wall, but does have some character in its décor. There’s a neat fish tank to check out, though no one generally seems to be actually sitting in to eat. More of as a take out vibe. The service is incredible — very nice and helpful staff who have given us honest recommendations and helped answer our myriad of questions. Very affordable for dinner, provides large portions, and a wide range of options. We will definitely be back, I will update as we try new things!

Round two with Thai Elephant Wok. Called in an order for delivery. I was quoted 30 – 45 minutes, but I was pleasantly surprised when order was delivered in around 20 minutes. This is the first time I have found a good Thai place that also serves sticky rice. My favorite with curry. I ordered a small green curry with chicken and sticky rice, small drunken noodles with shrimp, and a small pad thai with chicken for my daughter. It was a lot more food than I anticipated. They are consistent in the green curry, just as amazing as the first time. The drunken noodles were perfection with a ton of perfectly cooked vegetables and a lot of fresh basil. My daughter enjoyed her pad thai and some sticky rice. Wish we had this place back home. I’d definitely be a regular.

Ok last time I was in Baltimore I ate here and was amazed. Service is amazing. It’s a small hole in the wall with about six tables, but that’s where the best places live. I had Green Curry Chicken and it was like heaven. If you love Thai food this is a do not miss located half a block from the Marriott Inr Harbor. I’m taking a little Green Fried Rice mmmmm.

This restaurant is the same as the one that was located in Fells Point. They have moved to this location. Still great food and still great owners!

I had drunken noodle and Tom kha. Drunken noodle was really great. Tom Kha was okay. Portion size is incredibly worth it. I got the small for lunch, I don’t think I could eat the large. I’m 6’4″ 240. I’d order the noodles again, but probably skip the soup. Is it spicy? Not really. But, there are pepper trays on the table so you can heat it up to your desired level. I like things spicy. From the kitchen, it’s about a mild/medium. Looks to be some roasted red pepper. 3 stars cause customer service wasn’t the best. The girl was more concerned with her texting rather than asking me if I was gonna eat here or take it to go. I sat down to eat here and she never offered a water or anything to drink. I had to get up and ask. Which isn’t beneath me at all. I would just expect to be offered a drink if I’m dining somewhere. Footnote: they don’t have a garbage can inside for the customer. You’ve got to throw things away in the public trash outside along the street.

First time at Elephant Wok today. Very small and busy place at lunchtime. Have a reasonably priced lunch menu. Had the summer roll with peanut sauce, delicious. Ordered the lunch special Thai basil with tofu extra spicy. It took almost 20 minutes to come but was well worth the wait! The flavors were fantastic, the food was hot and they made it spicy as requested. The onions and peppers were cooked buy still retained their crunch, can’t stand mushy veggies. The tofu was cooked perfectly as well. The waitress was busy as she could be but very pleasant. I will return as this one of the best Thai places I’ve been in a very long time!!!

I was first put off by the negative reviews but I’m glad I went. Really enjoyed the food and the service was excellent! It’s probably mainly a takeout place since we were the only party during dinner time. I would recommend giving it a try.

My friend and I were excited that there was a Thai restaurant within walking distance of UMB so after a final we decided to grab carryout. We both ordered drunken noodles(mine with beef and hers with tofu), but they were pretty gross. We both ate a couple bites of it and just decided to toss it. The noodles were congealed together and didn’t have enough sauce. Also the beef was poor in quality and had no taste. The only reason I’m giving two stars as opposed to one is for the décor inside and the friendly service. It’s a lot nicer inside than an average carryout spot, with a fish tank inside and a few tables. Maybe they have better items on the menu, but based on the drunken noodles I won’t be returning. I think my standard for Thai in Baltimore will continue to be Thai Arroy in Fed Hill.

4 stars. I’ve been meaning to try this place since it is right around the corner from where I live. I ordered take out for dinner from here and had low expectations because of poor Unilocal ratings and how the exterior of the restaurant looked. However, I was happily surprised with decent food that was quickly prepared. Ordering and Pickup: I ordered over the phone. At first, I was confused by the«Thai Elephant Wok» in Fells and this place(not affiliated), but then realized these were actually two different places. After finding the right phone number, the process was fast and easy. A lady took my order and didn’t even ask for my name or phone number. She let me know that my order will be ready in 10 minutes. I was there within 10 minutes and the food was indeed ready. The restaurant didn’t look busy since no customers were eating(it was pretty late ~9pm). Food: I got the Pad Thai with Beef($ 9.95) and Green Curry with Chicken($ 9.95). I ordered everything extra spicy, since my wife and I love spicy food. The curry came with rice which was nice not needing to pay extra for. The Pad Thai with Beef was pretty good. It came with the proper peanuts, sprouts, and a lime. It also tasted decent, although it was sightly sweet. The noodles were cooked nicely as well and not too soft. The Green Curry with Chicken was above expectations. The proper flavors were all there, and it was spicy enough for me. The green beans were still crunchy which was nice. Overall: I came here expecting to be disappointed based on other reviews; however, after trying their food, I will be coming back. I really liked that they didn’t tone down the spices to western palates when I ordered extra spicy. Although their food might not have been the most authentic, they are close enough, and the convenience of being near home will bring me back. My only gripe would be that the prices were understandable but not cheap. Overall, I had enjoyed the food and will eat here again. Thai Elephant Wok blew my expectations out of the water and is just short of getting 5 stars if the Pad Thai wasn’t so sweet and prices a bit lower.

This is a small place at a convenient location that is one block north of the Convention Center. The lunch special is super good deal and the chef seems to prepare each dish fresh when you order. That’s why there is a bit of a wait of 10 – 15 min. There is also a long line of people waiting for To-Go orders that often times take up the seats & tables. It would be better if they dedicate some seats just for To-Go waiting customers. The curry is a big watery but flavorful. The lunch special comes with a vegetable soup that taste like diluted soy sauce. I would highly recommend the Tom Yum soup that you can order separately for $ 2.95. The Thai Ice Tea is also delicious at only $ 1.75! From someone traveling here from Southern California and a Thai Food enthusiast, i will give this place a 5 star. The wait is a bit long but it’s because they are under staffed with only 1 person… so it’s understandable… I am happy to find such a great Thai restaurant in downtown Baltimore.

Got a certificate for this place that we had to spend $ 50 for. We couldn’t find a menu online, so we weren’t sure what the menu was like beforehand. We found out pretty quickly that two people definitely do not need $ 50 to eat here. Two soft drinks, two appetizers, a soup, two large entrees with meat and two desserts. Still not $ 50, and we had plenty of leftovers to take home. They were out of the Thai iced tea, so I settled for regular bottled iced tea. We started with the calamari and fried tofu. The calamari was fine, but the tofu tasted like tofu. Tofu isn’t supposed to taste like tofu! Our dinners were pretty good — a bit oily, but the drunken noodle with chicken was what I expected. I tried a soup as well, which would have been fine, but it contained lettuce. Lettuce in soup does not work well! After picking out the lettuce though, the soup was very flavorful, and I would get it again. But one entre was too much for a single person — we had tons of leftovers! Since we still had money to burn, we got two desserts — fried bananas and sticky rice with mango. We shared the rice and took home the bananas for later. The bananas didn’t hold up well after a day — but they probably would have been fine if we had eaten them fresh. The mango rice was just alright. Instead of being soaked in the milk, the milk was poured over the rice. I mixed it in, but would have preferred it being a little more sticky. I’m debating between 2&3 stars here — the service was terrible but the food was ok. We tried a few different things, but they are fairly new, so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt here. I’d probably just get takeout next time.

I’ve had the pad thai, steamed fish, and thai iced tea here. The pad thai is on par with your average Thai take-out joint: dry and slightly bland, but adequate to satisfy a craving for pad thai. The steamed fish is spiced nicely but the fish itself resembles the frozen and dry tilapia fillets from the Costco freezer. I was expecting the fish to be more fresh. The thai iced tea was on point — flavorful without being too sweet or creamy. I had actually initially ordered the thai iced coffee, but at 1:30pm, it was already sold out. The ambiance is slightly more upscale than the average Thai takeout joint — the combination of mahogany-colored walls and indoor plants lends an inviting atmosphere that would be conducive to dining in. The friendly staff was happy to answer all the questions I had, as well as provide table service if my friends and I had chosen to dine in. In summary, Thai Elephant Wok is a welcome addition to the downtown area near Camden Yards and the University of Maryland campus. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here unless I have an irresistible craving for Thai food. For tastier, fresh, and higher quality Thai food, I will still frequent Thai Arroy in Fed Hill which remains the gold standard for Thai food in downtown Baltimore at a slightly more expensive price.

This was a perfect addition to downtown Baltimore. I had the Pad Thai and papaya salad. The Pad Thai wasn’t great, a little mushy, but portions were pretty good. The papaya salad doesn’t taste like what I’m normally used to, but it’s still very satisfying. Oh, and a tip on the spice, it is a Thai place, and they do not joke around.(As I eat my medium spicy level papaya salad, my mouth is on fire and I may or may not be breathing fire, and I normally eat very spicy foods.) The staff is very friendly. Be patient, as the cashier/waiter seems to not know very much English. Definitely will be a regular here!

Elephant Wok is pretty much what you’d want in any take out place. The staff is polite, the food is good, and the small interior is nice to look at. The menu is many pages, checking off standard Thai takeout needs(pad thai, curries, pineapple rice, ect.). They also offer standard Chinese takeout options. For dining in, there’s 6 small tables. I arrived at the start of the lunch rush so my order was slower than I’d like, but no worse than you’d expect. I can’t think of any major complaints, other than I couldn’t find their website or number to call ahead. Hopefully by adding that info to Unilocal,no one will face my issues. I expect this to be my «go-to» for take-out near UMB/Inner Harbor.
