*sigh* first off, let me start by saying that the food is a 5-star, most definitely. However, this will be my 3rd time visiting(and giving my hard earned cash) to Taste This and me feeling less than welcome by their front end staff. I’m really big on customer service, and if I don’t feel welcomed in your establishment, I will not feel inclined to return, even if the food is great. And it’s sad that such a great establishment should have something as basic as customer service be a deterrent for guests such as myself, but guest services in the hospitality industry is just as important as the product itself. I really hope that this isn’t a habit for you guys, because if so, I unfortunately will not be back.

I’ve made a few more trips to Taste on 25th. The wing platter was slamming. The chicken was well seasoned and I left off the rice(which is no longer salty :-))) since I had the mac & cheese. The place was busy but the counter staff handled it well. NOW the for the pièce de résistance …the egg nog bread pudding!!! OMG Get down there and grab a slice before it’s off the menu. This location is doing a great job and I’ll keep you posted as I work my way through the menu.

Had a friend ask me about this place just because they know that I love good food. I had never heard of it. While he was on the phone I was doing my Unilocal search. I called to see if they accepted card payment and the answer was yes. It was on and popping. I placed my order over the phone and I was told 20 minutes til pickup. Great. I left my job and went to pick it up. It was ready maybe 10 minutes after I arrived. Let’s just say when I returned to work I had one hell of a mouth party. I ordered the hennessy wings which came with rice that had red and green peppers in it. Let me tell you simply delicious. I ordered a side of collard greens and macaroni and cheese just to taste them also. I will tell you one thing– I was disappointed in no way.

The only thing stopping me from giving them 5 stars was the customer service… When i pulled up there was an associate sweeping the front and he was very pleasant. I just knew walking in the service would be great… not so much. I was a little confused coming into the place and searched around for menu. It took a couple of minutes before someone came and handed me one. not a big deal. However as i searched through the menu and tried to decide another cashier came and she wasn’t very pleasant. Her attitude made me feel unwelcome. I was honestly going to leave but i decided to just take the food to go. I’m glad i decided to order. I ordered the Taste This Spiced Chicken and by the picture you can tell it was so good i forgot to snap a picture of it. Taste This Spiced Chicken was a smothered chicken breast with yellow rice underneath. I ordered mac and cheese and collard greens as well. It was all delicious and filling. I just wished the customer service was up to par. If it wasn’t for the unpleasant cashier, i probably would have ordered more to take back home(since i’m not from the area). Only advice to business is customer service goes a long way.

This place is on my top three must eat soul food restaurants in Baltimore. I had the smothered pork chops, mac & cheese, and cabbage. Absolutely delicious. Wait time and prices are reasonable and food was hot.

I’ve had food from the Harford Road location so I was excited to see that a local business was doing well enough to open up another, bigger location. After coming from a show at the Lyric, we were all hungry and decided to stop at the new Taste This location. Upon walking in, there was a bit of a line, but we waited anyway. The staff member who took our order wasn’t the friendliest. We realized we both had cards to pay for our food, but she told us she could split the bill. Nope… wasn’t even close to being split equally. After that, we went to sit in the dining area. It’s not a huge space, but it’s cute(although I would suggest some type of blinds or something for when the sun is beaming through the large windows). I believe there was about four tables with chairs and some counter height seating. The dining area also had a tv on the wall as well as music playing(not loudly; but just enough so you could hear it). Most things seem to be cooked to order, so if you’re on a time crunch make sure you call your order in ahead of time. Once the number for our order is called, I go back up to the counter to get our food. She opened up each container to let me see everything. I realized at that point that she rang up crab fries instead of regular fries(I didn’t check the receipt when I originally placed the order so that was my fault). No apology or anything. I opted to just order the regular fries since they were for the kids. I waited for a while for the number to be called for the fries, but never heard one. I started thinking«how long does it take to make fries?» I sent one of the kids up to check on the status… of course, the fries were already done. Not sure why the number was never called. Everything above is why I deducted a star… and I probably would have deducted another star had I not seen that the other staff member on the frontline was much more friendly and personable. Now, the food? One word: Awesome! Like, as I’m sitting here writing this review I WISH I has some more, good! Greens were great! I had to add pepper to the Mac and Cheese, but otherwise, still really good. The Hennessy Salmon??? The absolute best part of the meal! I will probably venture back in sometime soon to try some other items… and hopefully when I return, the customer service will be up to par.

I can’t review the food because when I went they didn’t have some of the items on the menu. We weren’t greeted when we walked in. Kinda rude but Not that serious. They have a menu on the tvs but it only showed specialty potatoes and breakfast. Kind of a red flag but we asked for a paper menu anyway. We took a few seconds to look over the menu and decided what we wanted. We stood in front of the register for five mins waiting to place an order. There were two people up the front when we got there. The person working the register(more like iPad) was looking past us and walking around instead of letting us place an order. She walked back to the front and asked the guy behind me if he wanted some drinks. After she got him the drinks THEN she asked if we wanted to order. My fiancé asked for the Hennessey salmon and they didn’t have Hennessey. We could have ordered something else but her demeanor put me off. As much as I want to return to actually buy something I can’t. I refuse to purchase food from a place with bad service on the front line. Maybe it’ll get better after they have been open for a little bit longer but nah… No thanks.

Anybody who even remotely knows me knows that when it comes to food and adult beverages my 2 Favs are a giant piece of Salmon and a room temp shot of Hennessey Cognac, preferably XO when I’ve had a good week, so imagine my pure climatic joy when I stumbled upon this restaurant that has managed to find a way to combine the 2 into a meal, and at a reasonable price to boot. This establishment is everything the previous tenant in this space was not, I.e. courteous service, reasonable pricing, large portions, uniformed staff members, and above all just darn good food, although I did not care much for the barbecue chicken. The ordering process is smooth and well organized, and you are thanked for your purchase. There is also a tip jar which I highly believe in because it incentivises associates to give better service as well as give the patron a more concrete opportunity to show appreciation and earn a reputation amongst the staff as being a customer that will take care of you for a job well done. On my latest visit, my companion and I choose to eat in the dining area which is well appointed and deceivingly has more space than it appears from the outside. And here at least as far as I’m concerned is where a bit of history took place, let me explain, my companion has a strictly enforced rule that no electronic devices be utilized on any of our dates, her reasoning the way she has explained it to me, is that remaining«plugged in» is not only bad dating etiquette but also shows a lack of interest. Well, imagine my absolute shock when she whipped out her phone and actually snapped a picture of her meal, something that in 2 years I have never, ever seen her do. It happened so quickly that I even convinced her to take a second picture just so I could get a picture of her taking a picture! She explained that the plated presentation was very attractive and that the very odd color of the rice reminded her of her favorite crayon [Mango Tango] Now if that isn’t a sho~nuff testimonial to how great this little joint is then I really don’t know what else to tell you! Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps.
