(8÷21÷2015) New vendor(to me) in the spot where Margarita’s Latin foods used to be. Greek specialties and a couple of interesting random things(potato bar and sweet crepes). Lamb Gyro was pretty decent for $ 6. Was the pressed meat that you see in pretty much every Greek takeout place around town, well-seasoned(a touch too much salt), decent amount of meat in a soft, warm pita. Pita itself sprinkled with seasoned salt. Garnish was diced tomatoes and sliced red onion; tzatziki was thick and fresh. I like a little greens myself on a gyro, but you could get the platter and have a side salad if you want some veg. Traveled well on the metro, still warm 3 stops later. Grape leaves were obviously from canned, the rice only(no meat) variety, but lemon slice and the fact that they weren’t stone cold were nice touches.

First time I got their spinach pie and spinach rice. I think that was too much spinach for one day. The pie was good and crust was crispy. The spinach rice had a lot of spinach. I liked the food and the service was friendly. I also got their kebab platter and it was very good with pita bread, tomatoes and fries. Their fries are cut, fried and seasoned nicely. I would definitely try more of their menu items. I also placed a catering order with them and it was a favorite among the guests. I think the owner stayed open late to accommodate the pick up so that was nice. Thank you! Rest of the staff is also very nice and welcoming. It’s always nice to know when your business is appreciated.

I briefly worked in a Greek restaurant one summer, and I think I can judge Greek food pretty well after that. The dolmathes are ridiculously fresh-tasting. The leaves are moist and so is the filling. The gyros are solid. I tried their spanakopita and it too was reasonably well-made. They sometimes have specials during the week like braised lamb shank or stuffed peppers. It’s worth a try here in the market if you’re at Hopkins — far better than anything you get in the cafeteria there! Prices are fair. Staff is friendly.

This is a new stall at Northeast Market. What I appreciate is that it’s owned by legitimate Greek folks that have a genuine appreciation for Greek food. I’ve gotten the pork gyro a few times now, and it’s been pretty satisfying each time. The pork is well marinated and juicy, and the tsatziki sauce finishes it off well. For $ 5, it’s a great deal and they’re pretty generous with their meat. I’ve also had their crêpe, which was made on the spot with nutella and bananas. It was made fresh on the spot with homemade batter and topped with powdered sugar. They also offer other traditional dishes, like avgolemono soup and hefty spinach pies. Overall a pretty solid place for the market.
