Restaurant Week Tuna Nori Salad — the sauce on the tuna and seaweed is fantastic. I love the refreshing flavor. Black peppered tuna– sauce is similar to the tuna nori salad. Seared. Delicious. Blossom roll– mango sauce is not too sweet which is perfect for the fish Volcanoe Roll– I can see how others like this but personally too creamy for me and I like my fish raw. Rock mountain roll– the crab cake flavor is a good mix with the crunch rice but again too creamy for my liking. Rolls look huge! Spicy tuna crunch roll– portion is meh. Lacks spicy kick or crunch. The desserts are nothing amazing. I like the red bean mochi more than the tempura cheesecake. I’m not if I’d come here if it wasn’t restaurant week, but what would bring me back is the nori salad.

Food is great, prices are reasonable and they marked the boxes with people’s names when asked. THANKYOU! Makes divvying out lunch to an office full of people a lot easier.

Poor sushi but great udon! The sushi pieces are tiny and not that fresh(especially the fried ones with tempura). The service, however, is great. There was no wait on a Saturday night and the food came out fast!

One of my favorite sushi places to go to in Fed, Rocky Mountain Roll is absolutely delicious and more than worth it.

Ordered chicken catsu curry. Due to a lacking amount of curry sauce, weird lima beans, and way too much chicken(as compared to Japanese curry I’ve ate in Japan), I give the rating of «meh». Would give 2.5 stars if possible. Will continue my search for true Japanese curry in the DC/BALT region…

For Federal Hill sushi lunch specials, Matsuri is a decent choice with quite a few options on their menu. It’s a small place, so you may need to wait a bit for a table if you’re at a peak time. I put my order in, and waited a while as they prepared it — lots and lots of takeout orders flying out the door! I had the crispy spicy roll combo, which was spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and spicy yellowtail served with miso soup. I couldn’t entirely detect the«crispy» part of any of the rolls, but they were well-rolled and tasted pretty fresh. Still a little oily for my taste(especially compared to the Sushi Hana locations and the Edo Sushi locations), but a good value. One star off because I had to ask three times to get a water refilled — come on guys, details!

10÷16÷15 Yummy! Matsuri is the closest sushi place to our new place. So, when I came home exhausted from work and craving sushi, Matsuri is where I headed. The bottom level was busy and full but we were quickly ushered upstairs to a pretty dining room with some traditional floor seating and some standard table and chairs seating. Our waiter gave us menus then disappeared. and kept disappearing throughout the rest of our evening. Very Slowly we were brought warm sake, miso soup, our sushi rolls as he continuously descending the stairs. The table next to us received all parts of their meals before we even got our soups. However, The food speaks for itself. The fish was fresh; the rolls very tasty. lots of different options but everything we had was delicious. So I’ll be back… and who knows, maybe the next time we will have better service.

I came to Matsuri on a Friday night around 8 and we were seated at the sushi bar; it was pretty busy. The speciality rolls were quite good, I got the shrimp tempura roll with avocado and there was tuna and salmon on top. The spicy salmon roll with cucumber was also pretty good. The hurricane roll came with lobster salad, avocado, white tuna with crispy tempura flakes on top — that was delicious. The service was efficient and quick so that was a plus. We split the bill and the gentleman who took our bill split it wrong and charged us more, but it was remedied quickly and we were provided void slips. Not a bad place to go if you’re craving some sushi!

Been here several times and I ordered the Gyoza dumpling ramen soup. The dumplings were fried. I was expecting them to be steamed. The soup was on the salty side. I don’t recommend this dish.

I went here for my birthday with my family and I was very pleased! We were sat upstairs and everything was pretty quiet. I was worried at first from the reviews that upstairs service would be slower but I don’t think it was, we were served water within the first 5 minutes of being sat. The miso soups and appetizers came promptly afterwards and we really weren’t left hungry at anytime. The sushi was delicious. We tried among others the Orioles roll which was very spicy. The ocean breeze was my favorite. They also gave me green tea mochi ice cream for my birthday which was really good! It seems like a family owned restaurant and the atmosphere felt very nice.

It was a while ago that I went for Restaurant Week. My boyfriend and I both paid $ 30 for their special menu. For appetizers we got the salmon sashimi salad and fried Calamari, probably the best part of the meal. The restaurant week options were mostly cooked or fried sushi items. Having one or two pieces is more than enough; the rolls were good, but heavy, creamy, fried and salty. Even though some fried sushi is okay, I think they over-did it. Their only dessert options were fried cheesecake and mochi. We tried both and they were okay. In general I would say the food wasn’t great, but the place is in a nice location and the décor is nice as well. Service was a bit slow. I would try this place again to see if the food is any different in their regular menu.

I’ve had lunch in this restaurant for the first time. After reading such great reviews from Unilocal and opentable, I was excited to visit. Ordered restaurant week $ 15 three-course menu. Miso soup, Salad Chicken Katsu Curry, 2 rolls Fried banana and mochi ice cream. Wait time was a bit long. Food was served at the same time as other table who came about 10m later. Their food is plenty. We left some rolls and much of rice. And… I don’t think i will go back for one reason. Food is too SALTY for my taste.

They put us on the 2nd floor and server didnt even bother to take an order. After waiting for 15+ min, we had to make a phone call for them to come up. Our server was very rude, it wasnt even busy and she took our order real quick and never came back to check back on us. Food was overall great. I ordered seafood ramen and some rolls, they were good. My girlfriend ordered restaurant week special stuff and they were good also. I dont normally leave reviews here but i had to do it this time so you guys dont have to go through what we went through today. Just stay away from the female server with glasses and you should be good. Oh, the server’s name was Ying

Consistency is king in the world of sushi and I can honestly say that this place has been consistently delicious! Lots baked sushi goodness! I don’t normally like te spicy mayo but the way they make it is incredible! Try the volcano, dynamic and veggie dynamite rolls… all 3 are awesome! I know what you’re thinking veggie roll?! Get real. No, trust me… that’s what I thought too, but it is worth it, your palate will thank you. The best time to go is happy hour: Monday-Friday 4:30 — 7:00 — same great sushi but for half the price!!! Best sushi in Baltimore.

Cute place in Federal Hill. Excellent happy hour with a huge menu including dessert. I had baked sushi for the first time, which was a first for me. Seating is cozy but cute.

I have had the seaweed salad, bento box, and chirashi bowl here. The seaweed salad is small, but a delicious appetizer. The bento box is a great deal for lunch, and the chirashi is pretty good too. It comes in square bowl with sashimi, sometimes roe, and sometimes egg on top of sushi rice. It also comes with a bowl of miso soup. The service is good and there is surprisingly ample seating(2 floors)!

I’m pretty loyal to another sushi spot not too far from here, but Matsuri’s was a nice change of pace for when I want to try several different rolls during happy hour. My two friends and I came on a weekday night for happy hour and were really happy with the large selection of rolls, drinks and appetizers that they had on special ranging from $ 2-$ 7. We started off with drinks. I had the lycheetini and it was really good! It even came with a lychee inside. We then ordered fried gyoza and an assortment of rolls — the Orioles roll, tempura yam, ocean breeze roll, etc. The gyoza were fried perfectly and tasted great. The Orioles roll was my favorite! It was a spicy tuna roll with avocado and topped with salmon and spicy tuna. It’s normally $ 12 on the regular menu but during HH it’s only $ 7. Even though our food tasted delicious, customer service wasn’t all that great. Our waiter seemed annoyed every time we tried to order something. Also, when I asked him to bring waters for our table he only brought one. As far parking, Matsuri offers the first hour free at the West Street Garage.

I could probably eat a large, scratch that, a tub of that salad as long as it has that ginger dressing. I love that dressing, but it’s a good thing they don’t give me a tub, otherwise I wouldn’t have room for the other two delicious items I tried. Here’s a creative and outstanding flavor dish to try. It wasn’t on the menu, but you can still order it, the Beef Negamaki. Basically it’s similar to a sushi roll concept, but instead of seaweed as the wrap, it’s a grilled steak. The steak is thinly cut and grilled with a great charred flavor. The char along with the sauce, you get crispy, tangy, smokey, sweet. What a combination! Get it if you can. I’m starting to slow down and realize I’m be taking some home. However, that doesn’t stop me. I dive into the Chicken and Calamari Bento Box. The chicken is cooked excellent, grilled just enough for that extra flavor, tender, and still juicy. Add the sauce and you unconsciously have a smile on your face. You move to the calamari, the smile gets bigger. The breading is crunchy and delicious, calamari is tender, and the sauce makes you go mmmmmm. Not that I had any room, but I have to try the dumplings right? Crunch, great crispy shell, excellent filling, then once again the sauce, oh boy. I was very happy for lunch and since I couldn’t eat it all, I was very happy for a snack later, and dinner.

Dinner for one this evening :) Got the Bento box. The tempura shrimp and veggies were very good and the spicy tuna was average. The amount of food was good, however i didn’t think my whole bill was a bit on the pricey side. I enjoyed my Lychee saki-tini as well. I would say I would come here again if I were in the area again for work.
