An order of fried chicken livers, fish and collards — not exactly something my gastroenterologist nor nutritionist would recommend, but when you’re mom says its the best in the neighborhood, you just gotta at least, give it a try. The positives first — the price made my wallet happy and the portion size was not in the least bit stingy. The fish was meaty and the coating, a nicely seasoned cornmeal. The only redeeming factor for the chicken livers, was the barely there, crisp breading, which made you wanna chow on them like popcorn. The livers themselves, though, were over cooked, dry and downright grosse. The collards were dull in flavor. I’ll have to enlighten mom, and find her something worth raising her cholesterol count; this isn’t it.

Really nothing special. The place was clean, which is good for the area its in. Staff was OK. Food was eh. Nothing that has me wanting to go back. A little too much salt and the batter was a little too dry for me. I had got lake trout & chicken for $ 8.99 which is an okay price for the quantity, I just did not care for the quality, and I am not picky at all.

This is probably one of the most unhealthy places to eat at next to McDonald’s, However, you’re you’re a fan of grease, salt, etc. then you’ll love this place. I come here very sparingly when my family wants this place because the food is undoubtedly good.

If you go you are better off with the chicken tenders than the chicken by the piece which tends to be dry. The fish however is always good and flavorful especially the catfish.

I ordered a combo of pick two for $ 8.99. Catfish nuggets and chicken tenders, it comes with fries and coleslaw and two pieces of white bread. The owner was very nice. It wasn’t a long wait and I took my order to go. I thought that the bag was a little heavy and when I opened it up, I almost died! These were truly American portions! There had to be enough food in that jam packed full box to feed two or three people easy! I really enjoyed the catfish nuggets. I also ordered a side of hush puppies and they were great. I’m still amazed at how much food they give you!

Never had a piece of chicken that was seasoned well that I didn’t like… Lol! Okay… I was their second customer today, their Grand Opening and the chicken and catfish nuggets were not only seasoned well but they were not overcooked. Let’s see if in a month’s time, if they’ll make it a habit of changing their cooking oil at regular intervals so that the food stays fresh tasting. The Manager was very friendly and engaging and even funny when I let him know that people have been waiting for this store to open since the early part of 2012. He said, «Yeah, so were we… since June 2012». People were getting tired of going all the way to Loch Raven and Taylor ever since the Harford Road store burned down. He also stated that the Harford Road store burning caused the set back. For those cautious about the use of salt as I am, you’ll be happy to know that this store uses NOSALT, they use a lemon pepper & herb blend on their food… Over all, Great Job… chicken was crisp and not over done. I love the use of the bread in the tray to absorb the grease, and the fries were really crispy on the outside and light on the inside.
