Dryland

Had my hair cut and colored here after my usual stylist moved away. I have long wavy hair that takes forever to color and even longer to cut and blow out. Amanda Mai did a great job and even improved on my color. Atmosphere was cute. Dryland will be my new salon.

I’ve been going here for about a year. I have A LOT of thick, mixed texture, very curly hair. Over the years many stylists have been immediately overwhelmed by my hair, but Lynnae was completely comfortable cutting and styling my hair. She showed me new tricks on managing my curls and given me the best blow outs I’ve ever gotten! Truly worth checking out.

I am so glad that I stumbled upon Dryland! I had a signature blowout with Amanda Mai and I was so happy with her work! I was nervous trying a new place before my engagement photos but Amanda and Dryland were the best possible choice! The atmosphere and service were fantastic. I have found my new go to spot!

I have lived in Canton my entire 25 years so I have tried many, many different stylists and hair salons in the area for blowouts/​curls/​updos and none can compare to Amanda at Dryland. Not to mention, the place itself is adorable and not overwhelmingly large or noisy. The windows are huge so you get beautiful lighting in the place. I’m SO glad I lucked into finding Amanda on Canton Neighbors FB page because honestly, when you spend money to have a one-​night hairstyle, you want to be blown away and not disappointed. And I always seem to be disappointed, wishing I hadn’t bothered getting it done, and I can say this was the first time I was blown away in canton. Plus, the service was SUPER reasonably priced. Win-​win-​WIN.

I went to DryLand for the first time today, for a partial highlight from Lynnae. Best experience I’ve had at a salon in a long time! Lynnae and all the ladies working there were welcoming and seemed appreciative to have me as a new client. Lynnae listened to what I wanted, made suggestions of her own, and ultimately did a beautiful color that I love! Honestly though, I’d go back JUST for the shampoo/​conditioner experience — Carlene (not sure of spelling) gives the most amazing scalp massage. A great neighborhood salon delivering gorgeous results. I will absolutely go back!

SUMMARY: Convenient location and cute salon — might not be right for all hair types. Still has scheduling bugs to work out.
FULL STORY:
I usually get a weekly blowout and was new to the area, so this was one salon I tried out. Only went once. A few thoughts below…
– Timing: My blow-​out appointment was at 6pm. I used the online booking system, which was convenient. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the salon at 6:05pm, the previous client was still having her hair washed!!! So my «6pm» appointment got started right before 7pm. Luckily I wasn’t in a rush at all, so I waited… but be cautious about booking here if you’re on any kind of schedule. You might be delayed without any notice.
– Staffing: There was only 1 stylist working on a weekday afternoon/​evening that particular day. I’m no math whiz, but scheduling might be a challenge if this happens often and 2+ people ever need their hair done…
– Salon: It’s cute and seemed clean enough. But something was wrong with the electricity while I was there — lights were on and blow-​dryers were working, but A/​C wasn’t on in the summer. (It had been raining earlier that day, so something was probably up with lines or the power company? We weren’t sure at the time). They are also doing building renovation, so half of the salon is in serious construction mode and maybe that had something to do with it.
– Style: The blow-​out itself wasn’t awful, but wasn’t as professional or shiny as I look for at a salon, and definitely required some ironing to get the texture smoother. A little better than what I can do at home. (Granted, it had been raining earlier that day, but I’ve had some seriously outstanding, silky blowouts at other places in DC and Baltimore since then, even in rainy/​humid weather).
– Price: One other thing to be aware of is that the booking prices stated on the site based on each specific service/​stylist are just a starting point — for example my blowout on just-​below-​the-​shoulders hair (most blowouts for me take 35 min) was going to be $ 50 next time. That’s one of the highest prices I’ve ever been quoted in Baltimore, for, unfortunately, not one of the best blowouts.
Note: Couldn’t accept any credit cards the evening I was there, but seemed like it was only because of the? partial power issue.

I saw Amanda Mai and she was amazing! What a beautiful little salon. I was so very happy with the color and style. I have found my new hair home! I highly recommend this salon.

I have seen both Lynnae and Amanda. They both do a fantastic job on hair.
Lynnae is a master with the color. I had a color tragedy and she helped make it look natural and healthy again. I definitely recommend her. She listens to what you want, but also makes recommendations since she is the expert which is important. Trust me — she knows what looks good on you.
Now I mostly see Amanda. She is amazing with color as well. I described what I wanted and I got just that at the end of the process. I have gotten high-​lights and low-​lights twice by Amanda and have LOVED LOVED LOVED my hair after the appointment. It looks so natural — which is always what I go for. I also asked her opinion on what colors match my skintone and have been incredibly happy with the results. She knows what she is doing!
I fully recommend this salon.

Bottom line– Lynnae knows hair. Im confident that she wouldnt hire other stylists that werent just as good at what they do. I started going here just for highlights but now i go for cuts, color and treatments. Lynnae uses almost 10 different colors to get my highlights just right and completely natural looking. I dont find their prices to be any higher than anywhere else in the city. I wont go anywhere else. Book online early, shes in high demand!

Lynnae is awesome and sweet. She always takes the time to give me styling tips and hair «dos and donts». She has a really great eye, and gives recommendations on what she thinks will look best on me. I also find her prices to be very reasonable. Love the convenience of online booking too.

Lynnae is amazing! She knows what she’s talking about and cares about your hair. I completely recommend her to anyone searching for someone to take care of your hair and not just moving on to the next client.

Lynnae is excellent! My mother has been getting her curly hair cut and colored by Lynnae for almost 10 years and she does a fantastic job with curly hair. I have straight hair and went to Lynnae to cut 10 inches off to donate. She gave me an excellent hair cut with the hair I had left. She talked to me of what kind of style I wanted and she looked and. executed exactly what I wanted from the pictures of hair cut ideas that I brought to her. Her salon is very clean with a fun beachy theme so you can relax as well. Her prices are so reasonable with the quality of expertise she offers. DryLand is right by the Boh Tower and there is public parking on the streets surrounding the salon. Easy to get in and out. Go to DryLand!

I recently moved to the Baltimore area, and struggled to find a new hair salon. I am SO happy that I found Lynnae at Dryland Salon! At my first visit, my wavy/​curly hair was severely damaged from color and heat. After just two visits, over the past few months, I have seen such a change in my hair. Lynnae was able to cut and color my hair perfectly, and was able to provide advice for how I should treat my hair inbetween visits to ensure that it would get healthy again. The salon itself is beautiful, and I would highly recommend Dryland for any of your hair needs!

I rarely review hairstylists because I’m rarely pleased but Dryland deserves some notoriety. My appointment was with Lynnae who I «heard» was great with curly hair. Was not disappointed. What I appreciated about her is that she listens. I wanted to keep my length, but also wanted movement. And my list is checked. After she finished the blow out I wanted some more cut. I told her I would come back another time but she insisted to do it. That’s great because all of my hair took forever and she was so patient and willing to make me happy. Great customer service. Cute décor. Easy easssyyyy online schedule system. Affordable prices. Prompt appointment time. I will be back and I will recommend Dryland based on my experience as a curly girl.
