Dogma – life, with your pet

This was my first time into this store. IT IS amazing. Tons of toys for dogs that are well made. A portion of the purchase price of a large majority of the toys… goes towards helping homeless and less fortunate animals. The staff are SO friendly, and the toys are very well made. Love supporting local small businesses.

Been taking our Miniature Schnauzers to Dogma [first, Butchers Hill; now, Fort McHenry Row] since it opened. Too bad Linda had to leave for greener pastures — she is the best, and kindest, groomer we have had in 13 years. Love the staff in all of the stores. Too bad the co-​owner in the Fort McHenry Row store gets such a bad rap. Thankfully, I have only had to deal with him once, in all these years. The other two co-​owners are very nice people.

Dogma rules! Everyone is always so friendly here and they carry good food brands, even some raw frozen food.

So cute! Dogma has everything you need for your best friend, and if they don’t have it they will try their best to order it for you!
This store is the only store nearby that has Fromm dog food so that is why I began coming here.
Their toy selection is great, as well as their grooming supplies and services down to their accessories.
SERVICE– The customer service is great! I am always greeted with a smile. There is usually a tall, thin, young gentleman that waits on me.
Sometimes there is a young lady and another guy short with dark hair, all very helpful but not as nice and willing to go above and beyond as the other gentleman.
I do realize y’all are not veterinarians, so having the answers to all of my questions is not possible but your employees have yet to disappoint.
I think service is the key to any successful business. This young man is definitely an asset to the business. Very efficient and polite, finding young kids who speak to you and look you in the eye is very hard to find now a days.

While I can’t claim to have actually been in the store, this review is for the customer service I received from Jeff the store manager at Dogma. A few days before Christmas, I realized I hadn’t gotten a gift for a dear friend of mine who lives in Federal Hill. I wanted to get him something for his dog, but with me living in California, I wasn’t quite sure how to make it happen. I found Dogma on Unilocal and called them to see if they would send him a gift certificate for me.
Not only did Jeff indicate that they would do the gift certificate, he said he would hand-​deliver it to my friend’s home before Christmas — no problem.
After his first attempt to deliver it, Jeff called me to let me know that he was unable to connect with my friend, and asked if I would like him to try again the next day. Shocked, I said you really don’t have to — he again said no problem. So, I said sure if you are willing…
Well, the next day my friend called and thanked me for the gift card and said he and his dog were surprised and very much looking forward to heading over to the store.
Thanks Jeff and Dogma! I hope my friend and his dog enjoy the store as much as I appreciate the service you provided me.

My dog loves going here, but that’s the only real reason I stop by. The staff are condescending, particularly the owner who has no idea how overpriced his wares are, nor any idea how their biggest competitor, Amazon, even functions. This store charges an incredibly high premium, but doesn’t stand by their products. The least you can do if charging 5x Amazon rate for a toy, have the policy to replace a tug toy that rips after 1 tug (and no, my dog isn’t large, and isn’t an aggressive player/​chewer). Just to give an example of the outrageous costs, I went to purchase a Furminator tool. Dogma charge $ 80 plus tax for it, while the exact item is available on Amazon, prime shipping, for $ 13. I explained this to the owner when I was so surprised at such a large markup. I’m willing to pay 20% or so above for convenience, but really, I can wait 2 days for an item like this to be mailed to my door. The owner had no idea that Amazon would ship to my door, would only take two days, and would, even without the student membership I already have, only cost $ 3.99 shipping. He was completely rude to me, and told me I didn’t know what I was talking about because the Furminator is a TOOL, not just a BRUSH. I told him I understand what it is, which is why I’m buying it in the first place, just, now, not from Dogma.

Prices are high and they don’t carry my dog’s brand of food. Other than that, I would be 100% on board. Best of all, in my opinion, the staff are incredibly resourceful. Anytime I have a question, I go straight to Dogma. Need a beef-​free, grain-​free, long-​lasting dog treat? Found it! Need a daily dental chew to stuff into a medium size kong? Found it! Need something to settle my dog’s acidic stomach? Found it! I’ve been to a number of other pet stores in town, and Dogma seriously has the best staff. They have saved my sanity a number of times. Thank you!

This store is great! It has a lot of cool stuff for your cats or dogs. What I usually go in for is the treats, dog food and the occasional harness upgrade for my shiba. Although the prices are a little higher than your average petco or petsmart, I still say this is a place worth checking out. Especially if you live in the city, it’s really convenient to just come here than to go out of the city to find a petco or petsmart.
They also have this buyers program for the instinct raw food packages. I forgot exactly how many you have to buy… I think it’s something like buy 12 and get your 13^th one free. Regardless, if you have your dog on instinct, then you might as well buy from here and get on free later on.
Employees are super nice and willing to help. For some reason, during our first 3 trips, they kept forgetting to put us into their system for the instinct buyers program, but the lady there finally fixed the problem and actually added on extras for us!

This store is for serious pet-​lovers — everything you can imagine and more to pamper your pup, complete with two grooming stalls.
I walked in looking for a little bling for a friend’s Chihuahua — and behold, there is a glass cabinet showcasing collars for the prissiest pooch with pink and green gems.
A cookie bar with wholesome, organic doggy cookies looks delectable, and I withhold the temptation to snag one for myself.
The location near the Red Parrot Asian Bistro and Harris Teeters is excellent.
