We went here this past Saturday for dinner with a party of 10. I had made a reservation for 6:30 and we arrived a few minutes early but were immediately taken to our table. The staff was good about adding more tables to make sure we had enough space and made sure we had plenty of water throughout the night. I ordered the drooling gnocchis which was covered in alfredo sauce and had a touch of red sauce on them as well. The pasta was delicious and very rich but I thoroughly enjoyed the dish. The pasta also came with their house salad which was a good portion as well as warm bread. I allowed a few of my friends a bite of my gnocchis and they definitely felt that this dish stole the show! Two of my friends also had the tour dish with three different entrees on it and they enjoyed that as well. My husband had the veal parm which came with spaghetti and he cleaned his plate enjoying every bite.

We went for a 5PM Sunday dinner w/o a reservation but got seated immediately. A waiter was ready to take an order right away, but we asked for some time. Curiously, while at a Little Italy restaurant, all the servers & busboys were Hispanic. They hustled, but I would’ve thought we would have a neighborhood Italian waiter. We ordered a Chips salad before our entrée. It was a a salad plate of torn iceberg lettuce, 2 grape tomatoes, and the most delicious Caesar dsg, plenty of fresh garlic & parm cheese, but nothing else. I remember Chips had the absolute best salad w/romaine lettuce. Our 2 different veal dishes had a too sugary red wine sauce. The garlic bread I ordered was 4 slices of oiled bread, oven toasted, w/o any butter, garlic, or parm flavor. Those 4 slices coast $ 4. I make a much better recipe for garlic bread. My house Cabernet came in a small unimpressive wine glass. The manager did come by to ask how our meal was. We offered a quick«okay» response. The neighborhood was lively & felt safe as we asked 2 blocks to our car to return home.

Best restaurant in Baltimore. I am a tough grader when it comes to Italian food, but this place is outstanding. The salad alone is worth the price of admission. Whenever we are in Baltimore, we stop in here. The place has a real neighborhood feel, the kind of place that the local cop stops in to say hello and get the score of the ballgame in the bar area.

I came here several times but the most recent visit was a bit disappointing: not the food but the service. Our waiter wasn’t attentive. While he was taking orders, all of a sudden excused himself and went to help another table. I only saw him twice during the meal: shortly after the food was served and when we asked for our check. In the meanwhile we had to ask other waiters to fill water/refill drinks/etc. Food was good though. Their huge house salad is complementary. I can see people either loving it or not. It’s a bit cheesy. And also soaked with the dressing, so if you like their dressing then obviously you are going to like their salad. I think I will come back hoping that I have a different waiter.

Get’s a star for their ability to still make a good salad. Now for why they got just that star. First, the service was horrible from beginning to end. Took forever just to get the wine to our table. The apps came out fairly quickly but there was just a 25 minute space in between our apps finishing and the salad service. They really lacked with simple things too like clearing the table of discarded plates, asking us if we needed additional silverware, filling up water, etc. The appetizers were just average at best(antipasti and calamari) and when our entrees came out for our table of seven they forgot one. So the six of us are just sitting there waiting for the seventh to be served. Half the entrees were cold and the server didn’t even give us the correct plates. A $ 26 order of seafood ravioli was a pathetic serving of 4 ultra thin raviolis. The veal dishes were again incredibly average and the cannoli for dessert was pretty standard. I’ve been to this restaurant probably over 50 times since I was 8 years old and it’s kind of always been my family’s spot in Little Italy. It sucks when you’re looking around at your family members after dinner and realize none of you are ever coming back.

Food was great, I recommend sausage and pepper appetizer. But I’m more impressed by their service. Helen waited on me, and she was really warm and welcoming. I felt like I was invited to her family dinner. She waited for me to finish each dish deliver the next, and these days you don’t get that kind of attention to details, sadly. Food was more like 4 stars but I’m giving them 5 for Helen.

went here for a rehearsal dinner. The salad is the best Italian salad I have ever had. You could make a meal on that and oil and parmesan cheese. I had the chicken Marsala ravioli and eggplant Parmesan. The ravioli is the best. The chicken was ok and same with the parmesan. The bruschetta was amazing. The cannoli and tiramisu was great and staff was nice. Very special spot.

I came in with high expectations. I left unfulfilled and $ 160.00 poorer for the experience. The restaurant was dated the service was marginal and the food was just not good. When you go to a restaurant you want to be warmly greeted, you want the dining experience to be memorable and, of course, you want the food to be delicious enough to come back for. Chiapparellis missed on all levels. I think I am done with trying to pretend that the old icons of little italy are worth a trip. Their day has come and gone and this second and third generation of owners just don’t seem to have their heart in it. Like little italy, Chiapparelli’s has seen better days and, sadly, it has seen the last of me.

The food was absolutely delicious. Beware however of Tony who seated us. We asked him a question about the best sellers and he said he’d be right back. He continued seating guests for the next two hours and passed our table every time and never said a word. He also had a very bad habit of picking his nose. Really Tony, in a food establihment… nothing short of gross. We observed the rest of the staff working very quickly and pleasantly. Our water was refilled many times and as mentioned our food(warm bread, Italian salad, veal parm, the amazing BEST Pesto with homemade cappellini and the canola was over the top great. Please Tony, rise to the level of the rest of the great food and great staff so we can rate chiapperlli’s the well earned 5 stars it deserves.

The antipasti and the calamari were amazing. The portion size for everything was large. GIANTSALAD! If you like cheese, it has plenty. Yum! #cheeselover Main entrees were saucy and classic family style. The T said it was likable, but he didn’t like the kid’s chicken nuggets.

This is a place that time has forgotten and the kitchen has forgotten. I’m from Boston we have ye Olde style red sauce places in our version of little Italy. It’s been a long time since I ate at a place who cared so little about taste, freshness, or presentation. From the sloppy hostess to the soaking salad, gloppy sauce with no hint of seasoning. Who eats like this anymore? Shame on you for relying on your 75 years in the business. Step it up, raise the bar and freshen it up. Positive note! The waiter was attentive, the old ambiance was charming. Tired food.

My wife and I have been wanting to try a Italian restaurant in little Italy for a while now and last week we finally decided to try Chiapperlli. The only thing we recommend is the big unorthodox salads they were tasty but thats pretty much it. All we can say is if Oilve Garden taste better than a traditional Italian restaurant than thats a problem. The drinks were poorly made, I spend most of my night picking the burnt parts off of my garlic bread and my entrée was a little disappointing because the menu said it would be on top of linguine but was actually top of spaghetti noodles and it said pink sauce I had plain marinara sauce. I wouldn’t recommend. I was ready to go within the first 15 minutes. Maybe this explains why everything is closing down in that area.

I came in with a plus one, expecting to eat a great meal and have an even better bottles of wine. However, our planes changed due the extremely rude waiter that not just ignored us, but while we were talking, he walked away and started talking with another table! I was mesmerized with such a thing and took me a whike to realize whatvhave just happened. So again, I called him to order a bottle of wine and ask about the menu/specials. He literally, no joking, did it again and as he walked off, he said rudely, looking in another direction: «wait»! We look at each other and agreed that this establishment didn’t deserve our presence and money. So we walked away and went to Amici’s where we were happily welcomed and promptly served.

I freely admit that I would walk 1 mile uphill in the snow in both directions for a chiapparellis’ house salad(add the italian meats & chesse for $ 2). It’s hard to go wrong in Little Italy especially for lunch when prices are more down to earth — Chiapparelli’s is one of the best.

Great place, extreme quantity, but the taste is not worth its price. When my friends go to Little Italy, they ALWAYS come to Chiaparelli, so maybe my expectations were too high. FOOD: *THEHOUSESALADISABSOLUTELYAMAZING. The salad literally overflows from the plate and there’s so much that you can’t finish. ADVICE: don’t even try to eat the whole thing you won’t be able to even fit the pasta. *BESTOPESTO: got it with whole wheat pasta and chicken. The pesto was decent, but not enough of it, and the chicken was stiff. On top of it there was so much that after 30 of working on my plate, it still looked like I hadn’t touched it. *GNOCCHI: once again, there was SOMUCHOFIT. It mountained over the dish. The sauce was creamy and an absolute comfort, but once again I felt there was too little of it compared to the amount of gnocchi. *GRANDMA’S RAVIOLI: HIGHLYRECOMMENDED. The cheese filling was soft and the tomato sauce was slightly spicy, which balanced well. Was the best of all three. WINE: *We got a Carafe of Chardonnay to split for $ 32. Not bad at all, and plenty for all three of us. SERVICE: *The only thing I give all five stars for. AMBIENCE: *Cozy, good for a nice evening with friends. Also good for large group reservations.

Ya not ordering from here again. expensive and not worth it and driver forgot my coke and had to come back. The good stuff: Caprese– yes delicious! Cheese pizza– good/ok not the best not the worst I have had and I wouldn’t order it again. The bad stuff: Spaghetti– no salt and didn’t taste fresh– could’ve made better at home.

After flying from NH to BWI, we went to Little Italy to find food. We were hungry, and this was the first place we saw. It worked out great. Nice carafe of red wine, excellent chips salad and an order of Pescatore(shrimp, clams, mussels & calamari, homemade marinara, over linguine). It satisfies. Will go back again to try the other items that all sounded great. Nice stick-to-your-ribs food.

We were there around 6pm on a Friday, with baby in car seat in tow. The hostess seated us in the front right by the door when we asked for a quiet space away from the other guests. I was thrilled to see that they had ginger beer, since I’m pregnant and can’t enjoy the wine. Unfortunately it was quite flat and didn’t have much kick to it, so I left most of it in the glass. We started with the breadbasket. The bread was a little on the dry side, much improved with the olive oil, pepper, and parmesan mix I made on my bread plate, rather than the heaping pile of butter packets provided. Next came the Chip’s salad, which comes with each entrée. This salad was practically a full head of iceberg with red onions, tomatoes, pepperocinis, and croutons. The whole thing was doused in cheesy, garlic dressing. The dressing was flavorful, but the produce was a little soft and wilted. I had the Vittelo Leo, breaded veal with tomatoes, prosciutto, basil, capers. The veal was nicely cooked, and the sauce was a good balance of savory, sweetness, and acidity. I sopped up almost all of the sauce with the bread basket. There was a little too much breading on the veal, and it didn’t really adhere, so I ended up pushing about half of it to the side. My dining companions enjoyed their lasagna and mussels(appetizer portion ordered as the main), particularly the crispy garlic bread that came with the mussels. We attempted to rush out the door as the baby started to get fussy about eating her own dinner, and they mostly obliged, though our server was busy taking orders and drinks to the other table, since the restaurant had gotten pretty busy by 6:45. As we left, the valet was in a heated argument with an older gentleman. We were glad that we’d taken a cab, even if we were honked at for taking too long(1 whole minute) to get a baby and older lady out of a cab and pay for it. In short, the food is good, but it’s not a very hospitable environment.
