I would have to say that the Blacksmith Shop has a great Taco night. The bartenders and very friendly and willing to service you the best food and drinks. The customer service is excellent. If you are ever in the Balsam Lake area stop in and check out the friendly staff at the Blacksmith Shop.

I would agree, that it has gone downhill. The bartender was friendly enough, however the food was a disaster(no matter what the price). Simple meatloaf and Mac and Cheese was problematic. Meatloaf plate was barely warm and was tasteless. The Mac and Cheese came with the choice of two sides, and I ask for salad and cottage cheese. The Mac and Cheese showed up first, followed by cottage cheese, and then after I finished the entrée and cottage cheese the salad arrived. I thought I was in France for a moment.

Great chow, highly recommend the chicken sliders, buffalo fried chicken with coleslaw on a white bun! Always friendly staff. If the tv was high def it would get 5 stars.

Ok… so you have to admit that the criteria for reviews changes based on the establishment category. For example, a fancy restaurant would have to produce a different experience than a drive-thru to achieve the same 4-star rating. And, the Blacksmith Shop is a perfect example of 4-stars worth of experience and good times(vs. fancy and refined dining) that make me want to go back for more. A group of friends and I ventured over to the Blacksmith Shop after a long day of imbibing at the cabin and were pleasantly surprised by the place. First off, $ 6 all you can eat tacos??? $ 7 for tacos and a margarita? Yes, please! Now, don’t expect scrumptious, authentic tacos… think more hard-shell tacos from a cafeteria with a few bottles of squeezable sour cream and sauces on the table, however you should expect some friendly service, fascinating people, and amazing prices. If you are in the area, it is worth the trip to the Blacksmith Shop… if for anything else, a bottle of my favorite Wisconsin Beer-New Glarus Spotted Cow!
