We waited one hour and 15 minutes to get our food. When the food came out it tasted good enough to have waited 20 minutes for. This is not somewhere we will come back. I should add this is the second time we’ve been here and the service was super slow last time also.

We are actually to blame as it was our third time there and the service was worse each time, so we should have known. Went on Memorial Day and there was one waitress for the entire outside seating area. At one point I counted she had 10 tables. Maybe not her faut, but certainly not ours. Ordered a simple pizza with two salads that we asked to have first. 45 minutes later the salads and pizza all came out at once. Spent the entire time without a drink. Will never go back.

I went to Villago a few months ago and had dinner with my family and the service was terrible. It seems that it’s somewhat of a local hangout place for people because the server knew everyone and didn’t hesitate to chat with all her friends while we were left sitting at our table without drinks. A quick bite ended up lasting hours and we weren’t happy. I haven’t been back until recently when I decided to order a pizza to-go. When I got there I stood at the hostess station for at least ten minutes without being acknowledged by a single person that worked there. People kept walking right by me and a line formed with people wanting to be sat for dinner. Perhaps they were understaffed but a simple«I’ll be right with you» would have sufficed. I will say one good thing– the pizza is fantastic, so it’s a real shame that management isn’t doing something to fix the issues they have– seeing as so many people have rated it an average of 2-stars.

This place honestly doesn’t even deserve one star. After being referred to Villago by a co-worker, I was very excited to try their pizza and wings especially after seeing the beautiful location– which is probably the only thing this restaurant has going for it. We have given this restaurant three separate opportunities to change our initial opinion; unfortunately, each visit our opinion has gotten worse and worse. We really tried to like this place, but the poor service really deterred us from ever eating there again. I would never recommend this restaurant– I actually tell people NOT to waste their time or money. Upon entering the restaurant, we had been asked to wait for about 25 minutes when there were clearly several tables open. The hostess mentioned that they were busy and wanted to hold off on seating anymore tables until the kitchen was able to catch up– But at least let us sit down, enjoy a bottle of wine and look over the menu instead of sitting uncomfortably in the small, cramped waiting area. When we were finally able to sit down, the service was absolutely awful and extremely unfriendly and unattentive. We would have to wave down our waitress in order to get anything we needed– water, silverware, napkins, to place an order. While our waitress was too busy chatting with the two men sitting at the table behind us. The food took FOREVER to come out and was less than mediocre– We ordered a couple of pies of pizza, along with wings for an appetizer. Nothing special. Honestly we get better pizza from the mall. It’s extremely noisy due to do the rowdy bar crowd the restaurant draws in. We also had to wait about 20 minutes for our bill. A dinner date should not take two hours to be seated, order food, eat, and cash out. Needless to say, this restaurant really needs to get its act together. Improving service is certainly a must!!!

A family member invited us to Villago for dinner with a couple of friends. Villago has 30 Unilocal reviews and a 2 star average. My expectations were pretty low, but I kept an open mind. The bread that was brought to the table was stale. We started with the clams appetizer. They were chewy, and bland. They were accompanied with a cup of a yellow melted oil, that I have to assume was margarine. Whatever it was, it definitely was not butter. And it had a very odd taste to it. For my entrée I ordered the bolognese. The pasta was mushy, and overcooked, the bolognese sauce was bland and flavorless, and it was thick and heavy, with a slight burnt taste to it. I tasted my daughter’s spaghetti with butter. Her spaghetti was overcooked, and there was no butter. It was served with the same odd tasting margarine as the clams. She hardly touched it. My wife said her Penne Tuscano was«ok». Another at our table ordered fettuccini fra diavolo. She loved it. I tasted it, and other than hot pepper, thought it didn’t have much flavor, and it was oily. Two others who accompanied us liked their dishes. In spite of the fact that others at our table liked their dishes, in total I tasted 4 different dishes and not one was any good. We were there at prime dinner time on a Saturday, and the restaurant wasn’t terribly busy. It was more than half empty. Our service was ok, it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible either. I should also mention that our table,(the entire table) was sticky. It made putting your elbows or arms on the table less than appetizing. I also did not like that the busgirl took my fork and knife off my bread plate and put it on the carpet-like runner on the table. I can only imagine the crud that fabric runner will pick up. The word about Villago being mediocre is getting out, and Villago definitely deserves it’s 2 star rating.

My husband and I went there before a concert at SPAC. We stood at the door waiting while the«hostess» took 2 walk-in groups ahead of us. They walked in the door and he looked right through us both times. WEWERESTANDINGRIGHTINFRONTOFHIMATHISSTATION!!! Then, since those other parties had taken the last 2 spots on the beautiful deck, we got stuck inside at a tall table. Normally, this would be fine, but it’s SO loud in there we actually were texting each other from across the table because we could not hear each other speak. This is a bar — with food. It’s VERY, VERY loud. To make matters worse, the«hostess» was continually calling to his wait staff right over our table. Honestly! We were in the middle of probably 3 different conversations between him and other staff. SORUDE! Service was slow in the beginning. Had a very nice and funny waitress, Amanda? If not for her, we maybe have simply stood up and left. Food was pretty good. I had Bolognese and my husband had eggplant parm. Both were acceptable and would merit a return visit with our kids. But now that I’ve read the other reviews, I think our mediocre experience may have actually been stellar in comparison. And overall it was still MEH… We were looking forward to dinner here since we are kind of local. The crowd obviously knows each other from the lake. That’s why I’d call this a bar — everyone was yelling greetings to each other the entire time. It was like Cheers but REALLY, REALLY loud. Plus, there’s only 1 stall in the bathroom, so there was a line the entire time. Weird for a restaurant. It’s a bar. If you can’t get seating outside, and you don’t know everyone so you can participate in the raucousness at the bar(which might be fun if you did know everyone), drive on.

Went there the other night and the service was terrible. The staff didn’t even know we were there! We had to ask for a server. They took a drink order after some time and the food which was just ok took forever Have to rethink a return trip

It’s hard to figure out what this restaurant wants to be. It is list as a pizzeria and restaurant, however the atmosphere seemed a little more upscale. Clearly an older dinner and drinks crowd and not what I would call a pizzeria atmosphere. I felt under-dressed in a t-shirt and khaki shorts. That said, the experience did not live up to the apparent atmosphere. PRO * Great location and deck is gorgeous on a summer evening * Waitress friendly * Got an individual pizza for child. A decent little pie. * Bruschetta, pasta and marinara were ok. CON * Very long wait. Waitress was hustling, but kitchen is obviously very slow. * Chicken parm was a thick slab of chicken. Not pounded thin and as tender as I would expect. * Lasagna was a brick … Ton of meat in layers of pasta with little mozzarella and sauce. Too heavy for my taste. * No kids menu and you get a plate sharing charge for sharing an adult meal with a kid. * Restaurant pricing with fast service pizzeria quality food. Relatively high priced considering the quality of the food is no better than a typical pizza place. If I went back, I would order pizza only with drinks and enjoy the deck. The entrees were mediocre at best.

Service, awful. Food, awful. Just flat out awful. Too much to write in a review because it was awful on so many levels including the bartender who kept coughing up a lung every 3 minutes in to his hands and then not washing his hands. The 8 oz meatball was especially awful with zero flavor, more like 85% ground beef rolled in to a ball with no flavor BUT I was reminded that it was from a 27 year old family recipe… maybe you should consider changing the recipe. Veal had zero flavor, risotto not cooked properly, and the wedge??? Wet soggy lettuce, tomatoes that tasted like they we’re picked in a hot house in December and the Gorgonzola was soggy, grey and very very old. All this after a 50 minute wait, no bread for the 1st45 minutes(yes, the bread kinda sucked too… it was stale), and not being shown a wine list when asked what kind of wines they had by the glass. The manager Jessica was very apologetic, agreed with most of what we said, comped us the dinner and gave us a $ 20 gift card and tiramisu because she knew it was delicious… well, not so much. The lady fingers weren’t soaked properly so it tasted stale. All very nice gestures on her part but this place needs a major makeover when it comes to food prep and service levels. Sorry Villago but you are awful!

On this glorious summer weekend, we went to Villago with high hopes for drinks and pizza on the deck. This is the third time we’ve been there since it opened, and it always seems to be something. This time, terrible service, which reminded me once again how the standard of service can either make or break your dining experience. Blue cheese dressing for salad was bland and mayo-like, one small dip and I couldn’t touch it again… ate dry greens because getting the server back to our table always seemed to be a challenge. Pizza was okay, C-. Bottom line, poor service and less than good standard food… $ 56 later.

Great place for the family or to grab a beer/wine at the bar. Food was above average. Atmosphere was inviting. Service was nice, but slow. The view of Ballston Lake makes you forget that you’re home. Definitely worth the trip to mix things up. If you want to pretend you’re on vacation for a couple hours, give this place a try.

It took 1.5hr to get seated. About 2 hours in now and still haven’t gotten our bread yet. Had to get up to serve ourselves water. Could slowly turn in into a 3 – 4 hour meal…

We went to Villago during restaurant week; trying to attract new customers — not. We were seated and ignored while several other tables around us were waited on. Not a single person stopped by and all of the wait staff were busy socializing with regulars. villago pizzeria obviously does not want new customers.

We were thinking it would be a beautiful day to enjoy dinner overlooking water. Thus came the suggestion to return to Villago. Almost three months had passed since our first visit, we heard that the outdoor deck had been completed and there hadn’t been any rain lately so the parking lot would not be muddy. At about 5 pm on a Sunday, the bar was mostly full, only one high-top was available inside, but it wasn’t even close to a view of the lake outside. We had noticed an empty table with an umbrella on the patio so we asked if we could be seated there. We were, and it offered a lovely view of the lake. Starting with pints of Goose Island Honkers Ale and Davidson Brothers IPA($ 5 each), we both agreed that the IPA had more flavor than the English style bitter. Two items of interest on the daily specials menu made it onto our order — Squash Flowers stuffed with ricotta($ 12) as an appetizer, and Heirloom Tomato and Burrata Ravioli($ 17). I decided to order the 16 oz. Lasagna($ 14.99). There were three of the squash flowers filled, lightly coated with a batter, deep fried, and served with a marinara sauce for dipping. They were good, not greasy, and lots of ricotta oozed out when they were cut into. The ravioli were served in a red pepper pesto sauce with asparagus. Overall, it was a nice dish, but it seemed like it was missing something to give it some zip. A similar comment could be made about the huge, towering block of lasagna that was served to me. It seemed to lack some kind of exciting flavor. The pasta was extra thick, and maybe necessarily so to withstand the weight of the other ingredients. The mixture of ground beef and sausage had only the faintest flavor of Italian meatballs or Italian sausage. In a very rare action from both of us, we added a pinch of salt to both of our dishes and noticed an improvement. Half of my lasagna came home with me and the next day benefited from the addition of some oregano and Tuscan spice. Our service from Heather was very good, and the busboy kept everyone’s water glasses filled and dirty dishes cleared. Considering the number of customers, the kitchen did an acceptable job of getting the orders out in a timely fashion. Had we not nursed our second pints of beer, we probably could have been gone in 90 minutes.

Where do I begin. The wait for a pizza was close to 2 hrs. No bread served. Ordered a salad for $ 12.00 because very hungry. That took a really long time as well. I had to ask server for it after a while. Lots of help in dining room running around, but only 1 bartender. I had to WAIT for drinks and we only ordered 2 glassed of wine. Thinking kitchen cannot handle volume and they’d better get it right or people will stop going. Quality of pizza… ok. enjoyed it, but not as good as I’ve had.

I want to give this place a 2.5. I actually want to give it a 5. I was really excited to try it. The location is fabulous — the first floor looks great, fabulous vistas! Very loud, but great atmosphere — we had a reservation and it turns out they were seating us upstairs. WHile I can’t completely fault the restaurant for the family with the shouting and screeching children next But should the restaurant have stopped the children from running a mock in the open space? Probably. the décor upstairs leaves something to be desired… but since this is a new establishment I assume this is a work in progress, as downstairs was great. The bread at the table… AMAZING. But they only brought one olive oil plate for a table of 7. When we asked for a second, the waitress seemed very confused about our request. The burratta appetizer was also delicious — but we waited. and waited. and waited. after this for our meal. everybody got served. except myself — when i asked where my dinner was she seemed confused before she told me it was coming. a member of my party got the wrong meal — his new meal came out well after the rest of us finished dinner. In this time we received the wrong wine, the eggplant parm was thick, mushy, and tasted frozen. The bolognese was good. We waited a very long time for the check. A busser eventually brought it to us. Not sure I’d go back — the location is superb. Still want to try the pizza. Service not great, meals for the most part, not great. I feel sad writing this review so negatively.
