We love the breakfasts here! Especially in the fall when the donut truck is out front. A local gem for sure.

As a NYC’er, these were some of the nicest people i have ever met. It was our first time here and we got chicken salad sandwhiches on rye(all homemade) that was rockin. I was tempted by the tuna melt. Super country farm ish and again, everything is home made. My new spot for when visiting up here. Coming back for breakfast.

Always busy on the weekends so parking might take a few minutes but the Apple Cider Donuts are worth it.

This is an amazing place and second time coming back in two years! Their cider doughnuts are delicious coming out fresh and hot! This is a MUST and their apple cider juice as well(not too sweet, just right). Based off this, we only visited the trailer where the doughnuts were being made and the big barn where the cider juice was being created. I couldn’t tell you about the indoors but regardless, this is a must-travel place during autumn.

Thanks to fellow Unilocalers, we found this spot on our long drive home and decided to take a mini detour for a quick lunch. When we got in, we checked out the menu, and decided to get sandwiches. Just a heads up, you order, give the slip to the kitchen, pay up front, grab a seat and wait for your ticket number to be read over the intercom to go pick up your food. My husband got the«spy» which was a tasty pastrami and cheese on pumpernickel which was toasted to perfection. I got the grilled cheese with cheddar and tomato on rye– and it was SO good. We also got some cider donuts as was recommended by other Unilocalers– and I have to agree– a must buy! Our sandwiches were great, the service was super kind, and I would highly recommend a detour of your own if you’re not from the area to get some yummy food.

I just snarfed down a ginorm chicken salad sandwich from here for BREAKFAST. Yup, it’s so good I couldn’t wait til lunch y’all. Now normally I’d enthusiastically oppose the use of raisins in chicken salad. Had I known they were in the recipe, I might’ve been deterred from ordering it in the first place. And my world would have been a little sadder. But ignorance is bliss, and Lakeside’s chicken salad is not to be missed. Seriously. My only criticism is that the sandwiches are so darn big, half of the stuffing falls out when you take a bite. But I get mine to go so I can’t be judged by taking it down with a fork and knife. Also I like how you order. The first time I went there, the handsome cashier man was like«Do you know what to do?» and I was all like, «Um give you my money and receive a sandwich?» Nope, there’s more. Just a heads up.

We absolutely LOVE Lakeside! The produce is so fresh! Each hand selected by the owner each week. They also serve delicious breakfast and lunch! The store has lots of specialty items and cool gifts. This is our go to place in the spring/summer/fall! Ooohhhh take a trip up in the fall, it’s decorated so lovely!

Nice little shop. Drove out for the candy as you can’t find old fashioned candy where we live. Nice selection of candy, honey preserves and more. Everything in the bakery smelled so good. We took home a half dozen donuts and are excited to try them

This place has the best apple cider donuts I have ever had! For two decades my family has driven up from the city to enjoy their hot spiced cider and fresh warm donuts.

Been a local favorite for decades. The deli salads, the produce, the baked good, all outstanding! My favorite sandwich that you must try is «The Lakesider»…trust me to die for! I’ve introduced it to many of my friends over the years. The only problem is they are toooooo busy!!! especially on weekends but I will say they have a large staff and they do their best to keep up.

A city boy is a sucker for a country store. Local products, local produce, homemade goodies and HOLY apple pie a la mode– I’ve never seen so many homemade pies in my life. The general store has so many retro candies that I haven’t seen since I was a kid. The breakfast gripe: Take One: I ordered a veggie omelette that had to be remade three times. On the first attempt, the mushrooms were so salty that my throat and my tongue burned for several seconds after I swallowed the first bite. I intended to eat around the eggs, but one of my breakfast companions marched it back to the kitchen. Take Two: When I picked up the second omelette, the cook told me that we, yes we, over-salted the food and said that he could see the salt crystals on the returned omelette. He informed me that they don’t salt their vegetables and I informed him that I don’t salt my food. Take two, first bite: I got another mouthful of salt. I walked back to the kitchen window and informed them that there was still a sodium a overload. They seemed skeptical, but offered to make me another omelette. I declined their offer and told them that I’d eat around it, but insisted that the mushrooms were the likely suspects. The other three diners in my party were finished with their meals. Take Three: Shortly after returning to my seat, one of the cooks stopped by the table and told me that I should throw out the omelette and admitted that there was a mushroom malfunction. The third omelette, well, third time’s a charm. Verdict: It takes courage to admit when you’re wrong and it takes class to be willing to fix it… That almost made up for having my integrity questioned. While the third omelette was okay, I didn’t finish my food because our group was under time constraints. Because of the experience, I decided against all other purchases.

As a country store this place looks really neat. As an eatery it’s okay. SERVICE: This is a quirky aspect of this store. Customers order their food at the bakery/deli counter and are given a ticket which they have to take to the kitchen counter, and then the customer waits for their number to be called. Meals are served on disposable plasticware atop standard school cafeteria trays. At least the staff is friendly and courteous. FOOD: Not bad but nothing that makes me rave about its greatness. I got a Cortland sandwich(turkey, bacon, roast beef) on dark rye bread. It was a good sandwich, and like all sandwiches it came with Snyder’s potato chips. To me it seemed like the equivalent of what you’d get at a Panera Bread(same pricing as well). VALUE: This place’s value is middle of the road. For a Cortland($ 8.79) and a 20 oz fountain soda($ 1.59 with only one refill included) you’ll be spending $ 11.11 after tax for lunch. That’s not uncommon these days when you visit most other places. I wish, though, the service aspect was a bit better for the price. At least at chain restaurants you get real plates and silverware when you pay that price for a full meal. Overall, this place is decent as a restaurant. As a country store it definitely offers more, especially with its large, varied selection of fresh produce and hard-to-find candies/treats.

Love this place! Opens in spring through close to Christmas. We always go to breakfast on Mother’s Day. Today my sister has the short stack of blueberry pancakes. She said the best she’s ever had. I had a breakfast sandwich and breakfast potatoes. Yummy. Wonderful baked goods. Love the pumpkin cookies!!! Quaint place for breakfast or lunch. No frills but who needs them here!

Love this place! Been going here since I was little and now that I moved I still always have to make a trip back home to get some apple fritters and a Macintosh sandwich. They have fresh produce and lots of candy. They even have some candy you can’t usually find like candy cigarettes and lipsticks. I love their sandwiches. I always get a Macintosh which is ham, turkey, coleslaw, mustard, mayo and melted Swiss. It’s so delicious, the combo of flavors and the melted Swiss from the broiler just makes it so good! Ugh I want one now :/served with chips and a dull pickle. I only wish the sandwiches were bigger. They have delicious pies and pastries. I love the apple fritters and cinnamon roll. Fresh and soft with a delicious glaze. They have yummy soups and everything is delicious here. Go now!!!(as long as it’s not winter, they close then)

I reviewed the sandwich and donut side of this establishment in my earlier review, but having stopped here a number of times while out and about on business now, I feel pretty good about notching up a fourth star for the small farmstand/grocery included. It’s small, and the produce variety is «standard», but in-season the quality is excellent(a lot of organic stuff grown right there) and the price is better than at the supermarkets(which is not always the case with the farmstand-style veggies). They also have ornamental plants and flowers in-season, which are outstanding right now and also decently-priced compared to the big nurseries. It’s just a nice little package for a country store, a homey sandwich place, cider donuts, gifty things for your Aunt Marge, and a basic grocery. I’m not sure you’d necessarily go out of your way for any one aspect of the place, but as a combination it makes an attractive waypoint. And, we saw the cider press in action last fall, which was cool.

This place IS fall. It’s scenic, warm and cozy… and a great place to go for breakfast in town… actually beyond town; We drive up from Halfmoon every weekend. The prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent. The atmosphere really adds to the overall experience. Breakfast is EVERYTHING breakfast should be. Crisp bacon, eggs cooked to perfection. Corned beef hash worth getting every visit. Pancakes the way pancakes should be done. Hearty portions at a great price. We always buy some apple cider to have with breakfast. Beyond the awesome breakfast is the shop and farm stand. Homemade honey from a local beekeeper, fresh fruits and vegetables, and of course apples, cider and cider donuts! A visit to Lakeside Farm fills you with all the warmth that fall has to offer. Eat a great breakfast then stop by and watch them make fresh cider donuts(and buy some of course) outside. The setup is a bit unique: When you come in the door, get in line to the left and grab a menu hanging on the post. Figure out what you want and order when you get to the end of the counter. After ordering you bring your order form to the pick-up window and give it to someone in the kitchen. You keep the smaller portion which has your order number on it. When your order is ready, they will call your number. Pick up your order at the window. This process allows them to get your order up extremely quickly considering the volume of orders they go through. Great food and a great experience. This place is a staple for our family in the fall.

Summary– Good sandwich in somewhat chaotic setting. Meh cider donuts but they were piping hot. Food– 4 Stars Golumbki soup I ordered was my favorite thing I had. Clearly homemade and excellent for a fall day and bumps up from 3 to 4 stars. My sandwich, the lakesider, was pretty good but not stand out awesome. It was reasonably sized for the price but not huge. Wifey’s BLT was good, her(house?) salad was huge. Their apples were meh, but so are everyone’s this year so no judging there. Cider Donuts were OK, piping hot but not my favorite by a long shot. Missing flavors and texture. Atmosphere– 2 Stars Self serve kinda cafeteria esque seating area is filled to the brim with cheesy crap for sale. The front area/market can also be chaotic. The farmish/outdoor area isn’t bad. Parking can also be chaos, be careful. Service– 2 Stars The ordering mechanism, ordering and one place then dropping your slip off at another place then waiting to hear your number– it’s a little much. Why can’t they deliver the slip to the kitchen? It’s also awkward how you go to order and have to have your drinks in hand unless you are getting a fountain soda. I don’t see why they don’t make it more like a cafeteria where you check out at the end before you move into dining area. Additionally, in the apple/produce register outside the line moved like molasses. Value– 3 Stars About right.
