Tops

I come here for the convenience of the location, and that’s where my love affair with this supermarket begins. The produce selection is just as good if not better than Wegmans. I like that they put the organic apples high on the shelf so that the children and adults that are child-​size can’t reach them. The staff is very helpful and friendly, especially in the deli, where along with their friendly faces is a great selection and quality of lunch meats. While they only have one type of light cream in the dairy, how many do you actually need? Their bakery rivals that of Columbus Bakery with delicious and fairly priced rolls, croissants, etc. While their selection of prepared foods is not very extensive, what they do offer is delicious. I visit this store on almost a daily basis, and I couldn’t be happier with their service, quality, prices and location. Each time I step inside this supermarket, my heart grows three sizes like the Grinch.

I come here for convenience of the location, but that’s where my love affair with this supermarket ends. The produce offerings make me want to cry literally every time I’m there. The lack of organic produce is shocking and horrifying to me. They typically have one type of organic apple, and it’s always about 7 feet in the air on a shelf I cannot reach. When I finally manage to take the entire basket of apples down from that high up, all the apples are rubbery or damaged looking. The staff here appear to hate their jobs, as I regularly hear complaints and total disinterest in working. They carry ONE, I repeat ONE type of light cream in a small size, which I find ludicrous. Their bakery bakes inedible croissants and there is a serious lack of semi-​prepared foods or prepared foods (no sushi!). I try to shop at Wegman’s on my way home from work instead of having to slum it at Tops. Overall, I’m grateful there is a supermarket close to my house, but I die a little bit inside each time I step in this supermarket.
