Price of the meat has doubled. Not coming back.:/ 9 bucks a pound is way too much. You can get a restaurant plate of food with ranchera for that much.

This place has good fresh meats but I will no longer be a customer and here’s why, This place is very expensive especially there Carne Ranchera(Flap Meat). My family and I used to come to this meat market all the time and were aware that they are more expensive then most meat markets but didn’t mind as other meat markets we tried failed to impress us. So recently we found a meat market in BP called Ochoa Meats which is right across the street from In N out, we liked the meats and prices were considerably cheaper than Urupuan’s usually the Carne Ranchera is about $ 1 cheaper per pound, Well this past Friday i went to Urupuan to get some Carne Al Pastor as I love how they season it, WOW oh My there prices just went up even more. The Carne Ranchera was $ 8.99 a pound when i had just gotten it for $ 6.29 a pound at Ochoa’s meat market the weekend before, Well i know the prices fluctuate but i also seen the milanesa empanisada was $ 6.59 a pound where at most meat markets it would be aboout $ 4.99 a pound. Well I just got carne al pastor and the next day went to Vallarata and checked out their prices and there Ranchera meat was $ 6.99,so basically your paying anywhere from $ 2 to $ 2.70 more a pound for Ranchera at Urupuan then any other meat market. But not just ranchera but all the meats are extremely expensive, I would reccomend instead anyone in bp to go to Ochoa’s meat or any other meat market cause let me tell you this place has just gotten to expensive, at these prices I don’t see them staying in business too much longer in a city where alot of people barely make enough to make ends meet.

Negative 1, for service. Food was«ok», not like others have stated in previous reviews. Would not drive there just for their meats. Let’s get to it & why a –1 on their service. Well, went there to try out their meat selection. Waited about 10 mins & no service(have in mind that the place was empty). Then when a female stepped in, «all eyes & attention to her», I’m not hating, but can they make it less obvious! All those meat cutting fools then rushed to take her order. No problem, I’m cool. It’s just that no one likes to be «cut in» front of-that’s all. So if you want quick service here, you should be a female or send in your lady to get the stuff.

Two words, Bistec de Pollo(chicken steak). Carniceria Uruapan has the best Bistec de Pollo marinado for grilling in the San Gabriel Valley, hands down. The chicken marinade game here is bonkers. I think they let the chicken marinade for a long period of time because the taste is superb. I will challenge anyone to recommend me a better place for bistec de pollo. I come here a lot because of the marinade and do not mind driving out my way for it. Trust me when I say, the bistec de pollo will turn non believers into believers. Carniceria has some very tasty fresh homemade salsas. They have a large selections of different types of salsa. They have green, red, guacamole, pico de gallo, etc. I highly recommend trying the chili-sesame seed, oil based salsa. The same salsa people use for the filete sarandeado. This salsa taste great on tacos. Make sure to pick up a bag of totopos(chips) as well. Futhermore, the carniceria has some fresh produce. They do a good job labeling the different produce and keeping things organized. If an item you want to buy does not have a prices tag, make sure to ask for the price. On a couple occasions, I have been over-charged for random produce. So just keep on eye out on the price of your items.

Every body loves a cook out. Every body has a spot they go to for their meat. Let’s just say I put Uruapan’s carne against ALLCHALLENGERS when it comes to cook outs and I’ve never lost. I create converts. Carne Asada preparado. Let it marinate in the bag they give it to you in for like 16 hours before cooking and you too, will be driving all the way to Baldwin Park for your bbq meats.
