Shapes Brow Bar

If it weren’t for my one year membership I wouldn’t come back to this place. The ladies here are all so rude! No greeting, no smile. Nothing. They look like they hate their jobs and don’t want to be there. They don’t even ask you what you want before they sit you down. Numerous times I’ve had to stop them right as their about to start threading to explain to them what I want. I understand their English is very limited but that does not excuse their horrible attitude. Once in a while there will be a couple of Hispanic guys there who are pretty nice but I don’t see them working too often. I can’t wait til my membership is up so I can go find another place to get my eyebrows done.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Worst place ever! I was in a rush to shop and I needed to get my eyebrows done. So I decided to stop by since I was already in the mall. They sat me down, no greetings or nothing. An older lady started doing my eyebrows. I noticed she was taking forever. They usually are pretty fast at shaping. So then suddenly she literally grabs a few lashes with the thread. OMG i started sneezing and got up immediately I was like wtf? Luckily, I had no bald spot on my lash, I ended up paying even though I shouldn’t have. She could’ve yanked off a piece of my lash. i don’t recommend this place. They are rude. She didn’t bother saying sorry for grabbing my lash instead of my eyebrow! She blamed me for having long lashes? So stupid! Don’t go here unless you want to risk having a bald spot on your eyebrows and half of your lashes pulled out.

I just moved back to Bakersfield after living in LA for over 20-​years (I’m still asking myself WHY???) I previously went to the Shapes Brow Bar in Sherman Oaks in the LA area and loved the great professional and consistent service I received from Jenik. Last weekend I went to the Shapes «store» in Bakersfield in the Valley Plaza Mall, not the kiosk, and told «William» a young Hispanic guy working there, that I just wanted my brows shaped and to leave them as full as possible. 5-​minutes after he started he told me he only had 4 months experience. When I saw my brows, they were absolutely horrible! He made them very, very thin, both my brows were shaped differently and one was higher than the other!!! WTF? I wanted to cry and was so pissed at myself for ever thinking I could get the same level of service in Bakersfield that I got in LA!!! The worse part was that «William» thought my brows looked «good»! He could not understand why I was unhappy with the shitty job he did. I left without paying because he totally f*cked up my brows and now I have to walk around like this until and IF they grow back. DO NOT GO THERE, you’ll be very sorry! The Indian women who run the shop are F-​IN CLUELESS and have no idea what they’re doing!!!

I like how they shape my eyebrows. The actual threading doesn’t take long at all, but sometimes there is a little bit of a wait because there is usually only one lady in the shop. The lady is not real friendly, but not unpleasant either. She just seems to be in a hurry since she is the only one doing both the threading and the register stuff. I am happy with how my brows turn out, but you have to be prepared to wait a little to get them done.

This place did such great work until recently. I assume they’re under new management due to the large sweaty white guy running the show at the front desk. Now its sloppy. You know you’ve got amateurs when their threads break every 5 seconds. Going to have to find a new place.

I am in town visiting my parents, and decided to take my mom to have her eyebrows threaded for the first time. The customer service here is horrible. They do not greet you or make you feel welcome. The woman looked at my moms eyebrows and said there is «nothing she can do for her» because she has scarce brows, but I began with scarce brows at my usual place, and because of them I have been able to grow them and shape them out fully. I figured they would also help my mom at this place. While helping me the woman was very aggressive and the threading was very painful, which is also something I’ve not experienced at other places. The cherry on top was when she showed me my brows and there was a huge gap of missing hair on my left brow… When I asked her why she said she didn’t know. How is that possible? I came in with full brows and left with a missing chunk. In other place I’ve been to they will wipe your brows with aloe Vera or some kind of soothing cream. They don’t use that here either apparently. I’m very disappointed with the quality of this brow bar. Do not recommend at all.

Ok so I’m not from the area and came to visit friends and desperately needed my eyebrows done. I’m used to really great places in the LA area, Bay Area, and Ventura county. This place was not up to par. The customer service was awful.
The older woman was rushing so much because there were two people waiting. Two people really isn’t a crowd. The price was high but it was in a mall so it’s understandable. Then she rushed through my threading. She didn’t really check or let me check. She just handed me a tissue and ran over to call the next person. She also yelled at the next person to sit down as if that was going to make it go faster and even though she still had to charge me.
The other horrible part was it was so incredibly hot in the shop that I was sweating. You can’t thread well when the hairs are sticking to your face. Plus all the excess hairs being cut were sticking to my face. It was not a good place to go.
The reason I gave it 2 stars was because they looked much better than before. But shaving them off would’ve had the same positive effect. And that’s saying something.

Great job on the eye brows but terrible job on my upper lip. Usually the technician will tell you to purse your lips etc in order to thread the hair. She did not say anything & ended up cutting my lip & not informing me.

This place fucking blows. I don’t know if its bc I’m in bakersfield now or what. All of the eye brow places in the IE do an amazing job and they take pride in their work this place was rude and mediocre wouldn’t even begin to describe their work ethic. Complete garbage.

I have been to this brow bar several times, and I always receive very good service. The staff are very nice. Many of the girls will speak to each other in their language while they help you, but this doesn’t bother me, so it does not affect my rating of this shop. I have different shape eyebrows, so I always have trouble doing them myself. The ladies here do a great job making them appear similar in shape. Threading isn’t painless, but I think it is much less painful than waxing, and my skin doesn’t feel the least bit sensitive as it does when I’ve had waxing done. I would definitely recommend this brow bar. If you plan to shop at the mall, I would save this until last though, because you will be a little red.

I visited the Shapes Brow Bar for the first time this week. It was also my first time having my eyebrows threaded and I was a little bit nervous, to say the least. I was very pleasantly surprised as how quickly and easily the process went.
I have often had problems reacting poorly to eyebrow waxing, suffering from redness and puffiness for hours on end. I’ve also been burned by wax that is too hot. I’m not going to say that it felt good to have my eyebrows threaded. There was definitely some pain involved, but much less pain than there was with waxing. I had my upper lip threaded, too, and that was less painful also.
They handed me the mirror and I was amazed to see that there was no redness, no puffiness, and no swelling at all! Nobody could tell when I walked out that I’d had any sort of procedure done. And the price was comparable to waxing, maybe a little less, depending on where you’re used to getting it done!
So, in summary, it’s (slightly) cheaper, it hurts less, it looks just as good or better, and leaves no marks. I’d say this place is firing on all cylinders!
I’ll definitely be back!

I have been here twice now and I really like the experience. This is eyebrow threading, and if you have never had it done, you definitely need to try it. First of all, I love that there is usually little to no wait. All the ladies in there are friendly and I really like the atmosphere. The place has really good lighting and it is so clean inside. It has a very modern feel to it. When they thread your brows they first cleanse the skin underneath and then they have you hold your brow taught. After they thread off all the unwanted hair, they will define your brows as needed. It is located in the Valley Plaza Mall, and if you are coming in the main entrance, you just keep walking straight past the main walkway and it is on your right hand side.
