I always have a great experience when I order my lunch from the downtown Sequoia Sandwich! I don’t eat lunch out a lot, but when I do, I usually choose Sequoia. It is ALWAYS packed for lunch, so I usually order my meal ahead of time online. The online menu is straight forward and easy to use, and I’ve never had a problem with my order doing it that way! ;). Everything I have ordered has always been fresh, and yummy! I don’t usually sit and eat in the restaurant because it’s crowded, and my office is very close to walk back to, but their restaurant always seems clean and the staff helping with the orders are sweet and helpful. I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone in the downtown area looking for a yummy lunch option. Be aware, they are only open for lunch on the weekdays and Saturdays… This location is not open on Sundays.

A little bit pricey for a sandwich but it’s definitely worth it every once in a while. The bread is amazing and the food is very fresh.

If you have never been here, you must try out! The sandwiches are so delicious. I have had the pastrami, BBQ chicken, and tuna. You can place your order online and pay for it. This is very convenient specially during the lunch hour rush.

My favorite lunch spot downtown. The staff are always helpful and surprisingly friendly for how insanely busy they almost always seem to be. The food is always really good and the ingredients are obviously of good quality. The only reason I can’t give them 5 stars is because they’re simply so busy(especially during the lunch rush) that the inside of the shop is so crammed with people it’s not comfortable. I hate having to squeeze through people to get to the line. I wish they could find another shop and have 2 locations downtown. They’re so popular, it’d be a huge crowd relief.

I’ve been here a few times now to this location. I agree with what many people have said, sequoia is always decent and I’ve never had a bad experience. They are very busy at this location. My problem with sequoia is that people hyped it up for me, so I was expecting the best sandwiches in town and I got«oh. These are good!» Don’t get me wrong, it’s good. Everything tastes really fresh. I just feel like its not that great of a value and not that unique of a sandwich spot. I’ve also had better customer service experiences at Togo’s and Jersey Mikes, better desserts at the local bakeries and ice cream shops, and equally as good sandwiches from other shops, so nothing really compels me to go back on a regular basis. I do like the Cajun chicken sandwich and southwestern chicken sandwich when I have been.

I was in town in business and this place was recommended, it was fantastic! I ended up going for lunch everyday that week, they have great hot and cold sandwiches and salads!

First time check-in here so take my review with a grain of salt. I went for the warm fajita chicken sandwich and believe me, it was bomb. My meal came within minutes of ordering but mind you I walked in at 2:30pm. It had a good amount of fajitas hanging out with some of that good good guac on them juicy grilled chicken strips. It also came with a side of red tomato salsa and sour cream. I devoured the wich in 5 minutes! The only reason why I am giving it a 4 star is because the toasted bread was already half way soggy when I got it. I had to finish it quickly or the sandwich would’ve fallen apart. Oh and their restroom is fairly clean. Doesn’t smell bad at all.

Sequoia is one of those places where you know you’ll get the same service and the same quality of food each time you go. Service is always great and the food is always on point! I’ve never met a sandwich I didn’t like here. Even more so, all their salads are fresh and tasty. Working across the street, this is a dependable lunch spot that is sure to please. Even our out-of-town vendors that come for meetings love ordering power lunches from Sequoia. If you are scrapped for time, be sure to pre-order online! Portions are huge for the price you pay. Love the half orders of salad!

I was in town for a toy show went to have lunch and ordered a salad my wife ordered a sandwich. First they put the sandwich(pastrami) in front of me when I tried to get the salad she pushed my hand away to put it in front of my wife. I’m a big guy but I like salad for lunch for her to assume I was eating the sandwich and not the salad is rude. Second I ordered the salad no cranberries it came with cranberries second the kale in the salad was not cut properly so it was trying to eat a bowl of hay. Third when I tried to return it the person(a tall girl) at the counter was less then helpful and really tried to point out the it was my fault for not knowing there system of serving salad with dressing on the side I let it go asked for a refund and left hungry. 10/19/20151:00pm

Came here on a Weds around 12:30 to a fairly good sized crowd. The staff handled things so efficiently. Great gal taking our order, really pleasant attitude. The young man who bussed the table also had a big smile on his face. I really appreciate happy people. Now about the food: The meats and cheeses are Saag and Boars Head, although not nitrate free they are good quality. The portions were generous. We shared the Big Dipper. Very good sandwich. The macaroni salad wasn’t sweet or gooey or loaded with mayo. It was almost dry. Very tasty. Cole slaw was the best I have ever had. Not sweet; tasted crunchy and fresh. A must try, and I am not a cole slaw lover. Meatball soup was delicious. Really wonderful and simple ingredients. I can see why that gets the rave reviews. Peanut butter cookie was delicious, big enough to share. The desserts look out of this world. Check out their actual website for the menu. They did a great job showcasing everything, and many items have photos. The seating is wonderful here! It can accommodate a crowd and you still don’t feel imposed on. Big Dipper Sandwich Chips Cole slaw Macaroni salad Meatball soup Drink Cookie We shared all of the above, we were full, and the bill was $ 22.53. Great food, great service, pleasant atmosphere. Don’t be discouraged if you see a long line; it went very quickly.

I usually come to this location during lunch, but as usual it gets really packed because of its location Downtown. Most people order ahead of time either online or by phone, to avoid the long line. I usually come here between 1 – 2 pm and it sure makes a difference. After years of eating at Sequoia, I’ve narrowed down my favorites to the following; Sicilian sandwich and Waldorf Chicken Sandwich or Salad. I occasionally order their desserts like German chocolate cake, macadamia nut cookies, and the peanut butter cookies. Last time I went here for lunch and I ordered the Gluten Free White Chocolate Chip Nut. Oh man! It was so moist and yummy! It’s definitely on my list of desserts to get. I love coming back to this place because their food is consitently good. Never left this place unsatisfied and disappointed. Their wait staff are always nice and friendly. Food is affordable and place is always clean. Characteristics of a good restaurant to return to.

I usually frequent Bakersfield about twice a month with my boss to look at some commercial properties. However, during many of our trips, we are unable to find quality food until recently. We decided to stop by Sequoia Sandwich Company on a Saturday afternoon and it was definitely one of our better decisions of the day. We were greeted immediately when we stepped foot into the little restaurant and was amazed by the plethora of options of sandwiches they offer. I ultimately decided to go with the chipotle chicken sandwich which was their sandwich of the day. The sandwich itself was filled with onions, tomatoes, and a good portion of chicken topped off with their savory chipotle sauce. It was then cut in half and served to us. The sandwich itself is good enough for one person and will keep you satisfied but not too stuffed. I think the most memorable part of the sandwich is the bread itself. Sequoia Sandwich Company does not actually seem like it belongs in the downtown Bakersfield. It actually looks very contemporary inside and out. The windows are large and the tables, chairs, and everything else in the restaurant looked very modern compared to the surrounding area. Unfortunately I did have to take a star off because I think it did take a little long for our sandwiches to come out. However, I cannot wait to come back and try a different sandwich!

Holy cow! I had the best panini today! I shouldn’t be so surprised coming from Sequoia, but I was. I veered off from my usual chicken salad and decided to give the chicken pesto panini a try – yay for my sense of adventure! If you haven’t been to Sequoia and you love fresh ingredients, go tomorrow. Or today. Or right now. Don’t let the long lunch lines intimidate you, the staff is pretty efficient. Plus the brownie and cookies make it worth the wait!

Great Sandwiches from this place… one of our go-to lunch places. They can be very busy at lunch but there is always the option of placing your order ahead and pick up. As busy as they get, we seem to always find a seat when we dine in. I often get the Lite Lunch on the menu… depending on the day and my mood, I get the salad or the soup of the day with a half turkey sandwich. Other items on their menu that I love to get are the mozzarella, tomato, basil panini and their spring salad! The spring salad is so refreshing! This place doesn’t just make great tasting sandwiches and salads… they also have delectable desserts on their menu!

I went here for the first time for lunch today and man was it delish! The sandwich I got was the southwestern chicken sandwich. The meat was amazing, the bread was obviously fresh, and I added guac for a little yummy extra. Added a vanilla root beer and I was in mid day heaven. Though I will have to go back, my friends pastrami sandwich melty thing looked amazing, and no amount of puppy eyes would make him part with a bite! It was crowded but they moved the line fast and we got our food very quickly, surprisingly so considering how busy they were. I was very impressed, and the people who worked there seemed happy, that’s so rare! Can’t wait to add it into my rotation!

Sequoia(any location) is one of my favorite lunch spots. I am hooked on their Spring Salad(when fresh strawberries are available). I order mine without onions and with chicken to make a satisfying and delicious lunch that is also quite healthy. Their poppyseed dressing is delicious! As a note their rice krispy treats are some of the best in town if you don’t’ mind a huge sugar/calorie rush. This place is always packed at lunchtime. Plan to get their early if you want to actually sit down or order online and pick it up to take to another convenient location.

OMG, I love this place, I use to go here when they first opened back in 1999! My husband and I both love there Pastrami! Now this one on 18th street closes like at 2 p.m. And it’s always crowded, so if there are 2 of you and you see and open table, you better grab it while you can. I got the Pastrami on rye. OMG, that bread was so soft, it stuck to the roof of my mouth. We look forward going to this place every time we go to Northern Calif.
