I get my nails done every 3 – 4 weeks and this is by far the worst mani I have ever received in Bakersfield. I repeatedly asked one of the manicurist, Theresa to correct her technique — all my nails were cut uneven and my polish was poorly done. When I told her to fix one finger during the polish, she starts talking about how I have a bad attitude, that I should just let her do my nails the way she wants and if she had other «picky» customers she would quit her job.
Also, other than removing my nail polish, filling/​buffing my nails — she did not attend to my cuticles, clean under the nails etc. Explains why their prices are so cheap, but I didn’t miss any of those services because I highly doubt they have clean equipment.

I came in about 15 min to closing after calling they stated they would have time for me. I was takin back right away by whom I’m assuming is Teresa as one of the other gals called her. She was super quick but also very thorough. Although her service was great, I noticed that the other nail techs giving pedis log when they are done, which I am assuming it’s for their pedi spa tubs. Which are supposed to properly be cleaned and sanitized before performing another service. I was so disappointed to see that all these nails techs had the proper sanitation solution but not one of them used it after they were done. They only logged it on their piece of paper as if they did. Being a cosmetologist I know the proper sanitation rules. Makes you wonder if they are even taking the proper steps to sanitize their implements. Maybe a call to stateboard is needed.

I am only rating because of CRYSTAL. I have been coming here & have let everyone here do my gels, I dislike all of them except for Crystal. She is awesome! Takes her time & really coats every single nail.

I have been coming to this location for years and absolutely love it! they do a phenomenal job on both gel nail polish and acrylics, very kind and professional!

Not particularly impressed, especially after the good reviews. The lady went extremely fast (foot was barely scrubbed). She cut my toe at one point so it kept bleeding… She kept trying to dab it with the towel (which hurt) and then eventually had to put some blue liquid on it. It was a little disconcerting to see my blood on the towel, and a relaxing experience quickly turned not so much. I had a color chosen out, but somehow she started painting my toes a different color without asking. I had to correct her, and they were quickly painted and fixed. My nails were cut in a weird shape, and not my entire nail we painted.
My friend, who sat right next to me, had a better experience, though! Her lady started earlier, and finished later than mine. I would have been happy with the experience, I think, if I had gotten my nails done by someone else.

This review is solely for Teresa. If you ever come to Modern Nails, request and try to get her! She is the best and will follow your requests to get your nails to the place where you would like them to be. She strives the best for good customer service and is extremely friendly. Again, Teresa is the person to go to!

I recently tried this place based on reviews here, and how close it was to my house. The prices are cheaper than average, especially for a gel mani (only $ 20 compared with other places that are $ 30). I’ve gotten and gel mani and a pedi here so far, and both experiences were great (with 2 different manicurists). Wait time wasn’t long without an appointment, and they do a good job. Not the fanciest place, but I really mostly care about cleanliness of tools (which are prepackaged and new) and the end result. I also got a face wax (sideburns) here which was $ 10 and she did a quick but good job. I’m definitely going to start coming here. They also take credit card AND you can add tip on it, which is a plus since I noticed some places like Royal Nails only accept cash. Hope this review helped!

My go to nail salon. Prices are reasonable and the service is always excellent. The staff is very friendly. Even when the salon gets busy they make you feel comfortable in the massage chairs and allow you to soak your feet while you wait.

My mom and I come here biweekly! They are so good and it’s inexpensive! My favorite Saturday activity the gel manicure will definitely last at least two weeks when done right and the pedicure is so relaxing I try not to nap.

I’ve been there twice and I’m very happy with the shop and the people working there. I think they did a good job on my nails and I’m pretty picky about how they’re done. I’ll be going there every two weeks from now on.

Teresa and her husband do the best job by far on the fills and full sets. I have had many pedicures also and they do a good job just TELL THEM WHAT YOU WANT! They are pretty accommodating. Been getting my nails done with Teresa for over 3 years now!

By far my favorite nail salon in Bakersfield. This was my fourth try to find a steady nail salon. The lady were friendly. And talked with me not just among themselves. Did a great job with my nails, pedicure and waxing my eyebrows all for a fraction of the cost of the other 3 places.

Meh. Previous review from Unilocaler convinced me to try this place and it was upsetting how NOT clean this place was. I hate to leave bad reviews but I feel it’s my duty to tell people when they need to be fixed. Layers if dust and dirt. They have this spa machine in their restroom that was cover by a giant faux ivy plant that looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years! Sad, because the workers were very nice!

The other day I went to Modern Nails with my daughter and we really liked the place! They did a great job on my pedicure and my daughters as well! The staff was very nice and friendly… The shop was very clean and I really liked seeing the sanitizing canisters by the sink for the nail tools! A lot of nail places don’t clean there stuff! As soon as the lady finished my pedicure she went to the sink and scrubbed all of the nail tools that she used on me and put them in the sanitizing canisters! I really liked that they do that :) I would definitely go back and I recommend anyone to go to Modern Nails!!!
