I do not have tattoos or weird piercings.(I have my ears pierced) I am giving this shop 5 stars because of my daughter. She wanted to wait until she was 18 to get a nose piercing. She’s a Straight«A» student and doesn’t party. For her to ask for a nose piercing was the least of my worries. I work a few doors down from this tattoo shop and have heard only great things about it. It is a very clean and nicely kept shop. I spoke to Amy and explained to her that if anyone was going to pierce my daughters nose, it might as well be someone that knows what they are doing. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and Amy was out sick. :( We got Ashton instead. This young man was very professional and knowledgeable. He answered any questions I had and he put my daughter at ease. He talked her through the whole process and gave her instructions on how to care for her piercing. I have to admit, I was more worried than she was. Thank you Ashton for taking care of my baby girl.

Not from this area but had heard about this place from a gal we met at a local brewery … Stopped by at 8:15 to see about getting a tattoo… I asked to see a portfolio only to be told one was«lost»(of the artist that was there) and the 2 little books that were there had crap work in them… then told they were closing up for the night after the«artist» finished up whatever it was he was doing… and their other artists were out sick. Never mind, heading home where I can get good service and good artwork.

OKAY. SO. I’ve been looking for a really decent artist in town for ages. I felt compelled to get a tattoo a couple of weeks ago. Well, three but. Whatever. So anyway, I’ve heard good things about M.E. and called to see if they could take a walk in. They said they could! I told him I would be there in 15 minutes. When I showed up he was designing a piece for somebody else who had walked in. I was irritated– you knew I was coming, why go ahead and do that? He was the only artist available. He said he was calling somebody in and they’d be right over. I waited. Thirty minutes. An hour. I was getting mad. Then he said three o’clock. Another 45 minutes, wtf? I can’t believe I still waited. When the guy FINALLY showed up he was nothing but nice. We got along really well and my tattoos turned out gorgeous. Line work is amazing, etc. It took way longer than I expected but this was a Sunday walk in thing and I don’t think this would have ever been the case had I made an appointment. I also found out the guy had basically been on his way to LA and came back for me. Budah(I think is the way he spells it? I know it’s not Buddha)– is awesome. Like, true artist awesome. I was looking at things he’s drawn and painted and I’m pretty sure I’ve found my Bakersfield tattoo artist. Thanks for making a shitty situation a positive. You were wonderful. I’ll definitely be back.

Just want to say that my sis and I got our matching tattoos done here by Billy Von. Not only did he open early just for us but he explained everything so no question went unanswered. I would definitely recommend this shop.

Love Modern Electric Tattoo! The owners have gone out of their way to make sure there is a both a comfortable waiting area as well as a comfortable and clean procedure area. Every artist and piercer I’ve ever dealt with at Metco has been honest, professional and friendly. I’m wondering about these negative reviews — I’ve been around this place since the doors opened and have never experienced anything like that. Keep up the good work, guys!

Got a chest piece half of it is perfect the other half is raised and scared. Then the artist tried blaming me saying I didn’t take care of it. No… You kept going over it again and again. I don’t like any of the artists work there. I don’t recommend it

Deciding where to go and who to trust with your body is no easy task. After much research and recommendations from my friends I decided to go to Modern Electric for both a tattoo and piercings. Jsin, the piercer was amazing. He was informative, attentive, and understood my nerves. Because I was getting pierced where I had already been I had lots of questions about scar tissue. He completely put my mind at ease and made removing my top a non-issue. Chris fixed up an old tattoo for me that was done by a non-professional(I was young and dumb). Prior to speaking with him I was concerned that the tattoo was so far gone it would never look like I wanted it too. He was able to adjust the outline to even it up, fill in a lot of gaps, and make the entire thing black(previously a multicolored tat). His work is awesome and I intend on going back to him for another cover up. As far as the shop goes it was very clean. My experience with tat shops have been standard — not everything is in its place and the walls are covered in standard flash. Not Modern Electric. While there is art, it’s fairly obvious that the pieces were drawn by the artists — a huge selling point. And while it was clear that I was in a sterile environment, it didn’t feel as cold as a hospital. All the staff I had the pleasure of speaking to were warm, kind, and friendly. Overall, regardless if your new to tattoos and piercings or an old pro there is nothing about Modern Electric that you won’t appreciate.
