Best quick Mexican food in town! Shrimp tacos are the best and the shrimp cocktails are clean and fresh, I would advise to ask for light onion on the cocktails. Rice and beans are really good.

I’ve heard only good things about this place, so we had to try.
By far, the best Mexican food restaurant in ES Bakersfield.
We ordered the usual order of Enchiladas (the offer ANY meat!) chicken & desebrada, a sope, and a torta de asada. Their salsa bar was amazing. Fresh, spicy, and lots of different to choose from.
Definitely try their enchiladas, you will not be disappointed.

La Fonda is probably the best taco place in bakers, may not be the best but I still have not tasted a better place than this. Tortas tacos and burritos are a good treat. This place is usually booming during lunch in weekdays. Other items are average items but definitely a go to place for tacos!

We went on two for one Wednesday 729⁄15. I had Asada, carnita, pastor, pollo and lengua tacos. The building could have expanded more to allow more seating area in the dinning area.
Out of all the tacos I ordered, pastor was the only one enjoyable, with a pinch of xtra salt.
The others were dry and bland.
Salsa was great along with the other items u can pick and chose from the salsa bar.
I will go back to try other items on their menu beside tacos.

The one star is definitely not for their food because there is nothing wrong with the food. The one is for having me wait on the phone for 20 damn minutes while I can hear the staff laughing and joking in the background. That is not how you run a business I definitely won’t be coming here anymore. I’m actually still on hold as I write this been almost 25 minutes now. Not because I’m going to be placing an order anymore but because I am hoping someone comes on the phone so I can give them an earful. They don’t even deserve a one! Crappy ass service boo to you La Fonda!

Wonderful food. Fast to the table. Fresh. Flavorful. Avocados didn’t actually realize they weren’t hanging on the tree still!
Passing thru on my way to LA and looked for something local near my hotel. Really glad I read the recent reviews and got over here.
Don’t be intimidated by the area or building, bright and clean inside! But bring your reading glasses — the menu font is small.

Close to my home, menudo is my favorite, but like all things in life there are different variations! Their menudo is clean and cut small, the soup is good color and flavorful, my family likes and what they like I like! !

My kids and I felt like eating Mexican food, so we decided to go here. As I started ordering, I happened to notice there were roaches ready to fall from the ceiling. The employee was not surprised, and indifferently said they sprayed for roaches earlier in the day. I stopped and left. A visit from the health dept would do this place some good.

Haven’t been to this particular location but the gasoline alley location is pretty darn good. I love machaca burritos and this place makes a good one. It’s a little expensive for being a Mexican food spot but better to pay a little more for quality. Thumbs up LaFonda!

I’ve only been here once and I must say nothing stood out. I had carne asada tacos that didn’t blow me away. I mean it wasn’t a bad experience just nothing to get excited about. I may have to try something else on the menu to really give this place a fair assessment.

Thank you fellow Unilocalers! We were looking for a place to pick up a quick lunch nearby to my in laws and this place was right around the corner. Rave reviews and they weren’t wrong. The line was super long which is always a great sign. My steak ranchero was fantastic. LOVED the smooth refried beans and the salsas. My husband’s carnitas torta was filled with extra crispy meat and generous toppings. My father in law’s shrimp tacos were devoured quickly. Will be coming here again when in town!

Food is outstanding! Ignore the surroundings and eat this great food!!! Yummy fresh salsa. The tacos are to die for! If you want real home grown Mexican food this is a great place to eat. It’s very casual but delicious. The prices are out of this world as well!

I go here on Wednesdays and grub out on 50¢ tacos. My top choices are pastor and cabeza. Spice them up with the green sauce from the salsa bar and go to town!
When you go on a taco night pray you have good timing. One time a line was out the door but it’s worth the wait.
