Very disappointing. The egg rolls were overcooked, and if there was more than a piece of cabbage leaf in there, I couldn’t find it. The shrimp were very doughy, tasted old, and again, were overfried. The pork ribs were old and dry. I did eat a lot of the pork fried rice and chow mein, only because they were the only choices left that tasted fresh. I called in my order, was told half an hour, arrived 10 minutes early, and waited another 30 minutes in a restaurant that had three occupied tables. We don’t live here, but the next time I need Chinese food when we are passing through, I won’t stop here.

As growing up on the Southwest area. Hong Kong was originally called Grand China. Unfortunately, due to that crappy chuck e cheese wanting to expand. They had to shut down. The owner bought out Hong Kong and kept the name. The food is still fantastic. The sizzling rice soup is to die for and the orange chicken is at its best. My late father and my mother had their 40 anniversary here. So every so often; if my family is craving Cantonese food. Hong Kong is the place to be. Local fav in my book.

Really not sure what the hype is here. The food was really bad, and I didn’t feel very good after eating it the next day. The major problem was the flavor of the sauces. Something was off, and while we spent a pretty penny on dinner, we did not eat any of it. We tossed it and had frozen burritos and hot pockets from the fridge. The little that I did eat still did something to my stomach. Not recommended. I don’t usually eat off of Chester or anywhere over there near Brundage because it’s usually rundown. But the Unilocal reviews drew me here and gave me the slight confidence to try them out. Again, don’t listen to the Unilocalers on this one.

I have finally found a Chinese food place I loved! Omg! We did the family pack for $ 38 and it came with soups, salads, pork fried rice, beef and broccoli, car obese chow mein, orange chicken, and 12 friend shrimp!!! I also ordered egg rolls because that’s where you really can make your final decision on how good the place is… And they were yummy!!!

Great food, great service. The ladies that work there are my favorite people I see each week. Their lemon chicken is my favorite Chinese dish in all of Bakersfield and their hot & sour soup is

Food is great(especially when it’s not cold) but I would recommend calling it in and picking it up rather than ordering for delivery. Last night we had a family get together and called in an order that was supposed to be delivered ” in an hour if not sooner«well we finally started wondering when our food would be arriving so we called to check the status and they said it should be there any moment it just left a half hour ago. This was 1 hour and a half after we originally called it in. We waited another 15 min and our food arrived without the hard noodles or rice. They delivered that after we called to inform them and it was delivered in about 20 min. They were very apologetic but offered no discount. Like I said the food is good the delivery just needs some work.

This place did not live up to its reviews for us. Doesn’t begin to compare to our favorite place back home in Maine. The fried rice was pretty decent, but the sweet and sour chicken was soggy and over breaded, and the ribs were dry and tough. The egg rolls were actually spring rolls(no meat in them) and were tiny. Can’t believe I’m saying it, but we should have just gone to Panda. The service was good, they were nice :)

I ate at the Hong Kong for the first time today, well, actually I ordered take out. It was pretty average. I got the dinner special Orange chicken with chow mein and fried rice. The chicken was ok, a bit over fried and crunchy. It tasted like it had a lot of sugar in it, and I couldn’t taste the orange. I ordered it extra hot but it wasn’t. The chow mein was plain, I think it had a bean sprout in it but it was cooked perfectly. The fried rice had one piece of corn and one pea in it and it wasn’t good, it tasted terrible(old oil and starchy) and I tossed it. I thought I might go back one more time before I forgot about the place, but then I decided there are too many better places here. I won’t be back.

Ordered Delivery, two #5 family dinners… They were out of ribs, but subbed an order of Kung Pao Chicken. Orange Chicken was AMAZING! Rice, ohh Pork Fried Rice from Hong Kong Restaurant why haven’t we met before? Delicious! 32.00 total and had dinner for two nights! It was better the next day too! Cant say enough for the service and food on this visit/delivery. Soooo Good! Those other«two» popular Cantonese restaurants who deliver in town better take note and do it up Hong Kong style. Fresh, Carrots taste like an actual carrot, not oiled up veggies and the mushrooms were meaty, but earthy. Perfection! Can’t wait until our next catering event to utilize this wonderful local gem!

Food was great and cheap! We came in for lunch and had the shrimp in orange sauce lunch special. Halfways into our lunch, my mom spotted a cockroach crawling up the wall. She spoke to the manager and we left and got our food comp’d. I would have definitely recommended this restaurant if we haven’t spotted cockroaches.

The menu looked good… tried to order delivery but they didn’t take debit/credit cards. When I told the girl I didn’t have cash she responded like a snob«you’re not going to order then» followed by «okay bye» and the she hung up on me. Bravo on the customer service.

Our orders take so long to come. However solemn overhead Chinese music on the background appears calming and soothing to senses while waiting for the orders. I wonder why it takes long

First time trying this place and I was shocked at how good the food taste! This place is under the radar, let’s see if we can change that! I got the full size wor wonton soup which was huge very flavorful wontons were done traditional which you never see any more ! Veggies were not over cooked and it had chicken beef and shrimp mixed in, it really was amazing. Husband got a chicken dish and really enjoyed it total not including tip it was 16 $ ! Wow the place was so clean we enjoyed every minute of it. Our server was shy and very nice and was so quick! We will be back for sure to try more !

This is our all time favorite Chinese restaurant in town. We come here often. It’s not in the best part of the neighborhood and you wouldn’t try it if you just drove by it. It’s a whole in the wall, but you won’t be disappointed. Through the years, the customer service hasn’t been very good. I will say they have hired some new waitresses and the service is getting a lot better! The food is always good and fresh. The best part about the restaurant is they have lots of specials and they are very reasonably priced. We can usually feed our family of four for under $ 20! Every time my parents come to visit, they always ask to go to Hong Kong! This is a must try for everyone! You seriously won’t be disappointed.

I just moved into the area and have been on a mission to find good Chinese food, especially now becuz a beloved coworker wants Chinese for her bday lunch. Came here last week with two other coworkers. Close to work and good Unilocal reviews. We ordered a mess of food and just loved the pot stickers, and pan fried noodles that I ordered in particular. Both of my co-workers got the luncheon special with some type of chicken with a sweet sauce. They seemed to like what they had, but next time they said they would try a different dish. The lunch specials were a WONDERFUL value! A lot of food — an entre, soup, salad, egg roll, fried rice or white rice, AND noodles for a very reasonable price. The happy family dinner is such a good deal — a meal for five for only $ 27 bucks. No need to go to fancier, more expensive restaurants. Within the same week I tried two other Chinese restaurants — One of the restaurants was PF Changs. I like PF Changs — but I decided after trying the Honey Walnut Shrimp at both places, and based on the price that Hong Kong was a way better choice for my co-worker’s birthday luncheon. The pot stickers were gone in a flash.(The potstickers at PF Changs were tasty, but they were tiny and very expensive compared to the pot stickers here) I continue to reign supreme in bringing the best food to the office.

I was really excited about trying this place because of the Unilocal reviews, but I ended up pretty disappointed. I got take out, and the woman who took my order was really nice, but the food wasn’t great. I got a la carte kung pao chicken and chicken fried rice. The prices for those were almost exactly the same as Bill Lee’s, but they gave a little bit more food. The kung pao was mostly mushrooms, which I have never seen in kung pao chicken before. It wasn’t very spicy, and what little chicken there was mostly tasted like mushrooms. The fried rice tasted a bit odd. Like old oil maybe? There wasn’t a whole lot of chicken in that either. None of it was inedible but it definitely wasn’t anything I’d pay to eat again.

Its cheap. NO really, I mean its really cheap for a ton of food. Its ok, I was really hoping the potstickers were as good as they used to be when they where located on Ming Ave, but unfortunetly they were not, a little greasy. They have a ton of specials for $ 7 – 8 which includes a ton of food(soup, egg roll, salad, rice, entrée, etc).

Every time I eat here I smile wide because these are the owners of the old Grand China on Ming which Chuck E Cheese took over. Food is always piping hot cooked to order. They have great meal specials and most come with a salad, soup, and eggroll. I love how friendly the owner is. When I walk in she knows my order already and always asks how everything is. Waitresses are very attentive and even when they are on the busy side I am never thirsty. Price is great, food is delicious. I would recommend to everyone!
