When I first got in to cycling, I believed that price and product quality were the key to making an informed, justified purchase. As the years went on and I became more passionate about the sport, it dawned on me that I had missed the mark: Sociability. In this day and age where customer service is a passing thought, you really have to wonder whether or not it is entirely possible to find a mom and pop’s shop that can introduce both high quality wares and personable service. Please don’t think that I expect shopkeepers to bow down on one knee when I enter a store based on this review(and perhaps my history of reviews): All I want is a cool smile, small talk, help with what I’m buying, why I should even buy it, and reasonable prices. I have to say that the staff is incredibly personable. If you look at their FaceBook page, one can easily see that they aren’t just selling bikes to a customer, they are establishing relationships with people who just want to hop on a bike ride. They are efficient and knowledgeable and can answer most if not all your questions/inquiries. Their products are well priced. Their labor rates are reasonable, tad higher(2 – 3 $) than other places but quite honestly I am willing to pay more because of the service alone. In Post Recession America, a customer who is willing to cough up more dough because of the employees alone should be the epitome of a store that all should patronize. I am no pro by any standards but I will say that when you buy a bike, you are really investing in a bike shop. And I believe that if you want a shop that will stick with you and by you, Blacktop Cyclery is definitely that place.

If you want great customer service and great bikes, this is your place. I walked in and was greeted right away. I also didn’t feel hounded or pressured to buy. The shop owner is super personable very willing to help you find what you need. I got my son a great bike and can’t wait for him to see it on his birthday! Will be back for future purchases :)

This place was suggested by a friend. We have a jogging stroller that needed a tire fixed. The staff was so nice and helpful here. We were back on the road within 15 Minutes with a new tube. Would recommend this place for sure! I am even thinking of buying a bike here,

As a woman cyclist I have struggled for years to find a comfortable road cycling shoe. I have spent a fortune at other cycling shops that have never really listened to what my particular feet issues are, wide, thick, & super high arch. At a friends suggestion I went to see Lawrence(owner of Blacktop Cyclery) he was so attentive to my feet dilemma with the cycling shoes. First Lawrence had me put my bare foot on a piece of paper and trace the outline(that was a first) then he measured my width. He spent about an hour with me by his side researching on the Internet until we found a shoe company that gave a sizing chart with width and length. He called the company while I was there and relayed all of my issues, they made a recommendation for me and I now have a shoe on order that I am confident will be the appropriate fit. Yes I did have to order a men’s wide, which matters not at all to me as long as I will have comfort. In all the years that I have struggled with this issue no other cycling shop in town has ever made this kind of an effort on my behalf, I can’t thank Lawrence enough. If you want absolutely the best customer service you will ever experience, Lawrence at Blacktop Cyclery is your guy.
